    Popcorn

I'm right there w/you! I sooo want popcorn too! LOL I'm 8wks out and I'm afraid to try it just yet. I will prob wait until 6months before I try. I think my Dr might release me to eat it at my 3m, but I'm too scared it will cause problems(that and I love it and don't want it to be my "trigger" food) plus right now it's a fine balancing act between trying to get all my protein/water in and watching calories. Don't have room for it in my daily food schedule, but sure would kill for a bowl full!! Its especially hard because my husband and boys eat it nightly! But I have resisted and am so proud of my willpower! That is half the battle, fighting temptations
  2. Oh my!! Sounds just like me!! I'm wondering the same thing lol. I'm 8 weeks out and I'm constantly making weird noises.. Always excusing myself.. Gas comes and goes... Haven't had a problem w/it in a while, but tried broccoli for the first time on Sunday and have been gassy ever since! Ugh!! My two young boys are loving the new "rude" mom haha!! They think its funny! ????
  3. Me too!! I had the sleeve, are you doing the RNY?

    Pcos question...

I'm 8 wks out and have noticed a slight decrease in facial hair, but not really enough to count... Hoping it does get better. My periods haven't returned yet either but I realize I'm not that far out yet, I guess I need to be patient.

    Nail polish off before surgery?

I asked at my preop apt about the hospital policy. My surgeons handbook said no polish, but the hospital said I could have it on my toes. I wanted to get a pedi so bad before surgery (partly to help me fill the day before surgery w/distractions lol) and didn't want to waste $ if they were going to make me remove the polish. They told me no color on my fingers but I could do clear. I just ended up leaving my hands alone.
  6. Hi! I'm in AR too... Had my surgery 11/19... Who are you going through? (Surgeon, program)
  7. I'm wondering the same thing. Had my surgery on the 19th. I'm able to take bigger sips and haven't been using my medicine cups for over a week now. I do get an uncomfortable feeling if I drink too much, and it still takes me pretty much all day to get all my fluids in, but I'm also concerned that my being able to take in more liquid at a sitting may damage my sleeve..
  8. I had my surgery on the 19th... Still on full liquids til the 5th. I too plan on just staying home this year as to avoid the smells and temptations. My wonderful mother is going to come stay w/me so I'm not all alone I'm really ok w/not partaking in the feast this year. Figured I've enjoyed (over ate) for 37 years and its not gonna hurt me one bit to set this one out! Looking forward to becoming healthier and having a new (better) relationship w/food. Learning to eat to live not live to eat. Still I will say that it will be sad not being around everyone tomorrow, but know that since most of the day will center around food and eating, I just don't need to expose myself to that just yet this early on.
  9. I have 6... The largest is on my right where they removed my stomach.
  10. My date is Nov 19th. I don't have to officially start my pre op diet until the 11th, but I am choosing to start it tomorrow. Figure it gives me a week to really get into the "groove" of it and hopefully be able to combat the temptations before I'm really required to be.

    No Endoscopy only Upper GI

Yes, that is most likely the reason.
  12. formyboys3

    No Endoscopy only Upper GI

I did... My surgeons office said that they always do an endoscopy, got my quote and everything...so when I went and only had the order for the UGI I asked why and they said because I didn't have reflux or other problems that would warrant a more detailed test and that all that was needed was the UGI... Still kinda wonder about it, but they seem ok w/ the results and I have never had issues w/reflux or ulcers or anything else like that... Hope this helps...

    NWA Dr. Roller?

Got a quick question... So I made the BA chocolate w/milk and it was shake like in consistency... Then I tried the strawberry w/ almond milk and it turned out thick like pudding... Did u run across this when u used almond milk instead of reg milk or is the strawberry a different texture? It was just weird....

    NWA Dr. Roller?

All I can say is wow!! Your MIL was right I'm thankful that Dr Roller was so attentive! You may have scared the crap out if him LOL! Thank you for letting me know how your doing. I do worry about the possible complications and it keeps going thru mind, but I'm like you, I feel very confidant in his abilities and at this point the benefits of the surgery far out weigh the risks. I did just read a post about someone about our age going into surgery and having major complications and she died...that does scare me, but I'm trying to remember that we don't know all the details and her current state of health going into surgery... And like I told my family, if its my time then it's my time and please be at peace w/that. Hate to sound so morbid, but I have to keep that frame of mind to get me thru this... The one thing that I need to do that has me upset is the pre planning such as making sure my husband knows where everything is at incase he needs it (I handle all the bills, computer and day to day stuff around the house) and I feel like I need to write letters to my husband, boys and family just in case... Do I sound crazy? I guess I just want to be prepared for the worst and pray for the best So, how are you doing now? Are you able to get up and around pretty good? Are you having trouble getting all your fluids in? I'll take any info good or bad that you can give me I don't get grossed out that easily and I would rather have the cold hard truth about it Thanks girl!

    NWA Dr. Roller?

How did it go today? Did he explain how the surgery goes? Like what he actually does? I've seen so many different variations on this surgery I just wonder what his procedure is like.... Will you have a drain? What time are you scheduled for on Monday? I have a friend who went thru this in Feb, tho she did the bypass and she said at her pre op apt there were a bunch of other people in there with her. Was it like that for you today? Was there anyone else who was doing the sleeve? I'm just curious because I know they do more bypasses than sleeves and all the people I've talked to this far have had the bypass and all the meetings I've gone to the people who have gotten up to give their testimony have all had the bypass... Besides this site I've not been able to connect w/anyone who has had the sleeve. I'm so glad to have found you on here and am hoping that after you "come out on the other side" you will be able to give me a better outlook on this whole process I like your idea of doing stuff for hubby! I think I will defiantly do that for mine and for the boys as well. My mom has been bringing me baby/child plates (some divided) to help w/portions later. I also read that a lot of people are using baby spoons or toddler silverware to help them take smaller bites. Thinking that's a pretty good idea! I will try the almond milk.. I've heard it's pretty good and I've been seeing on here where a lot of people become lactose intolerant after surgery. Did they say or give you anything to help w/the possible hair loss issue? I've also seen where people are taking a special supplement to help w/that. I don't envy you this week at all! I know it can't be easy. My mom kept telling me to "act like I was already sleeved" and just keep doing it and I could loose weight and wouldn't have to do the surgery. I told her if it was simply that easy I wouldn't be where I'm at now and part of this surgery is to reduce your stomach so you will get fuller and satisfied faster and thus be able to do what is required of you. We can't do that now... Just the thought of a week is killing me because I know how hard it will be. But I know I will stick to it because I don't want to mess up anything for surgery. Nothing like a good scare tactic to make you do what your supposed to do! LOL How long are you planning on taking off of work? Do you have a very demanding job? I work w/ children so when you mentioned the stomach bug it really got me thinking! If everything goes as planned I will hopefully be having my surgery in Sept/Oct which is right about the time you start catching all the dreaded stuff that comes along w/the start of school. SUPER!! Or should I say YIKES! I may have to wear a mask! Hahaha Almost there girl! Are you getting nervous?

    Need some encouragment

Hi Shannon I'm also in the process of figuring this whole thing out. I'm 37 and have two boys 11 & 7.... I'm 5', 262.... I too am fearful of something happening and leaving them w/out a mother and my husband w/out a wife... What keeps me moving forward is realizing that where I am right now is not healthy and tho I have no major medical issues due to my weight (besides sleep apnea) I know it's just a matter of time and I don't want to go there... My biggest fear is going under... I have had two c-sections, so the operation part I'm ok with, it's just the fear of going to sleep and not ever waking up... Or even having complications afterward... But I'm leaving it in Gods hands. And am looking at it also like if this was a surgery for anything else ie: cancer, back problems, another c-section (to bring a wonderful life into this world) I wouldn't hesitate one bit. So I've come to the realization that this is the best option for me and my health and that this is one of the greatest gifts I can give to myself and family. Having mom/wife around and able to function and be healthier. Hope this all makes since My mom has been the one who has been the most hesitant about this whole process, but besides the above reasons I mentioned I also explained to her that none of us are guaranteed tomorrow... And all we can do is do what is best for us in the moment/grand scheme of things... Look forward to all that you will be gaining by doing this, the benefits far out weigh the risks... I'm lucky to have found a surgeon that is wonderful.. Do your research (this site has been a wonderful resource for me) and make a decision your comfortable with. Don't rush into anything, take your time in making the choice. This is a huge decision, one you need to be at peace with ultimately. I'm still struggling and am thankful I still have another month to go before everything is submitted to insurance and I find out if I'm even going to be approved. It's giving me time to do more research and get prepared both physically and most importantly mentally. Because a big part of this will be mental. Also spending a lot of time in prayer. Hope this helps a little

    NWA Dr. Roller?

Hi I've been out of town and am just now getting on here. I plan on checking out that website tonight. So....today is the first day if your pre op diet, how's it going? This week will fly by and next Monday will be here before you know it Getting excited for you!! I have been doing so much research on here and I have a ton of questions to ask at my next apt... Also already starting to make lists of stuff to buy before hand. Looking up good soup recipes as well Have they said anything to you about taking anything for hair loss or anything to help with gallstones? So curious to know what all he tells you in your pre op meeting. Stay strong this week, you can do it!!

    NWA Dr. Roller?

I will defiantly check out that site and if i do order I will use your email No, I haven't gone to the support group yet either.. Have thought about going maybe once before just to ask some questions... I am curious about how many sleeves they have done vs bypass.. I know they seem to really talk a lot about the bypass... Would like to talk w/ some sleevers if there are any that go. I do have two wonderful boys 11 and 7... My weight problem started w/my first pregnancy and has gotten worse! The only people I've told so far are my husband and mother... I'm telling my best friend tomorrow, she has known me since the 7th grade and knows the skinny me I know she will b supportive. I haven't told my other close friends yet because I'm waiting until I know for sure I've been approved. I'm hoping they will b supportive, I'm the "big" jolly girl in the group, they have all only known me at my current size. I plan on bringing pictures of my old self so they will understand why I'm doing what I'm doing and be able to see what I looked like before they met me. My husband and I plan on telling my inlaws too as soon as I'm approved. My mother in law is a big worrier and I'm already struggling with this decision, I don't need her stressing herself and the rest of us out before hand...there will be enough of that when the time comes! LOL I will of course have to tell my boss and I know once I do it won't be a secret for long... Ugh! But there is another lady I work with that went thru this in Feb (she had the bypass and is what got me motivated to do it myself) and she tells people if they ask, which is how I found out... Soooo I guess in the grand scheme of things if more people find out than I want to, but it ultimately helps someone else I guess it can't be too bad? I'm just not wanting to advertise it tho! I pray this helps you with your family plans my boys are the greatest thing (besides my hubby ) that has ever happened to me! I want to be around a long time for them and be able to do more stuff with them. You have been in my prayers as your preparing for all this. I'm excited for you! And I'm glad to have found someone to talk to and go thru all of this with! My last apt with them is Aug 23rd and then they submit to insurance. Don't know how long it takes to get approved and scheduled from there. Hopefully not too long!
