this may start a riot.
It soothes me to realize that there are others out there just as depraved as I.

I wonder how much protein is in your standard, everyday sized booger?

this may start a riot.
As we're sitting down to dinner last night, at a restaurant, with two foster sons we had for respite.....the youngest starts digging for gold. I pretend not to notice. But then I notice the table beside us noticing. And disapproving. So me being me, I decide to route for the underdog, and start giggling and ever-so-gently encouraging the treasure hunt. The moral of this story is.....live and let live. Let people be who they are. And watch out for the really hard, crusty ones.

Everyone picks their nose! It's what you do with the proceeds that ultimately defines who you are a person.

Thanksgiving ~ One week post-op

Thanksgiving ~ One week post-op
One week and one day after I am sleeved will be Thanksgiving. I will be on a pureed diet on that day. It's just my husband and I at home and I don't want him to suffer just because I have to eat pureed foods. What should we make, or buy beforehand, to make our lives easier? I was thinking one of those pre-made Thanksgiving dinners from the grocery store, but even that seems too large and too much work to reheat and carve, etc.

A1C
My surgeon goes with the theory that the surgery will change my A1C so he's not worried about my numbers before surgery. They are too high for my liking and so I'm trying low carb as much as possible. My surgery is on Nov 20

what are chances of gallbladder problems after sleeve
I asked my surgeon this yesterday when I met with him. He is not going to remove my gallbladder during surgery (which I thought would be the answer to any problems). He is putting me on meds for six months to lessen the chance of having any issues.

the fat fills in the wrinkles?
He's just one of our three Stooges! All have mushed faces,,,,two Pugs and a Boxer. They say that people start to resemble their dogs......

the fat fills in the wrinkles?
I want to preface this by saying I really don't care, I'm just curious. I've always wondered, when you lose the weight, do you tend to look older? I've found that many "overweight" people that I know, including myself, seem to have less wrinkles. I'm looking forward to a healthier me so that I can have my hernia fixed, so whatever happens, happens. So, what happens?

Meal suggestions
Am preparing for coming home after surgery on November 20. I am to have pureed food prior to leaving the hospital. It's just my husband and I at home, and would love suggestions on regular meals I can make to satisfy my Protein intake, as well as giving my husband a decent meal at the same time. I was thinking white bean chicken chili would be okay pureed? Soups? Maybe spaghetti and meatballs while I only eat the meatballs?

this may start a riot.
I can understand the frustration from having a different plan than others. But my frustration is with people in real life, not on this board. I have a very different pre and post op diet than most. I am having my surgery done at a Center of Excellence, and so I will follow what they tell me to do. I have friends in real life who have begged me to find a new NUT because "you have a really bad Nut". That offended me. I'm a relatively smart individual and have gone with the most experienced team I could find for this surgery. Just because a plan is different than your own, does not mean you have a "bad" team, or Nut, or surgeon,

Another year, cancer free!
No fun. I'm 2.5 years out now and still am a wreck for my scans. I discussed with surgeon what would happen if my scans came back bad. He said the cancer would take priority over the surgery. I hope it all turns out well for you!!
-
Another year, cancer free!
they make you wait a WEEK to get results? I would not survive the wait. I get my scans and xrays and then go to urologist where she's already read the scans!

Another year, cancer free!
My pre-surg diet is high Protein low carb regular food, no eating after midnight day before surgery....and post op is pureed foods before leaving hospital.

Another year, cancer free!
My day started at 8 AM this morning, with EKGs, pre-testing, blood work, meetings with surgeon, etc. End result, I am approved for surgery on November 20! Added bonus? Had my scans and xrays for my bladder cancer today, all clear! What a relief!!

Survival skills for the 14 day pre-op diet
I have no pre-op or post-op liquid diet. Just high Protein and low carb a week before. Every surgeon is different. And I am going to a Center of Excellence Bariatric Center, so I'm trusting what they tell me to do!

I'm a list maker
Probably WAY too much info, but.....two years ago I had chemo and then had my bladder removed due to bladder cancer....and had a new bladder built out of my intestines. Long story even longer....my digestive system is now, and probably forever, messed up. Thus, I always have stool softeners as well as anti-diarrhea medicine on hand. There are times in a week that I take one thing one day, the other the next. But thanks!! I'll make sure I have Miralax on hand, much quicker than the stool softener I usually use.

I'm a list maker
I think I will be making my own with Crystal Light Pure. Can't find any made without artificial sweeteners.

Pre-Surgical testing
Our Barney has the same attitude. He will sit where he thinks it's appropriate. Period. This is a photo of our very first Pug. We adopted him when he was found wandering around with the Saint Bernard. We wanted a Saint, we adopted both and fell in love with Pugs. Otis the Pug and Buska the Saint.

post op diet

Pre-Surgical testing
I will never ever get another Pug puppy again. I don't have the energy for it. Our Barney was a nightmare for the first four years of his life!! Only older dogs for us from now on! There are Pug rescues all over the place!
