1. Well it's Wednesday morning here in the UK so for once I have remembered to weigh in on time! After a very annoying stall all week, as of this morning I am down another 4lb! Good news! Good luck everybody . Pre-op weight - 240 Start of challenge weight - 192 Week 1 weigh in - 190 Week 2 weigh in - 186
2. I'm exactly 2 calendar months out and today I broke the -50lb barrier! Weighed in this morning at 189 - started at 240 the day I started my pre-op diet. This all seems to be going far too easily - I'm convinced my luck is going to run out soon!
3. Checking in - weighed this morning but forgot to post!! I am 190lb as of today so that's a 2lb loss - on schedule .
4. This struck such a chord with me. My mum has always had a lot of control over my life (even now at 23 years old she opens and inspects my bank statements) and ever since I can remember I had sneaked food out of the cupboards and hid the wrappers in places I didn't think she would find. She has always been very slim and really controlled everything I ate because she wanted me to be just like her. I was always bigger than average because of this but my weight didn't get so out of control until she coerced me into doing something when I was 20 that I have hated myself for ever since. I thought that my weight gain was the emotional fall out of what I did, but you have really got me thinking that maybe it was my way of rebelling against her. Definitely something to consider. Thank you (and everybody else) for sharing so much in this thread. I am very much a lurker rather than a poster but you have all helped me feel so much less alone. I think you're all amazing.
5. When I was on purées I often ended the day with a teaspoon of peanut butter because I wasn't able to eat anywhere near enough calories. I mentioned this to my nutritionist and she said it was fine!
6. Sleeved 10/5 - down 49lb (from 240 to 191) since the start of my pre-op diet. Down from a uk size 22 (US 18 ) to a UK 16 (US 12 I think!).

I'm just at the beginning of my second stall since surgery - so helpful to know I'm not alone and I just have to ride it out!

One weird thing I have noticed though is that my sleeve feels a lot 'tighter' in the morning and evening - I feel really restricted around these times and can't tolerate liquids if they're not warm first thing in the morning. Is this just my body being strange?
7. Is it too late for me to join this?! If not my starting weight is 192lb - goal weight for Christmas is 182lb. Fingers crossed!!
8. I was sleeved by Prof Ammori! Great choice, I think! His team are wonderful
9. Hi . I had a sleeve 6 weeks ago and have lost 42 pounds so far. I came to the decision to have a sleeve with my surgeon. My bmi was 44 when I started my journey. I knew I didn't want a band as I had seen research with regards to slippage and erosion, and didn't want to deal with those as well as fills and defills to find the right restriction. I also wasn't comfortable with having a foreign item in my body. I didn't want a bypass as I am only 23 so didn't like the idea of having something which was so drastic and would change the way my body worked. For me, the sleeve was the perfect compromise. My body still works the same way it always did, just on a smaller scale. I know having a sleeve can cause issues with Vitamin b12 deficiencies but I was already deficient before my surgery and had to have the injections anyway. Also, it can cause issues with heartburn and acid reflux, but my surgeon said this tends to happen mostly with people who already have issues with it. These are things to bear in mind. All surgeries have their positives and negatives, and I appreciate I am not far out at all, but so far I feel like being sleeved is the best decision I ever made.
10. As of today I am officially in Onederland!! 198.8lbs!! Woohooooo!
11. Keep forgetting to update this thread. Oops! Weighed myself today - I am down from 240lb the day before my 2 week pre op diet to 201lb this morning. So I am down 39lb in 6 and a half weeks. So close to Onederland!! I'm definitely not eating enough though - and I know I'm not. I have absolutely no interest in food and I am finding it really difficult to motivate myself to eat anything - especially as I am still on purées so my choices are kind of limited. I'm trying to make sure I drink half a (UK) pint of milk a day and sometimes supplement my calories with a teaspoon of smooth peanut butter before bed. I'm seeing my surgeon and nutritionist next week so hopefully they will be able to help. Apart from that though, I feel amazing! I already have so much more confidence and I wore a pair of heels all day yesterday without being in agony. I seem to be choosing to be more active too now - I have started walking to a train station that's further away on my way to work. And I do it without even thinking! I sweat a lot less too. I can't wait till I can start exercising properly. I hope everybody else is doing good!!
12. Have you had your B12 levels checked? I was B12 deficient pre-op anyway, and my surgeon warned me that the sleeve can often lower your levels. That can cause cognitive issues!
13. Good luck!! Let us know how it all goes .
14. To me, the way the OP read was a little advertisement-like? Things like 'I had a drain, but sometimes for longer'?
15. I wasn't allowed varnish on my fingernails, but having it on my toe nails was fine, especially as I had to wear the compression socks anyway! Go for that pedicure, I say!!
16. Back to work today - two of my colleagues commented that I look like I have lost weight! Yesssss!! Another benefit I have noticed is that I had very red stretch marks on my stomach. I am sure I am not imagining it but it seems they have faded an awful lot. Has anybody else noticed this?
17. Thank you gamergirl! You are so right and I didn't think of it in that way at all! I think this is just such a minefield and I am over thinking everything .
18. I joined eharmony at the weekend and have already found a guy I think I really like. We've been talking lots and he has asked if I would like to go for a drink. Obviously I have said yes but I'm so scared! I'm only a week and a half post op so I won't be able to drink alcohol and I don't feel like I've lost anywhere near enough weight for him to be attracted to me when we meet. I don't know whether to tell him about my surgery. What would you guys do? And if you would tell him, would you do it before you met him or not? Argh this is so bloody difficult!
19. My BMI is now under 40! I know it's still way too high but I feel like that is a sort of milestone and I know it's never going to begin in a 4 again! That made me happy today Great thread by the way
20. I obviously can't and won't tell you what to do, but personally I wouldn't go near a lap band. I didn't like the thought of something so foreign in my body and have seen far too many statistics of slippage and erosion, and people being really quite ill with them. I also personally didn't want to deal with the fills and defills that I would have to go through to find my sweet spot. I am only a week and a half post op, but I would never change my decision to have the sleev
21. Hi Where abouts in the UK are you located? X
22. Glad you managed to have a full night's sleep Madam R. I will keep my fingers crossed it carries on getting better - I think sometimes when we feel so well in other ways, it's easy to forget that our bodies have gone through major surgery and it's going to take a while for things to get back to some semblance of normality - I know I have been guilty of this in the past few days! Thanks redbean! Luckily I am not feeling too heartbroken now - I'm 23 and went from university to working full time and living with him. I have 6 months lease left on the apartment and I am planning, as I will be much more confident and active by then (fingers crossed!) to have a bit of an adventure while I still can and have no real responsibilities. My plan is to hopefully secure a working visa to spend a year in Canada - a winter in Whistler sounds good to me at this point!
23. I am a little! I can feel my collar bones again and my jaw is looking much more defined. Have had to take a couple of links out of my watch too, so I'm feeling quite confident at the moment! How are you doing? Is your heartburn any better today? (Noticed on another thread - stalker alert haha!)
24. One week post op so I jumped on the scales out of curiosity...from a high of around 238lb before I began my pre-op, I am down to 212lb today. I know a lot of that will be water weigh and I am heading towards my three week stall, but I'm feeling pretty pleased with myself!
