  1. Dear DISTANT0098 Go to the store and get some PEDIALYTE, you are down in electrolytes!! THe exact same thing happened to me and I thought I was losing it as I NEVER get headaches.... WIthin an hour or two I was feeling better and energetic too... its amazing what some potassium and salts will do for you! I also used an ICE BAG on my head and tylenol Best of luck
  2. Thanks Danny; MsPris; Congratulations on getting bumped up on your surgery. Making up my mind to have this surgery was one of the hardest decisions I've ever made... but once I made it... I just wanted it over with.. that being said I had it on Wed. so now am day#3 Post-op... Good energy today, but I got the runs... which is kind of a drag.. I re=read my post op discharge notes from teh Doctor and THEY DID mention that some folks get diarhea... as you are only taking IN liquids, so what comes OUT is liquids too.. makes sense now that I think about it... Oh well, a learning curve for sure, tomorrow I'll get to start Protein shakes in the afternoon I can hardly wait for that stage... Keep a positive mental image of how you will look and feel a year from now.... if you do that I am SURE that you will relax and realize that you made the best decsion for yourself. Take care
  3. Hey, any of you Guys NURSES out there???? I am day 3 post op and having bad diarhea!!! on all clear liquids right now. Is it o.k. to take some Pepto bismol??? or Imodium??? Answers appreciated.
  4. Prairielover: ROTFLMAO,,, nope sorry I can't help with the ticker... I told you I was no IT Brainiac!!
  5. Dear PRAIRIELOVER; Welcome abourd!! If you look at the top left of the page, you'll see HOME and beside it CPuser.... If you click on CPUSER it will take you to a place where you can EDIT your Signature... that's how I got all my stats and stuff to appear. Now mind you "I" am no techno brainiac... there are the 'younger' gals on this sight who can give you a lot more info than I ... But this will get you started anyway. I had my LAP on Wed 11 July and I am two days into the CLEAR LIQ phase, 2 more to go and then I get 10 days of FULL LIQUIDS... I can hardly wait! Nice to meet you! ;o)
  6. I also had my surgery 2 days ago in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. All I am allowed until Sunday is CLEAR fluids, Apple Juice, Grape Juice, Broth, Jello & Popsicles. and the SF Popsicles gave me the runs!!!! Argh!! I am drinking Pedialyte right now and its making me feel a bit more energetic. I've been walking too it helps with the gas. But I gotta confess I'd KILL to have teh Pre-op diet right now!~!!! Cottage cheese~Yogurt~ awh ... they sound like divinity~ This stage too will pass, just 2 more sleeps
  7. KERO, I am a Compulsive Overeater (Overeaters Anonymous) and have no power over food... There are meeting for folks like us and perhaps that combined with the LAPBAND "tool" will be the ultimate answer
  8. KERO, You read my ticker correctly, however, I lost 40-45 (down from the 240) myself thru excersise and counting calories... but then for a whole year I plateaued.. and I was starting to really screw around with my food choices and was terrified that I would regain my weight {as I had always done in the past}... So that is why I wanted the BAND to continue to lose and get down to me REAL goal of 130... so the Second number is where I started my Lapband adventure from, 3rd number is my Current-today weight/ and the 4th number is where I am going!
  9. Yuppers, we're Canadian eh? Just a few differences in vocabulary... we say "ro-o-o-f" and you say "Ruof" that always cracks me up when I am watching "This old Yankee Workshop" with Norm Avrams.. My DH LOVE the guy!!!! Seriously!!! I used to live in Victoria B.C. and it is truly a beautiful spot in Canada.. But I LOVE Nevada too!!!! Las Vegas is a fav. destination of mine and I'd love to retire for the winter months to Arizona... ah,joy, oh bliss!!! But I'd always come home for the Spring, Summer and Fall here you just can't beat "Our Home and Native Land".....~~~~~
  10. I am not on ANY Protien right now... just Clear liquids, Apple juice, SF Popsicles, SF/FF Jello, crystal light... but this afternoon I heard back from teh clinic and she said to drink somePedialyte... as I have had a nasty headache yest and today... This seems to be doing the trick as I am feeling better as I write this... I can make it until Sunday at noon.... down 10 lbs.
  11. July 28th is the luncheon, Kelseys in Mississauga 12 noon
  12. Hey V Man, you in Barrie & Im in the Beach... how long you been banded?
  13. anybody heard from BIG WAVE DAVE (Aloha)???? He got banded yesterday like me and I've searched and can't find him... God Bless him wherever he is.
  14. Barix Clinic in Ypsylanti Michigan did Gastric Bypass on my dear friend (she didnt' qualify for Lap band which they also do there) Her Dr. Kam was excellent, and she'd do it all over again... no regrets whatsoever... she has lost 68 lbs. since Feb surgery.
  15. Sorry, someone asked about crushing pills. I have a couple of nasty tasting Rx's so I crush them and add a Chewable GasX crushed, kinda makes it all a little more palatable, then I scoop it up with a spoon and swallow with some crystal light... I got thru today o.k. doing that.
  16. Welcome Sheelagh!!! Always room for one more bander KathyBadL: Yeah it was great to meet you too. My surgery went well, op at 12:30 recovery for a while (I was so groggy that I couldn't remember who put my clothes back on when I got home?) I slept all the way across the 401 and up the 400, didn't remember that either. THen once I got home I slept for another 2 hours. Then I went for a little walk back and forth in front of my house for about 15 mins. to get ride of some gas... Slept pretty good until 5 a.m. then gas had me up walking again. But honestly no REAL pain... just kinda uncomfortable with these "bubbles" churning up and into my left shoulder.. no worries. I took a Tordol and some liq. tyl then my other meds... getting sick of straight fluids though. I gotta hang in with that until SUNDAY. Then I get to have a shower and Full fluids!!! YEAH, Oh joy oh bliss... I can hardly wait. Funny, couldn't hardly wait to have the surg, now I cant' wait for full fluids again. then I'll be whining about mushi... LOL I am silly. My first fill is Aug 27th back in T.O>
  17. Hi there; I did see a psychiatrist for a year or two when I was first diagnosed. about 15 yrs ago. SInce then I have been stable and only see my Family Doctor for repeats on meds... NO I did not need to see a mental health professional prior to lap band consult and surgery. I ended up switching anti-depressants this past week to Zoloft, which is a capsule and I open it and just sprinkle into liquids or onto food. Working fine so far.
  18. Hello all you bandsters. Perhaps someone has a suggestion for me. I am on clear fluids until SUnday and its I am really hungry!
  19. I just put some Mazola Nostick in a pan, add 2 tsp. OLIVE Oil, crush a clove or two of garlic in and Saute my Salmon fillets.... it is very good. Also, Crushed Rosemary is Awesome with Garlic and Salmon... Good luck to everyone with the fish thing, this is very common
  20. I agree with Nurse76, this is not an easy way out. Luckily for me my Surgeon spoke to me and my DH about just that point. He said," it's just like an Artificial Knee Replacement, or HIP, or a pacemaker put into a failing heart... Would you deny one of those patients?" Oh course not, Obesity is an illness just as is arthritis, coronary hardening etc... Its just a stigma that WE"LL have to fight... I have already overcome the stigma of mental illness(Depression), this is just one more challenge. I am feeling blessed that I found this solution
  21. Trystella; Good luck to you, it will be just fine. I didn't have any nerves either LOL but when the Nurse took my BP just before surgery it was 170/80... just a wee high for me... I usually run 127/78 or 132/89 somewhere in there. I also do Yoga, I love it... my Doc suggested I take 4 - 6 wks before I try that or weight lifting... so It'll be Treadmill and eliptical trainer until then. Let usknow how you do tomorrow... WE're all here to cheer you on.
  22. Oh I forgot, the Doctor did offer me Demerol for the pain, but I declined as I had had a bad experience with it after the birth of my daughter... so he opted to give me Tordol, or I can take Liq. tylenol as well
  23. Goodday everyone: Yest was surgery, and I slept pretty good until about 5 a.m. Not sure if it was the Gas movement or that I had to pee??? However I stayed up and drank a Crushed Tordol with some consume... man it tasted good... Today, I've had jello, tea(decaf), more consume all my prescription meds crushed or sprinkled.. Doing o.k. Went for a 2 km walk WITH my water bottle.. perhaps it was a bit overadventuous but I am going to go have a nap now. Pain not too bad at all, much less than I had expected. Perhaps I'll photgraph my tummy for you all tomorrow! ((oh, I am such a tease!))
  24. Hi all, feeling good except for gas... but its not bad really... Crushed my GasX and now I am f@rting (sorry, gross) but with each one I feel a wee bit better.. Had some consume this a.m. with my multivit, zoloft when I crusched them all together it made it more palatable. Jello later on.... All is good Peaches

I just made my phone c alls to family and friends to let them know I am o..k. then I'm off to bed. Dr. Yau was very nice and explained so much for me...definetly "I" have all the answers now ... LOL While waiting for my Op I got to meet DONNAD in the flesh... that was so great. Last night I got to meet KathyBad... this is too cool to meet the very people you've been chatting to these last couple of weeks. Thank everyone on these boards who let me read their stuff and answer my questions and concerns. It really did mean a lot to have CANDID, and unsolicited information ahead of time.
