    Anyone from Minnesota

I was sleeved July 30, 2013. I've also had a great experience. I have excellent support from my family and these boards are great, but it would be nice to actually talk to someone who has been there. How much is the personal trainer? I can pay as long as it's not too expensive :-) yes-does anyone know the average cost of a trainer?

hi BladeFox-been a while. You will do just fine. How much do you want to lose? Do you go to the monthly support meetings at Fairview? They are very helpful too. There are people who are veterans and people still on the fence. Very interesting!!

You can choose who you want. I didn't know much about any of them initially but I've heard nothing but good about all of them. The best thing I like about their program is that there is only 1day of prep work. So only a special diet for 24 hours prior. They do ask that you lose so much weight before surgery-mine was 10 lbs. That was requested by a PA. But when I finally got to meet the surgeon (which was around 8lbs lost) he had told me he would have only requested I lose 5lbs before surgery. I was told that they want to see if you will lose some on your own to show how serious you were about losing weight and so you get yourself in that mindframe of lifestyle changes. The surgeon did tell me that if I gained too much weight back by the date of the surgery he would have no reservations about canceling the surgery the day of surgery. So far I don't miss my old standbys but still struggle with taking too big of bites. Your body sure lets you know when that happens. I really like that I can have most anything but cannot eat it like it's thanksgiving dinner-love the restriction! Using a baby spoon has helped me a lot!! Keeps that bite in perspective.

Sleeved 10/23,from the south metro. Getting amped for our natural cryogenics our lovely state is about to offer. Helps us live longer don't cha know-:-)

New here thought i say hi

That's fantastic!! Good for you! I was sleeved on 10/23 too. I only had to do 1 day of preop prep. I am down 11lbs. I ate all of my favorites and too much of it up until just past midnight of the day before surgery-too stuffed and I felt like I was saying goodbye to a best friend. Funny how the mind messes with ya. I felt that way when I quit smoking too. But what really ticked me off was letting these things rule my life. So glad to have this surgery and be able to grab the bull by the horns and have this tool to help me conquer this beast. Keep up with your posting, you are doing excellent!!!
  13. That actually has been done but it is mostly removed through the larger incision on the left side of your abdomen. 5 incisions for me, the other 4 were for cameras.

    On the fence for surgery...

Heck.... I was at Target the day I was discharged. My surgery was 10/23-last Wednesday. Every day has been better for me, running errands each day, doing yard work yesterday. I did lose my energy a bit quicker but wasn't surprised, not eating/ drinking much at the moment. I didn't have any serious health issues either and struggled with the decision for about a year before going through with it. This is what helped me make up my mind. Before when I was unsure I kept saying this is crazy!! We were born with that stomach for a reason. But as time went on I realized we were also not born or destined to have this extra weight which is or will eventually create other problems. I kept thinking it was unnecessary surgery because I had no related health issues so why would I risk this surgery? But then it dawned on me....why am I risking my health with all this extra weight? The science is there just like my LASIK I had was not necessary but sooo glad I did it, that was 8 years ago!! I am also glad I did the lumpectomy, chemo, and radiation for breast cancer that was 9 years ago. Although that was necessary to a point, the benefits outweighed the risks. I found out that being overweight was a huge risk for my cancer returning due to the tumor being full of estrogen and fat contains estrogen. I tried most of my life with plenty of diets just to end up yo-yoing like a lot of folks on here. So now I can say I am just plain giddy that I made this decision. Everyone has to do what's right for them, I just hope that the people on the fence realize that hanging onto that extra weight is making your organs work harder, your bones are carrying more and the possibilities of all the serious illnesses that may be in the future. So glad to see you have it scheduled-you are now taking the bull by the horns and helping your own body and this is definitely a preventive measure. I see people on here who wished they done it long before they started getting illnesses. The surgery most likely would have prevented a lot of their pain and let alone $$ they have sunk into their drugs/treatment and copays. I think at the very least you will be pleasantly surprised with your decision, I know I am. You are lucky, you are having a surgery and it sounds like besides the weight you are healthy. I would only think that is to your advantage for having the surgery, less risk of complications and recovery will probably be much smoother for you. I initially scheduled my surgery for 9/11 but had so much anxiety I cancelled it. But it wasn't long after that I was really depressed, feeling helpless and realized this for me is a gift. So I took it. Best if luck to you, you will do great and please keep posting.
  17. Ohh I am glad I read this!! I am only 5 days out but now I know not to sweat the stalls. I wonder if measuring instead if weighing would be more productive during the stalks? Either way, sooo glad for this forum. Huge help!!!
  18. Sounds like you are doing great!! I am curios when it gets easier to get the protein in. I had surgery 10/23.-5 days ago. For me, the worst day was the day of surgery but after that it has been so smooth, no hunger at all. Water is getting easier and can swallow pills too..(not all at once like I used to )
  19. Hallelujah for gas-x!!!

I had surgery Wednesday too and like you I get hungry. I have been stopping when I start to feel the pressure and usually I burp then. Water seems to be the easiest right now . I am in full liquids for 2 weeks, how about you?
