    August Sleevers

Well I'm 7 days post-op and 18lbs lighter & 100% pain free. Still on All liquid diet at least until follow-up w/surgeon next Friday. I couldn't be more pleased. My saving grace is walking and 2 15 minute steam room sittings each day. I'm sure its accelerated my healing process. No pain meds since my 3rd day post-op and no gas at all. One other thing is that I have not deviated from my doc's instructions at all. He has the MD behind his name so I left the judgement calls to the pro! Dr. George Woodman of Midsouth Bariatrics

    Question for the fellas

Fiddleman is very much inaccurate! The sole purpose of WLS is to greatly reduce ones caloric intake by reducing the amount and types of foods you eat. 2000cals per day is almost twice the amount indicated for a Physician Prescribed Cardio Diet of 1200cals per day. With a 3-4oz capacity stomach post-op, it is absolutely ridiculous to assume that one could consume 2000 calories per day. Think about it! You will be larger and or heavier as you were before undergoing WLS. I suugest that you ignore these quack type nutritional recommendations, and consult your physician and nutritionist! You made the life altering decision to have WLS do I'd advise you to get important info such as this from someone with MD behind their name. This isn't meant to be that type of forum!!!!!

    Checked in @ Hospital!

Hello everyone! Surgery was smooth and I was completely gas free post op. My surgeon is Great! (GEORGE WOODMAN-Midsouth Bariatrics). I was completely off my pain meds on my 3rd day post op. now for the motivating news: 7 days out and 21Lbs lighter. Unbelievable! I've been walking 40 min twice daily and sitting in my steam shower following each walk as well. I'm still on liquids until next Friday, when I transition to puréed. So far so good. Thanks for everyone's prayers and well wishes on surgery day. Everybody keep up your good work, and stick in there!!!!

    Question for the fellas

The standard is about 500-675 p/day once you're back on solid foods. 1000 is extremely high post-op. I don't foresee much weight loss success with such a high caloric intake, male or fale. Was that indicated by your doc?

    July 2013 Sleevers

Wow! Those are extraordinary quantities. 90% + all sleevers are 64oz daily Water intake and 42g-80g daily protein. Are you sure of your post op instructions?

    14 Days Post Op

Hi everyone- It's a bit early, but I was Sleeved on 8/7, and I'm 16.6lbs weight lost since surgery. I'm pretty much pain free and I haven't taken pain meds since 3rd day post-op. Walking 40 min a day and steam room twice a day.

    Tired!

The only that will subside is through exercise! Walk at least 40 min a day. You must stay active and fight through the fatigue. Good luck..
  9. Applesauce? Not a good idea just 5 days out. That's a stage II food and can slow your healing process. I too was sleeved on 8/7, but the pain has been manageable as long as I walk at least 4 times a day for about 10 min each trip. I feel much better each morning, but I would definitely NOT use Stage II foods to curb your hunger pains. They will subside. Just stick with it!! Good luck.

    Very bad food mistKe!

Sorry for the typo above: Mistake Mother knows best? I think not...Short and to the point, my Mom made me a container of fresh homemade crab Soup. She strained it 3 times to ensure it was pure soup. She even used skim milk as a base. Didn't matter. As my 14 yr old daughter said: OMG!!! Camped out in bathroom for about 2.5 hours....Laghing at myself the whole time.

    Very bad food mistKe!

  12. Well, I'm 4 days post op and all is remarkably well. My surgeon did and outstanding job minimizing gas, and other than expected soreness, I've been okay. Sporadic stomach cramping whenever I drink anything other than water, but the pain is manageable.Ive been walking about 10 minutes 3 times daily, and that has been the key to my inproved strength and tolerance of pain. So far so good! I won't do my first post op weigh in until Saturday Morning, 08/17. See ya then......
  13. 3 more days until I start the brand new me! Anyone else coming up this month?
  14. Well, I just had my final pre-op weigh-in and all is well! Surgery is Tomorrow 8 AM. I'll post an update post-op Wed. My prayers to everyone else with upcoming procedures!
  15. 3 more days until I start the new me!!! I'll post an update post-op Wed. Anyone else this week?
  16. Question: when everyone says weight loss from pre op, are you referencing the date that you began your pre op liquid diet?

    Finally!

Well, Wednesday is my Surgical consul with Dr. Woodman. I'll receive my pre-op & post-op dietary education, as well as my surgery date. I'm so psyched to have the surgery, I'm like a 10 year old anxiously awaiting my birthday. Pretty symbollic when you think about it; The surgery being the rebirth of the "new me!" I've purchased baby food, broth, whey protein, and other post op items to kick off my journey towards 200 lbs. After losing more than 50 lbs before approval, my prescription meds and inability to cope with my osteoarthritis pain and a very painful hernia has triggered a gradual weight gain since April. Excercise restrictions are so frustrating!!!! I plan on working my ass off post-op!
