  2. Congrats Callchrissy! My surgeon is also Dr. Ganser. Probably not till spring cause of insurance :0( How are you doing since surgery?
  3. I'm sure the 100 lbs is after wls. I was told I need to lose 10% of the total I need to lose before surgery. I need to lose 90-100 lbs so 9-10 lbs. That won't be a problem during my 2 week liquid diet.....
  4. I was told I need to be on a liquid for 2 weeks before....gosh, that sounds hard!!!! And I should lose 10% of the total I need to lose. I need to lose 90-100 so 9-10 lbs before surgery. Since I have 6 months that shouldn't be a prob :0)
  5. Fit-It will cool to watch your progress since we are similar. How much did you have to lose before surgery?
  6. In an effort to be accountable, I meant to post yesterday my 1st month goals..... Eat Breakfast every day No late night snacking No late night snacking will be sooooo hard!!!!
  7. There's 2 main weight loss surgeons in town and both offer a doctor supervised diet. My PCP would also do it. My insurance wants someone supervising my weight & eating, etc for six months. I've heard insurance will accept weight watchers, jenny Craig, etc. Hope that helps :0)
  8. After months of research and finally mustering up the courage to see the doc my insurance tells me I MUST do a 6 month prescribed diet. Really????? Umm, hey insurance company, if you'd look at my health history for the last 15-20 years you'd see, I'm still fat. Anywho, today was my first meeting. 6 months should fly by and I look forward to "learning" how to live after surgery. Today the nutrionist talked about cravings. Boy oh boy do I know about these..... It was refreshing to hear suggestions for ignoring or changing those cravings. Here's my pre req requirements for those presleevers: Rmr test H-pylori test Psych eval Nutrional eval (my 6 month of classes should cover it) Support group meeting Bariatric nut class Letter of support from PCP Steps to success class I'll start most of those reqs about December, 1/2 way through my 6 month diet. My stats today. 5'4", 235-240lbs :0( Good luck everyone. Lynne
  9. Kayleen-we'll be thinking about you and sending positive thoughts your way. What preop stuff did you have to do? Mandy-that is fantastic news!!!!! Big congrats!!!! Any major advice for us pre-sleevers?
  10. Hi ladies. I just had my 1st consult this week AND I have to do a 6 mo doctors supervised diet.....ugh!!! If my insurance had been following me for the last 15 yrs they'd know this wasn't necessary. I'm also 5'4" and about 235 lbs. I'd love to know what your preop reqs are? I'll post mine later :0)
  11. Loved reading this!!!! Thank you for sharing. Now that you're almost a year out, how much have you lost?
  12. How much have each of you lost?
  13. So, I finally got the courage to fill out the paperwork to make my first initial appointment only to find out my insurance requires 6 months of a doctors diet. Ugh!!!!! I've been off and on phentermine for over 3 years with no real weight loss. Did anyone else have to do the 6 month diet?
  14. That is good to hear. My hubs doesn't understand why I can't just eat less & exercise.......you mean like I've been trying to do for years!!!!! Lynne
  15. That's awesome to hear brook. How much do you want/need to lose? 4 weeks all liquid!!!!!! Do you ever think if you just stayed on an all liquid diet till you hit your goal, you wouldn't need the surgery. I'm embarrassed I can't do it on my own.....Anyone struggle with that?
  16. Is there anything us 'pre-ops' can do to prevent a leak? So glad to hear you're doing better :0)
  17. Mandy, we'll be thinking of you come the 10th :0). Jen- good luck tomorrow. How much did you lose during the 2 week liquid diet? I'm really on the fence.....scared to death to commit. What if some thing goes wrong? What if I'm worse off after the surgery? Surely, I'm not the only one that had those thoughts? Not sure I can stop drinking.....I'm a social drinker and love hanging out with friends over a cocktail. Are you all part of local support groups? Lynne
  18. Why the bay area? What pre-op stuff have you had to do?
  19. Brook, I just replied to you on another thread.....sorry, still figuring out how to post from my phone. I'd love to hear how both of you are doing? What pre-op stuff did you have to do? Lynne
  20. Thanks for responding, brook. How did your surgery go? How's it been since you've been sleeved?
  21. I'd love to hear how local girls are doing?
  22. I'm in Sparks. I'd love to connect...... How did your surgery go?
  23. Oh, and how much out of pocket did others pay?
  24. I have BCBS also. I'm at the VERY beginning of my journey. What pre-op stuff does bcbs require? 3-6 months of dieting????
