  1. I have pretty much done the same thing. I wanted to 'keep out the noise' while I was making my decision and doing all the research. However, I have found that as I get closer to surgery I have started to tell select people. Their reaction has been nothing but supportive. It's been helpful for me. But go with your gut instinct on this.
  2. I was on a plane earlier this month and had to use a seatbelt extender for the first time. Thankful the flight attendant was super discreet and had it in her pocket already. I get sleeved in the next couple weeks. It just reaffirmed my decision. We are on the right path!
  3. As long as I am either loosing weight or inches I will be happy! Thanks for the encouragement. There is so much I am looking forward to!
  4. Nope. I was simply making a point.
  5. Besides the one obnoxious comment, I don't see how anyone was being anything but supportive Molly3.
  6. Way to go! Can't wait to join you in my weight loss goals.
  7. Way to go! You look great! Love the necklace too :-)
  8. Getting ready for surgery in the next few weeks. But I will commit to continuing working out three days a week with my personal trainer until surgery. And then I commit to working out consistently once my docs clears me. Slowly but surely I will get back to running!
  9. Has discussing your weight been an issue in the past that maybe led to agreements? Just another possible perspective. It might be why he doesn't feel safe talking about it now, even if its positive. Way to go on the 50 pounds loss!
  10. Just goes to show the hard work pays off! Congrats and way to go!
  11. Congrats! I start my pre-op diet on Wednesday! Getting excited!
  12. I had surgery last year, not WLS, and had an irregular period afterwards. I have never been on birth control. But started taking a pill ten days before my period was suppose to start. It helped regulate my period again. Worked with my GYN to figure out what worked best for me.
  13. Didn't think I would find this kind of conversation when I clicked on this thread....lol.
  14. Okay, that is what I thought it was but I wanted to make sure. I had my gallbladder removed last year and had none of the gas discomfort. I am hoping for something similar with this surgery.
  15. I have been reading on here that a lot of people have gas pain immediately after surgery and take gas-x or something similar to relieve the symptoms. So here is the question I have. What kind of gas pain are you referring to? The pain from the surgeon putting gas in your belly to expand it or something else?
  16. I was told by my doctor that the carbonation in sodas stretches your stomach, thus reversing the effectiveness of the sleeve. Not something I am willing to risk.
  17. I guess the part that confused me was they gave me a bunch of protein shake receipts with my diet plan. Uummm
  18. The instructions I was given from my doc weren't really clear. I was suppose to start my pre-op diet on Sunday. I will do it without until Tuesday when I can reach my doc offic.
  19. Quick question. My doc has me doing a two week pre-op diet that partly requires protein shakes. For those in a similar situation were you allowed to mix fruits and yogurts in your pre-op protein shakes, or was that reserved for post-op? I am just a little confused.
  20. They did suggest I start it after my final appointment only because I am on a time crunch to get it done. Most of the time they don't recommend starting it until you have been approved for surgery and they set your surgical date around that.
