Policy Change
Call your insurance and ask them how long the approval is good through. Mine was approved for a 6 month window from the date I was approved.

Nervous & Struggling
Just remember that you can get thru the preop diet & then you can have your surgery! It's worth it. Yeah, there's minor pain... it's surgery. But I'm a wimp & did just fine. They give you happy juice to help Like PP said, your ab muscles will mostly be sore. It'll pass. I'm less than a week out & feel about 90% recovered. That's pretty amazing in my book!

Anyone smoke weed before or after surgery?
Just out of curiosity, how do u "dab oil"? Do u dab it on ur wrists or something? Where would one get oil? Do u make it urself? Just curious. Never heard of it... My partner makes it. It is made of marijuana and extracts just to THC. Your left with a product that looks like honey. I then take a small 'dab' (hence the name), which is about the side of the end of a ballpoint pen. You can use a regular bong, like you've probably seen before, but on the end, instead of a bowl to put pot into, there's a metal plate. You heat up the metal plate so it's very hot (red hot) and then put your 'dab' of oil on it, which creates a vapor that you inhale. It's better for your lungs than smoking pot, and much more efficient Hope that helps. PS- I'm not saying that this is a fabulous habit. I'm in therapy for a reason. It's just that, like a lot of things in my life, I've taken it too far and indulged too much. I do, however, very much disagree with the above statement that it's 'illegal for a reason.' In my opinion, that reason has a lot more to do with money and big pharma than the 'risks' of marijuana.

As an every day user, no. But if I take a break, it creates the munchies.

Anyone smoke weed before or after surgery?
I live in WA & dab oil (highly concentrated THC.) Quitting for a couple weeks beforehand. My surgeon's fully aware. He'd be a lot more concerned about cigarettes. I plan to dab oil again once I'm about 2-3 weeks out.

December 2013 Sleevers This Is Our Month Are Yall Ready!?
I had day 1 of my preop diet today... went pretty well. It's interesting how everyone's surgeons have different preop diets. Mine is 3 protein shakes a day and a small meal, like a Lean Cuisine. I have one more protein shake left that I'll have for a snack after I put my son to bed. Abby good luck tomorrow! Go Dec 2013!!

Out Of Pocket Expenses.
I feel your pain. My insurance went through, but I'm paying about $7,500 out of pocket after insurance. It's hard to complain though, when there are so many out there w/o insurance coverage at all, or at least that's what I keep telling myself. I just try to keep that in mind when I feel discouraged about how much I have to pay out of pocket.

Terrible Guilt
Sounds to me like they aren't fully supporting you if they are bribing you not to do it. I'd tell them no thank you, and please no more bribes. If it's not supportive of YOUR decision, then they need not offer alternatives.

SO HAPPY!
Wow that is amazing! The way this surgery wipes out diabetes for some people (as does gastric bypass) is just incredible! You must feel like you have a new lease on life... congratulations!

Broke down in tears today when I found out my oop cost
Great news... the clinic is financing half of it for me. It's still going to be tight. But I can do this. I'll probably save a lot in food anyway! Hoping for December 2013 surgery.

Broke down in tears today when I found out my oop cost
It's just way more than I can afford... When I thought it was $3-5k, I thought that was something I could somehow, someway, scrape together with my (modest) job before end of year. Now that I have gotten an actual accurate estimate today (after practically cornering the insurance lady), I'm finding it's going to be more like $7-$10k. Bad credit I have. In house financing they don't have No supportive family with good credit to cosign Applied for carecredit today... denied. Called around to other local provider, only to find that they are more expensive. I have a bunch of stuff dropping off my credit in Aug 2014 so it'll be much better then. But I don't want to have to wait!! Argggg...... I'm just so disappointed, after having my hopes worked up that this would all work out. I feel like I was taken advantage of with a bait-n-switch from the sales lady at the weight loss clinic. She make it sound like no biggie with the out of pocket part, we'll just put you on a small monthly payment arrangement. It got my hopes up. I'm seriously considering lap-band just because it's actually something I can afford.

Be honest - does anyone regret the surgery?
Hey there, I appreciate your honesty. I feel it's important to hear it all, the good, the bad, the ugly before going into surgery. If you'd care to expand I'd be interested to hear more about your experience and why you have regrets.

Appeals!
Sorry to break it to you, but my clinic said if there's an exclusion, then it's not going to happen through your insurance. Good luck
