  1. It's Day 11 on the liquid diet for me. It's not been bad at all. On Saturday nights, my family traditionally goes out to eat. Last Saturday, we did Chinese because my husband was performing a Lion Dance with his Kung Fu studio at the restaurant. I had my SlimFast and wonton broth. I wasn't bothered at all by all the food others were eating. Tonight the plan is Vietnamese so I'll have pho broth. I'm the cook in the family, too. It's been a little weird not to taste for seasoning adjustments, but I've been sticking to tried and true recipes and no one has complained. :-) Molly
  2. They have for me. No Fiber to move things along, if you get my drift. :-)
  3. Note to those about to start the liquid diet: add Benefiber to your shakes and other liquids. Molly (10/2)
  4. I read somewhere ( book, class materials or online) that seafood is one of the best choices when dining out post op.
  5. No specific weight given. At a support group meeting, the Nut said that they don't focus on specific weight goals, but rather quality of life goals like less meds, co-morbidities, etc.
  6. This time next week I'll be on the losers' bench. I'm so excited! Molly 10/2
  7. My personal favorite decaf tea is Celestial Seasonings Bengal Spice. It gets sweeter the longer it is steeped.
  8. My bariatric pantry sells sample packs of syntax protein powder and single bottles of Isopure. It was fairly quick shipping, too.
  9. Oct 2nd for me, too! I've been preparing since Jan. So excited, but now only a week away I've been too busy trying to get all my ducks in a row at work and at home. Molly
  10. Another thing that has helped me is to have something to drink all the time. Mind you, I'm on an all-liquid diet (no meat or greens for me), but in between my shakes, I have tea or Water. At night I have a little broth, too. I haven't felt hungry yet (on day 6 of pre-op diet). I also keep myself very busy. Believe it or not, I've actually almost forgotten a shake several times over the last week.
  11. What if you had your meat and green for lunch (assuming it is eaten now at dinner)?
  12. Isopure is more like Gatorade than a creamy shake.
  13. Yes it is almost all I think or talk about. I think my close co-workers (those I've told) will be thrilled when I go on leave next Tuesday just to get a break from hearing about it. Actually, they've been really supportive and ask me for the details. I've been trying to finish up some projects, cross the t's, dot the i's, etc. One fun pastime I've been doing the last couple of weekends is thrift store shopping for smaller clothes. I think I have a leather fetish- I've bought 2 leather coats and two suede jackets in smaller sizes. I just can't pass up $8 leather! Last Saturday night , my husband was performing a lion dance at a local restaurant, so I went with family and friends to eat (I had wonton broth and decaf tea) and watch the performance. It was such a fun time and I wasn't the least bit tempted by the food others were eating. :-) Molly (10/2)
  14. Hey October Gals and Guys, Let's try to make a running list of our dates. Reply and add your username and date. MadisonMolly 10/2/13
  15. Welcome to October! Will someone else be able to help you?
  16. My experience with the psych evaluation was similar to DL's. Go for it! Don't loose hope.
  17. As I've read in many posts, it's always best to follow your clinic/Nut/surgeon's plan. In my plan,I have the choice between 5 SF Carnation instant breakfasts per day or 3 Slim-fasts (the 3-2- 1) and two Protein drinks per day for the two week pre-surgery diet. I have the supplies for both, but have only tried Slim-fast days so far.
  18. I hope I'm not jinxing myself but so far, day 2, of the liquid diet isn't too bad. I've been drinking Slim Fast drinks for my meals and Protein drinks for Snacks. I'm using SF Torani syrups to add a variety of flavors. I have quite a sweet tooth, but all these sweet, creamy drinks may get tiresome even for me. Thankfully, some samples from My Bariatric Pantry arrived today, so I'll have even more variety. Good news is that I haven't felt hungry, yet. Just a little sloshy from all the liquid. Molly
  19. Day 1 of my 2 week liquid diet. So many choices, shall today be a Slimfast or Carnation Instant Breakfast day?
  20. Just a quick tip for anyone who misses sweetened tea: try Celestial Seasonings Bengal Spice tea. No caffeine or sugar but a sweet taste that gets sweeter the longer you steep it.
