About Me

Proceeded quickly through the Kaiser approval process. Started nutritional classes and lifestyle change classes which were very helpful and gave you a detailed plan of how the surgery would proceed and how your lifestyle would be changing. I was asked to lose 15 pounds before seeing the surgeon for the second time on September 26th. I lost the weight + 1 extra pound and was scheduled for the surgery on October 3rd. No special diet before surgery just a dose of milk of magnesia the morning before and a light dinner. No drinking after midnight. Day of surgery went efficiently at Kaiser South San Francisco. I was out of surgery by 11 am and in my private room by noon. Pain was kept under control with meds but I did have very bad nausea that was difficult to control. In fact, that has been my biggest problem so far. I also had a headache that just went away late last night.. All the nurses at Kaiser SSF were great as were the doctors and nursing assistants. Today, day 5, I am feeling better. The headache is gone and the nausea is a little better. Not really looking forward to eating anything but I know I must. I am sipping throughout the day but not getting down enough liquid. Will continue to work on it though. Maybe some tomatoe soup with protein added later this morning.
