December 2013 Sleevers Come In!
Given the fact that we all will have or probably will have surgery this month, I am curious if anyone in the December group has a flu shot? Have you asked the surgeon? Has it been a topic of conversation? I wonder with the surgery, the post surgery diet and the weakened state if flu is a concern? I have gotten a flu shot each of the last three years, wondering about this year?

October 100 Mile Challange!
6 miles today for a monthly total of 47. I joined this thread two weeks ago and I am thoroughly motivated seeing everyone's results. i think there should be one thread for anyone that is moving and working toward the goal. As a pre sleeve patient there is no way I can keep up with Fiddleman, but I look forward to the posts. I think this thread is all about challenging yourself to do more. Thanks to that!!

October 100 Mile Challange!
Thank You. The program that I am in has done a good job helping me be prepared. The Exercise Psyiologist has me doing 20-30 minutes a day of cardio, minimum. I have also begun light weight and stretching exercises 3 times a week. I figure it is good to establish some routines now, so that I can get back to it as soon as able after the surgery.

October 100 Mile Challange!
I am still about six weeks away My Insurance requires a six month managed program.I started in June, so I am almost there! Currently I have taken one of the required four weekly pre surgical skills classes. When they are complete (Nov 7) my file is sent to the surgeon, for appointment and scheduling of the surgery. I have been trying to focus on the plan and losing as much weight before the surgery.

Liquid diet?
There must be more than one successful way to do VSG based on all the different things people say are required. The NUT told me I would only need to do clear liquids one day before surgery.

Looking for an unflavored protein powder that wont clump when added to soups. Any thoughts?
I know the Unjury chicken soup should not be heated above 140 degrees

McDonalds
There is an awful lot of McDonald's bashing in this thread.......Not so sure all the issues that people have are the fault of the restaurant industry. Most of us are involved with VST because of our history of poor decisions regarding food. Not sure that the choice of restaurants would have made a difference. I know that I have eaten a lot of Big Mac's in my day, and enjoyed them! If you look at McDonald's website, www.mcdonalds.com, they actually have a lot of information about what is in their food. 100% beef is pretty good, considering what you can get elsewhere. The pink slime, seen on the internet, surely applies to some nugget products of food manufacturers, but McDonald's has all white meat chicken nuggets since 2003. Sometimes a little of the wrong information can be dangerous. I feel that I know more today than yesterday about the food I eat and the choices I make. I wouldn't eat every meal at a fast food restarant until I vomit, like Morgan Spurlock. In full disclosure I have a family association with McDonald's that has helped me understand the "real story". This has allowed me to know more about how they operate than the average person. If in a situation where McDonald's was the option, I would not be afraid to choose a burger without the bun, scrambled eggs at Breakfast or a yogurt parfait. I am of the opinion that healthy options are available just about anywhere. We just have to find them. .
