  1. I'd love to. Barix is where I was going to have it if my insurance covered it. They're pretty nice there. I have to call and see if I can get my fills there.
  2. Hi all I am from Gregory which is a small town on the border of Livingston, Washtenaw, Jackson and Inghan counties. We have Teamsters insurance and they no longer require the year or 6 months of a controled diet. BMI of over 40....letter from surgeon.....letter from primary care doctor.....psych evaluation. I spent a year trying to get my insurance to cover it but I was severely depressed and kept hitting roadblocks. Finally, I flunked the psych evaluation and made the decision to go to Mexico. Two weeks later, I was banded by Dr. Ortiz. I have not had any depression since I made the decision to have the surgery and now I am ten days out and feeling great. Is there anyone else out there from my area? I do know of a few women who have had the gastric bypass surgery but not the lapband. Between the pre op diet and the 10 days since banding, I have lost somewhere around 20-25 lbs.
  3. I went to Dr. Ortiz in Tijuana. First Class all the way. Everyone spoke excellent english. there were two surgeons, an anesthesiologist. We were put up in a classy hotel and chauffered from airport to hotel to clinic. The clinic was new, clean and up to date. I just can't put into words how great it was. Awesome, first class. Just great ! !
  4. I was banded a week ago and the nutritionist told me to dilute the juice with water or I would get diahrea. I did but still got a slight case. Not much but now I have gas and the stuff that is coming out of me looks like green algae. Is that normal?? I think it's bile but it is nasty looking and I don't know if that is normal.
  5. Nic I was banded just last week in Tijuana. I started about a month ago researching the net for a doctor. I felt the same way you did. I was leaning towards Monterrey and said no way to Tijuana. I finally decided on Dr. Ortiz in Tijuana and was so impressed with the experience. It was awesome. I just can't emphisize that point enough. It was first class all the way, from the clinic, to the hotel, to the doctors and nurses. It was fantastic and I feel just great ! ! !
  6. I was also banded on the 18th. If I were you, I'd call the surgeon. It seems to me that there is something wrong. I can't even tell anything is there except for a little tenderness around the biggest incision. I was up and moving around the same day, and no pain.
  7. Sandy, I was just banded in Mexico last week by Dr. Ortiz in Tijuana. It was a great experience. I was super impressed with the doctor and his clinic. Very up to date, clean and they all spoke excellent english. The cost was $8500. I decided which doctor to use and had the surgery just two weeks later. GREAT EXPERIENCE ! ! ! ! I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Kari
  8. My surgery is this Monday, the 16th. I've been on a pre op diet for two weeks now and have lost 10 lbs. A protein drink for breakfast and lunch and a lean cuisine for dinner. and all the green stuff I want. I have been drinking Glucerna because of diabetes and it doesn't taste too bad. kind of like cold hot chocolate.
  9. Hello I am from Michigan and am getting banded July15 in Mexico with Dr. Ortiz. Will anyone else be there then? I am looking forwasrd to this but I am nervous. Any tips?
