    August sleevers progress

Hey guys haven't posted in a while. Surgery date 8/27 HW 372, Surgery weight 347 CW 263. It has been a great journey so far. I had my bloodwork done in November and I got a call from the NUT saying that I needed to up my Iron, Vitamin A and Protein (since it was low in my blood) it was hard to start eating a bit more, but only upped my calories from about 650 to 750 so it wasn't bad. I was in a 3 week stall and super tired all the time, as soon as I made the changes I started losing again. This whole this is crazy!
  3. here's the recipe with some modifications I made... It was amazing, I changed the recipe for my tastes and needs. It really is great and very hearty with the way I made it... I also put it in the crock pot. I will share the link so you can see the original recipe as well. It made 12 1 cup servings (of which I could only eat 1/2 to 3/4 of, I just find measuring it one cup servings makes it easier in myfitness pal).. my husband ate it as well, (after he let me measure it all lol, he's such a trooper) which says a lot... Shelly's Italian Beef & Bean Soup (modified) 1 lb. Ground Beef (90/10) 1/2lb lean Jenni-o turkey Breakfast sausage in the tube 1/2 Tablespoon Olive Oil 1 1/2 tablespoon smart balance light buttery spread with flax 1 medium yellow Onion, chopped 2 Green Onions, chopped 3 cloves of Garlic, minced 1 tablespoon Italian Seasoning (0r more to taste) 1 tsp splenda 1 tsp red pepper flakes 2 15 oz cans of Beans, not drained (I used a combo of cannelini and northern beans) 4 cups Beef Stock (reduced sodium) 3/4 cup Tomato Sauce 2 teaspoon Tomato Paste 1 box frozen Spinach 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground Pepper Sauté onions and garlic in spread/oil and cook until golden about 10 minutes. Add beef and sausage brown together, Add the minced and Italian Seasonings and stir to coat the onions let cook for 2 minutes or so but stir constantly so it does not burn. Add the rest of the ingredients to the crock pot, then add the beef/turkey/onion mixture. Cook on low in the crock pot for about 4 hours until warm and bubbly. (you can let it go longer if you need to, the longer they are together the more the flavors meld). Nutrition information.... makes approximately 12 one cup servings (adjust with that based on needs like I said I can only eat 1/2 to 3/4's of a cup at a time) it is very hearty... I would recommend measuring for yourself I do all the time no matter the recipe. ( I put every ingredient into myfittness pal) 189 calories 6.5 fat 43.3 cholesterol 750 sodium (you could omit some of the salt to lower this) 14.6 carbs 4.5 Fiber -so 10.1 actual carbs-mostly from the beans 2.7 sugar 19.6 Protein here is the non-modified link (I did change a few things) http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2007/12/soups-on-again.html

    favorite NSV's/most anticipated NSV's

I think a huge one for me had just been the energy and how well I'm sleeping. I have a cpap that I don't wear like I'm supposed to and recently my husband said to me you know you don't snore anymore you are freaking me out with how quiet you sleep. Also I am not breathing so hard so other people have said. These may not be huge to everyone else cut they are for me.

I haven't been here in a while but you ladies are doing amazing. My hw was 373 and my sw on 8/27 was 347 today I am 301! I am going to the gym about 3-4x's per week using the treadmill on an incline and the elliptical. I'm very much enjoying this process. Getting in all my protein has been a chore but it's nice to be able to eat the normal foods again, however it is also a challenge because just because I can eat it doesn't mean I should!
  7. I actually jogged on the treadmill tonight at an incline... granted it was only like 30 seconds to a minute, but I did it. I am very excited for myself.

I'm SarahJean2... I can't believe i'm four weeks out tomorrow. It has been a fast one that is for sure! Anyone feel free to add me. :-)
  12. I am definitely an apple. I have lost almost 50lbs since my highest weight and all the weight is coming off in my butt... a place i didn't really need to lose a ton I feel like i can fit a small toddler in the butt of my pants, but the waist is only a little baggy not enough to switch sizes.
  13. I'm two weeks out from surgery today and I have lost 18lbs since surgery, 43 since the start of my preop liquid diet. I am pretty large so you can't tell much, but today I bit the bullet and joined a gym. I realized that this journey is for me and I'm going to make the most of my tool. I didn't care about what others might have thought about me or that I was sweating my butt off just walking on the treadmill, it was just about me pushing myself to be better. I'd say that is a great victory for me!

    August sleevers progress

I had surgery august 27th i started preop diet on sugust 17th. My highest weight was 372 I got down to 347 day of surgery and I'm at 331. I can't believe I've lost 40lbs total in less than a month and 16 since surgery although my follow up appointment is on Wednesday and I don't know if I've lost enough

    August 27th anyone!

I'm going to start purées on Wednesday after my follow up appointment. It has been a struggle for me to get all my protein in since early out I Had a reaction to whey. I'm looking forward to puréed tuna and chili so at least I can get some more in. I have found using a baby spoon and small dipping bowls help me to slow down when I'm eating my strained cream soups so I'm going to continue to use that method when I go to purées I'm very excited but nervous as well
  16. I just had surgery on Tuesday and the most ugly for me about the whole thing was I got the dry heaves the 2nd night so bad I thought I was going to rip my stomach out. They made me stay an extra day because of it. I was very thankful for the nurse that was on that night, he did everything he could to help me.
  17. unfortunately they don't open until 9 because they want me to get and EKG as well again... I figured that was coming because I have a heart condition, so i have to wait until after work at 4:45 to go.
  18. so i'm on day 4 of the preop liquid diet, (3 shakes, 3 servings of dairy, and 1 cup of veggies) is all my surgeon allows and I'm struggling but doing ok. Broth really helps me. However today I got a call from the hospital and the doctor wants me to go in for more labs. I have to go in on thursday, and this means 8 hours of fasting completely just water. I wanted to say to the lady are you f**ing kidding me. I didn't though, I just said ok. Maybe it's the lack of food and the adjustment but i just wnat to cry. I'm sorry for venting. :-(

    Carnation instant breakfast.

my nut recommends this but says to add non fat milk powder to boost protein. She also said though that protein powders are better, just some people can't handle the protein powders so she says no sugar added carnation is allowed if you add the powder to boost the protein.
  20. SarahJean30

    Going Crackers?

At the preop class i went to the NUT stated that we could have saltines on the pureed stage but only like 1 broken into smaller peices as a vehical but she stated very emphatically that there must be more tuna or chicken than cracker. She just said that sometimes people like the crunch and by this point are in need of some. But with always the reminder... protein first.
