  2. Met for my consultation today and walked out with my date! I'm on the books for November 20th!!! Ahhhhh I am so excited! I've been researching and considering this for a couple years now and I can't quite believe it!!!! I'm so ready to be healthy!!! Push over losers I need some room on that bench!!!!
  3. Good luck with your preop diet starting today! Let us know how day 1 goes! I am hoping for some strange reason at my appt Thursday he will say "hey I have an opening on such and such a day!" And get me in faster than expected!
  4. Awesome when is it?? Mine is Thursday with Dr Halmi! I too am nervous and excited!
  5. You DID IT!!!!! I'm so pleased for you! Take this time to rest, get some good meds and take care of yourself, pretty soon you will be new and improved, so watch out folks!
  6. Well I went to a support group at the hospital and it was wonderful! I met so many wonderful SUCCESSFUL WLS folks and really enjoyed learning from them all! Now wish my consult would just hurry up already!
  7. Awesome! The support meeting last night at Woodbridge was GREAT! Dr Halmi came and spoke and also a cosmetic surgeon! I met many wonderful successful WLS people! It really was a blessing to hear their stories and meet some folks from the office, Erin the Nut spoke too, she was so kind! I'm feeling antsy and wanting my consult o be tomorrow already...but alas, it's two weeks away :/ good luck at your upcoming apps, imagine if we got same surg day!?
  8. That's wonderful! Congrats and best wishes on your journey to a new YOU!
  9. I'm right there with ya, only my Mom, hubby, one friend and neighbor who's daughter is babysitting for us and beginning to inquire what we need sitting so often for these days for...told her mom to keep it quiet for now until I decide what I want to do. I am the same usually an open book, but the judgement I know I'll face has me thinking why bother!? Still trying to decide for feel of hurt feelings on some family & friends part, like would they be offended I didn't think they'd be supportive? It's a tough choice!
  10. Awww hang in there, I can't speak from experience yet but hopefully when all the trauma and swelling from surgery subsides so will the pain! Thinking of you!
  11. Oh my goodness just saw my last sentence "cannot weight to sit in the losers bench" wow what a Freudian slip but hey I'll pretend I intended the pun!
  12. Well it's about time I introduce myself and lose my security blanket so to speak! My name is Crissy from VA, I am 32 and Momma to 2 gorgeous boys(or at least I think so) they are 2&5 and they are my WHY along with their Daddy of course! I haven't been heavy my whole life but for the last 12 years I've put on ALOT of weight, to the tune of 75-80lbs! I am a mere 5' tall so being 210lbs makes me quite round I've been considering weight loss surgery for a couple years now starting with the LapBand, but my research has led me to believe that the VSG is what's best for me! Which has led me here for support! I've so enjoyed reading everyone's stories! Such inspiration! Thank you for sharing! So a bit more about me, I am a stay at home mom, which I think has also contributed to my increasing weight issue, not as much exercise as I once had in my physically demanding job. We've moved a few times for hubby's job and I think a bit of depression(tho not the crying weepy kind) has set in, I feel stuck! No family within 600 miles, raising kids completely on our own, I do believe in the old addage "it takes a village!" I've happily put everyone and everything else first for a long time now, but it's caught up to me. I've tried "everything" to lose weight, WW, Medifast, a plan and my docs office, working with a trainer, 2 hours-5 days a week at the gym and while I may lose 20 lbs here and there, it always returns! I'm stuck!!!! I long to have the energy to be able to chase my super active boys, to get down on the ground and be able to hop right back up! To be able to bend over to shave my legs or tie my shoes...To not be the ONLY heavy Mom out of my son's class :/ On two separate occasions by two separate children in his class I've been asked "why is your belly so fat?" And "How did you get so fat!?" And it took all I could not to cry my heart out then & there Thank GOD my son didn't hear nor did any other children! Talk about a wake up call! Kids are so brutally honest! I am thankful that my son does not even know the word "fat"...so far! I want to be healthy and be an example for my children and be here to watch them grow up, to enjoy spoiling THEIR babies! So this is really long already...I am just beginning my surgical journey and have a wonderfully supportive(and thin, able to eat 3 servings of dinner and not gain weight) man by my side! We've been to a group seminar a couple weeks ago & tonight we will be going to a local support group! I have my surgical consult on Oct 17th and am self pay sadly :/ my husband's company has their own private insurance and while it's run by BCBS it does not cover bariatric services! But I have finally realized I AM WORTH IT! I am ready to be ME again! Thanks for hanging on so long to read this, can't weight to sit on that loser's bench, save me a seat please!
  13. Welcome Wes I am also just coming out of my lurker shell!! I suppose maybe I should do an intro post as well! Happy birthday btw! What a great gift to give yourself, health & happiness! I am about where you are at, tho just turned 32, have two boys 5&2 and I am feeling like I'm missing out on those active things I could & should be doing with them! I have your same fears and I battle that paralyzing fear of not coming back from the hospital to my boys, i hunk it's completely normal. Best of luck in your journey look forward to hearing your updates
  14. I've just read this entire thread and I really feel teary reading your last post :/ I'm rooting for you girl, hang in there! I agree with Madam way to go with putting YOU first, this is YOUR TIME do t let him get in the way, you will find happiness and who better to do it for than yourself! Big hugs! PS I'm not English but I was being nosy and reading the post anyways Keep us updated!
  15. Awww congrats!!! You look gorgeous! What an inspiration!
  16. Prior to being a stay at home Mom, I was an MRI & X-ray Tech for 6 years.
  17. Hoping all went well, update us when you are up to it
  18. Awesome glad to hear it went well, can't wait to hear/see your progress!
  19. Wondering how your surgery went today! Thinking of you!
  20. Yay that is SO exciting!!!! I am going to check out the support group this week and hopefully make a consult with him as well! I've been to Fair Oaks for the seminar with Dr. Moazzez he was great, but want to check all my options so to speak! What's Dr Halmi's bedside manor like, I've heard great things about both! If you don't mind me asking can you share your timeline with me and are you self pay or insurance? I will be self pay bc our insurance is privately run by my hubby's company and a strict no bariatric surgery clause :/ would love to follow your progress! Best of luck to you, hoping I'm not too far behind ya
  21. Holy moley seeing your progress has me so psyched!!!!!!! My shape is exactly like yours!!!! I can't believe I could potentially have similar results!!!! Amazing woman, keep up that awesome attitude to go with your rockin' new self!!!!
  22. Wow, you look amazing! I'm sorry you had complications, so scary! Can you explain your symptoms that alerted you of the problem!? Not that the surgeon won't tell me when I have my surgery, but good to know!
  23. That's GREAT! I bet that felt amazing!!!!! Congrats!
