Got 5 cc's today at TLBC
KERO; Sorry, got trigger happy there LOL I forgot you asked about eating. I havn't tried yet... you only get liquids for teh rest of the day (FILL DAY) and I havn't had breaky yet, just got up... sipping on my first bottle of Water for the day as I type. But I am looking forward to scrambled eggs. I go back to TBLC in Sept11th for my next fill. About taking time off work to go back for each fill.... that's something you'll have to decide... one lady I met yest got a CD for her Physician. Her family Dr. agreed to do her subsequent fills in HIS office in her home town.. its an option. Personnally, I want to go back to the clinic - they are the experts as far as I am concerned and I want their follow up... I paid for it!!! Now that I have made the drive and know my "route" it'll be a snap next time. I can't begin to tell yu the confidence driving there yesterday gave me.... Take care, and try not to worry... We are all here for one another to answer questions and offer support

Got 5 cc's today at TLBC
Hi Kero Don't be nervous. It wasn't as stressful as the 'idea' of driving into T.O. for me anyways. The nurse has you lay back on a bed/couch/examining table, very comfortable. You raise your arms over your head to stretch out your tummy skin as much as possible and then she swabs with alchohol and I didn't even feel the needle. REALLY!!!! It was so fast I couldn't beleive it.!! I think the needle is so fine that it was painless. She had to tell me that "its done, you can go now".. If you got the MIDBAND French band like I did then it holds 9.5 cc's in total. I got 5 cc, which is what most folks start with and then they adj. up from there on subsequent visits. IF YOU NEED IT. Some people have enough restriction after one visit. But I don't think that is average. 2 to 3 fills is average and some people need 4 or 5... You will just never know and have to play it by ear.. everyone is an individual, you have to remember that and be flexable. There were 7 or 8 of us getting filled yest. and one gentleman couldn't tolerate the 5 cc. He was sipping his Water, slowly,, but it wouldn't go down .... it trickled down his 'opening'... after a couple of minutes he said to me " I am getting this thick saliva bubbling up".... He was "slimming" that's a body's signal that you are "stuck".... I told him to see the nurse right away ( I was scheduled to fill next but gave hilm my spot) and get a little taken out.. It took seconds for this adj. they took out 1/2 to 1 cc... and then he was fine again...

I was 2nd to last in getting my fill ( then I had to sit there and "sip" my Water bottle. That first "SIP" is really the hardest.. can't even begin to discribe the queer feeling that you get when you think 'water' will not even go down. BUT, it did I just took REALLY small sips (teaspoon) and then it got progressively better and easier... My drive home went well and I just finished 1/2 cup of beef consumme... it was WARmed so it went down easily too. Whew, glad that today is done. Grateful

Is this normal?
Hi there; I was banded 11 July, and I go for my 1st fill tomorrow!!!! I can hardly wait as I am HUNGRY too. At first I did Clear Liquids 4 days, then FULL liquids 14 days, then SEMI Soft food 14 days. Then SOLIDS.... I am able to eat ANYTHING right now and I hate it... this is what is known as Bandster Hell.... aptly named LOL. I did cheat abit on MUSHIE foods and switched to solids 4 days earlier than I was supposed to, but I was on Vacation at a cottage and I figured what the heck.... it was hard with communal meals with other NON bandsters. I am looking forward to my fill and hopefully I'll have some restriction.. so I can get this SHOW ON THE ROAD! Good luck to all.

New to The Group
Hi there, and welcome to the boards.!! I was banded 11 July and so I am six weeks out and expecting my first "FILL" Monday 27th Aug. The surg. was a breeze, only discomfort for me was the Gas pains for 2 days after. But that was easily controlled by walking and tylenol.. I didnt' need anything stronger for pain... I feel very fortunate be have been able to get this surg. and would do it again in a second. keep reading and ask LOTS of questions.

Oh My my TUMMY is rumbling as I type this... I had a can of tuna 45 mins. ago and I'm hungry again already!!! I have my fill on Monday and I have been going over the driving directions all day. ( I am a timid driver in Toronto) and will be avoiding all the highways.. I am planning to allow 3 hrs for my trip so it should be o.k. I am so looking forward to some restriction. This past 6 wks has been a challenge and I am SO looking forward to LOSING SOME WEIGHT... I know it will happen, I just gotta get thru a couple more days of Bandster hell. LOL I was reading the posts about the little boy "Hunter" and his preschool testing. Man-o-man when will the 'system' stop trying to lump our kids all into the same mold. Sheesh, I only had one daughter (now 29) and so certainly "I" am no expert... but kids are INDIVIDUALS with their own gifts, talents and shortcomings... Thank GOD we are all not destined to be Pro Baseball or Football players??? I am SURE that your child will grow into a Loving, caring compationate person -- that's what matters, not weather they can catch a bean bag.. My DD was very uncoordinated athletically (got that from her DAD) but she is a WIZ at computers, great with people and is now a Computer Analyst working for Univ. Of North Carolina!!! Now this is a kid that FLUNKED math classes all thru High School!!! Go figure, once she got to university.... she applied herself and SHONE. Now, she still can't catch a bean bag or do a cartwheel to save her life.. but who cares. Oh yeah, also Her Kingergarden teacher thought she was NOT doing well in Kind. and called me to the school to tell me she was a LOW performer... Ha,ha,ha... guess "we" had the last laugh as parents. We are proud as hell and YOU will be TOO!!! Best of luck & HUGS!~

Hi everyone; I've been away on vacation up north(Canada) and have been trying to read the last 2 wks worth of posts.... EXHAUSTING... Do you guys ever sleep>????? LOL Iread about the 'poopy' problem. Oh yeah, at the beginning(liquid) stages it was aweful, didn't think I'd ever be 'normal' again. But as I introduced solids everything started to work out fine... :-D Eating almost like a horse right now! I hate it!!! My fill is in 6 days and I am REALLY looking forward to restriction. My Volumes of food have probably not been Pre-op high, but definetly I have not made all the best food choices... I had french fries and Fish while up at the lake ... but those days will be over shortly right? Otherwise I feel really good. Question: does any one notice that their Stomach is making a lot more "noise" than it ever did before??? A couple hours after a meal, although I am not feeling hunger pangs yet, I get this RUMBLING like I havn't eaten food in days???? I don't have the burping problem some speak of. Weird?
-
I can't stop eating after my 1st fill ... help!!!!
they should know where to inject because of 1) the scar from the port entry and 2) because you can feel the little bump where your port is. Mine is just under the skin so I think that it will be easy to find.

Living in "bandster hell" myself right now, just trying to get by each day until my 1st fill... I havn't gained any wgt which is a marvel in itself...I just keep telling myself that THIS will be my LAST fat summer... then it makes it easier to restrain myself. Hang in there

Mushies Stage Recipes
Pumpkin Custard pudding - for mushy phase I 've been making this for a while on WW. 1/2 of a 28oz can of PUMPKIN ( the veg. not the pie filling) 1 large can of Evaporated Skim Milk (carnation works fine) 2 eggs, beaten 1 cup Splenda sweetner 1 1/2 tsp. Cinnamon 1/2 tsp. Allspice 1/4 tsp Nutmeg or any othe Pumpkin Pie spice combo that YOU like. I spray 6 ramkins with PAM, then divide the liquid evenly. BAKE in 350F oven for 45 - 50 mins. or until toothpick inserted in centre comes out dry. this is delicious and is a family favorite, very filling and FULL of Protein and fibre.

Ontario to cover lapband surgery in 2008
Wow, wonders never cease! I too would be pleased for the others who follow me into LAP BAND... but I have my doubts. A previous question was "how long is the wait time for RnY in Ontario by Cdn Doctors?" and how long a wait would it be for Lapbanders???" Well, one thing I know for sure. As my Best friend was approved by OHIP (paid for ) to go to the US. (Michigan Barix clinic) for her surgery. all she had to do was prove that a Canadian surgeon would not see her fro a consultation for at least a YEAR and then Surgery would be another 2 yr wait... Her health was so drastically affected by her weight that OHIP approved her in 10 days and the clinic opperated on her in two wks of that!!! so from start to finish it was one month for her.. She had her bypas in Feb and has lost over 65 #'s since then. (I went with her) Don't forget WE can use our $16,000 bill on our incometaxes this year as a deduction.

don't worry its not a pitty party... you are NOT alone in this... I am in Bandster Hell right now too. I have to wait until 27th Aug for my 1st fill... seems like an eternity from now...3 weeks. ARGH! I am hungry too, but drinking a pro shake for breaky, taking one for mid morning snack, then a huge V8, Lunch I had some chicken salad.. and a cup of tea. Supper will be spaghetti squash, choppec chicken & pasta sauce with cheese on top... Yogurt for snack tonight if I need it. it is yucky when your post surgery swelling goes, as I thought " Hey, I'm having some restriction"... .. NOT cruel joke on me
