  1. Wow, it is so great to find someone who is around the same height/weight that I am, and is doing so well. I'm 5'4" and started at 255lbs. I had surgery about 2weeks ago and am down 15.5lbs. I thought/think its great, but I've heard its not as much as it could be. I'm doing better than others I know of, because I can eat chicken and yogurt and cheese....and everyone else I know is still only doing Protein. I can only eat 2-4bites at a time, but I don't feel satisfied, just uncomfortable. My problem is, I have an appetite all the time! I think about eating constantly. Is anyone else having this problem? My Dr. said its normal and a small percent of patients have this, but it's really brought me down. I feel like I'll never eat "normal" again. My mom had bypass 12yrs ago, did great and is still fab/thin, and she keeps comparing me to her and what she went through...but it's a totally different surgery. I'm starting to wonder if I made the right decision....like, am I ever going to be able to eat again? At 3.5months out can you eat more "normally" or still 3bites at a time? Its still great to read about everyone's success.
  2. How are you doing? Anytime I eat/drink anything I feel a million little bubbles moving around...its a bit weird. Are you still sore/in pain? Do you have an appetite?
  3. Home from my surgery on Friday. So far, pretty good. I had an appetite Friday night and was really upset, it never really went away, but I've gotten used to it.In the hospital it was all Water until today. I had a bit of Jello and it went down fine, but I'm being very careful how much I eat, only 1-2oz at a time. When I got home I rested and then tried some greek yogurt. 4bites and I was done, felt pretty good.Still sore, hoping everyday will get easier.Passing minimal gas, but burping a lot.Walk, walk, walk.
  4. All set for my surgery tomorrow!! Have to be at the hospital by 10am. So excited! just had My surgery this morning. Feeling okay, mostly tired some pain. Tried to get up and walk and walked around about 20 steps bc my legs were really wobbly and unsteady. How are you all feeling since being sleeved!??
  5. I'll be sleeved the 21st! I'm excited, but nervous also. It is good to know there are so many people going through the same thing. We have strength in numbers LOL. Good luck to you all

  7. Hi I am pleased with his staff and the supportive atmosphere. I feel very comfortable with him also. How are you doing now? How was your experience with the liquid-puree transition? Do you use any protein shakes?
  8. Which hospital was it? I know Dr. Wizman operates out of two. How are you doing thus far? No one ever tells people this, but for future reference, you Always have the right to request a different nurse when in the hospital, if you are unhappy with your care. I'm sorry the experience was bad, but overall are you happy with your results? How was the liquid-puree stage?
  9. So excited!!! SD; 2/21/14 HW; 265 CW; 245 GW; 135-145 H; 5'4" Self pay; 10,500 Margate Fl.
  10. Being sleeved by Dr. Wizman in Margate Fl on Feb 21st. So excited!!. Anyone else local to PBC been (or getting) sleeved? Would love to get some feedback, support, buddies etc.
  11. I'm in Wellington, looking to be sleeved end of Feb. How are you all doing? Any suggestions or things you wish you knew? I'm using Dr. Wizman too, what was you experience like?
  12. I don't understand the diet before surgery thing...I mean a few days of liquid, yes, but weeks-months? Can someone explain it?
  13. Did either of you have to have an epidural? Why was it 5days before you went home, is that standard? Thanks
  14. Is getting an epidural customary when having the sleeve? Do all Mexico Dr 's do it that way?
  15. I read your blog and was just wondering, did you know about the epidural before the surgery??
  16. Can someone e post DrQ web address? I can't seem to find him. Was he expensive? Thanks.
  17. I'm thinking of using this company, but got confused because it says "your provider will choose the terms/interest rate" etc...So do they pay your doctor and then you pay back, or do you have to pre-pay before surgery? Thanks!
  18. I'm in West Palm and looked into it, I was told $18,000 and that covered the doctor and hospital, but not all the pre/post-op which ( I was told) would run another 3-5. I'm looking into Mexico. LOL or possibly that Doc in Boca that someone mentioned above. Good luck!
  19. Thanks everyone. I am planning on having it in Mexico and have found that care credit will not allow out-of-country procedures, and united medical will not work with many doctors, though several are trying to change that. I contacted fundmydr, but they didn't answer any of my questions, or give me any real information. They just sent an "apply with this creditor" email, and I wasn't comfortable just giving my information out without them even answering my basic questions. I don't own a home, so line of equity is out, and I'm not part of a credit union I'm still investigating my options. and still hope for early next year. I'm thinking if I can save at least half (4500) then maybe I can borrow the other 4500....that amount shouldn't be too hard for a bank to part with LOL Any other suggestions??
  20. I'm starting to research how to fund my surgery as I don't have insurance. I want to make the best decision to avoid drama and additional charges. Has anyone had experience with financing through; fundmydr.com, creditcare.com or unitedmedical.com? I have read good and bad reviews on all three, and I don't want to apply here, there, and everwhere as credit checks lower your score. Any recommendations? Thanks!
