  1. I may have spoke too soon. I've woken up the last two nights coughing with something in the back of my throat and my heart racing. I think my reflux is worse. That's the last thing I want. Anybody else having any issues? I've taken 20mg of Omeprazole for the last 10 years and it's controlled it. I hope this is temporary. I am terrified of aspiration pneumonia, esophageal damage, and heaven forbid conversion to bypass. ????
  2. I had VSG this past Wednesday (6 days ago) and now I am waking with stuff in my throat that makes me cough and a rapid heart rate. I am afraid that my controlled reflux has gotten worse. I don't know if this is a temporary thing, but I am scared to death of aspirational pneumonia and lung issues as well as damage to my esophagus. I am only 38yo so I'd like to live a long esophageal cancer free life. I've heard of people having to convert to bypass and I would absolutely hate that as I am low(ER) BMI to begin with. I think right at 34. Does anyone have any experience with this? Is this something that happens immediately after surgery. I already take 20mg of Omeprazole and took an extra yesterday. I plan to call my surgeon tomorrow, but it's 3:45AM local time. My BIGGEST fear about this surgery was causing additional health problems instead of improving my health. ???? I appreciate any feedback - Amye
  3. Following this. I'm Day 5 Post Op and feeling the same way. Hoping it gets better. AND..... I'm hungry ????
  4. Sleeved on the 28th. Terrible nausea/dry heaves on the first night but been ok since. Having trouble getting protein, but no probs with liquids. Hope everyone is doing well!!!
  5. No. But it's worth a try. Thanks
  6. I forgot to mention that I don't eat bananas or chocolate. The shake flavors that I have are vanilla and strawberry
  7. I HATE all the protein drinks I've tried and now I'm stuck with several and having trouble getting my protein in. Does anyone have any ideas of things to add to the shakes to make them better? I am on full liquid. Someone suggested vanilla extract but that didn't help much. I have the unflavored Unjury powder to add to soup but I really hate the texture. I know I sound picky, but I'm trying ????
  8. Hi All. I am 4 days post op and feeling ok. Now that I finally DID it, I'm not obsessing over the decision and I've started concentrating more on the maintenance. I guess I never noticed how many people still struggle after the surgery. I realize that the sleeve is not a fix all, but I don't want to only lose half the weight. I'm lower BMI (34-35) and I'd really like to be thin, not just normal, but thin for the first time since high school. Am I aiming too high?
  9. Hate to hear this. I'll say a prayer for you. Please keep us updated and good luck.
  10. I am Day 4 Post Op and every sip I take feels like I'm swallowing something sharp. It feels as if there's a knife in between my shoulder blades. Is this gas? Maybe I'm just not moving enough ????
  11. I feel Ya. Day 3 seems to be worse than Day 2. Very ready to feel better ????
  12. Ok. I'm having no problems getting my fluids and protein in. I feel like I can sip on soup all day long. Is this normal? I realize that things will probably change when I start puréed in two weeks, but I want to make sure I'm not doing too much
  13. I am not still in the hospital. I'll take my temp and if it's not better by tomorrow, I'll call the doc
  14. Hi All. I got sleeved yesterday and today I dealing with a very red, flushed face and burning ears/skin. Did anyone else have this? I think I may remember the nurse saying she was giving me a steroid in my IV so that may be the culprit
  15. Just had mine yesterday. You will do fine. I'm headed home now. I had pretty severe nausea which was by far the worst. The gas pain wasn't near as bad as I had anticipated. Good luck!!!!
  16. This surgery is no joke (I've had several). I had it done at about 2pm and it's now midnight. The nausea and dry heaves are killing me. I need to get up and walk, but I just start throwing up. Someone please tell me this is normal and it will pass. Desperate - I hate nausea
  17. Sitting in the waiting room waiting to go back to surgery. Just ready to be done ????
  18. About to leave for the hospital. I'd love to hear from my fellow 28th'ers. Good luck to everyone and God Bless!!!
