  1. How did the office contact you after the seminar? I went to the seminar on Tuesday and it's driving me crazy just waiting to hear from their office. Did they call, email, or mail you something? How long did it take to hear from them after the seminar?
  2. Has anyone used a hiatal hernia to have insurance pay for part of surgery? My insurance has an exclusion for all WLS and I've heard that 95% of people have a hiatal hernia. I have reflux and wondering if I possibly have a hernia and can get my insurance to pay for some of surgery. I'm prepared to fully pay for surgery if it doesn't but just curious if anyone has used this to get some of surgery paid for.
  3. What did you think of Victory Medical Center?
  4. I'm in Wylie and going to Dr. Nicholson's seminar on Tuesday. I don't think I've ever been so excited to meet a doctor!!
  5. Happy I came across this thread. I am going to his seminar on Tuesday. It's looking like I'm going to be self pay which kinda sucks but I think it will be money well spent! Did any of y'all do self pay? If so, how quick was the process from consult to surgery? Did you pick where you had surgery? Does Dr. Nick use drains? That's the first I've heard of not doing the leak test the day after. I bet that makes the day of surgery so much easier when you can drink afterwards!!
  6. I'm hoping to be August. I'm looking at the week of the 19th. I meet my surgeon this Tuesday.
  7. I just came across a website that provides insurance for complications of bariatric surgery or plastic surgery. I'm going to be self pay and from my understanding my medical insurance will not cover complications since they exclude any weight loss surgery from my plan. Has anyone used this type of insurance? I can afford the surgery but I'm nervous about the cost of possibly having a complication. Thoughts?
  8. I hope your ablation went ok. I had a d&c and ablation done at the same time. I'm in the small percentage of women that still has a period and just as heavy as it was before.
  9. Lands End swim suits have been the only suits i've found that holds everything where they should be. Well worth their money!
  10. I can't wait to be able to shop in forever 21 again. Lol hope I'm not too old for them now. I used to shop there in college before my weight issues 10+ years ago.
  11. I'm in the Dallas area and have a consult/seminar on July 9th with Dr. Nicholson.
  12. This probably sounds like such s silly question but what is the drain tube used for? How long do you have it? Is it painful? Is it gross? Does it get in the way of anything? I'm basically completely clueless.
  13. As of right now only my husband, my mom and best friend know. I haven't decided how I'm going to handle questions from others nor decided how to handle my inlaws. I know they will be so against it. And the majority of my friends are health/fitness fanatics and personal trainers so I know they won't understand.
  14. I'm just starting this journey. I have my first consult on July 9th. I'm 5' 0" and 197 lbs. I've thought about surgery for a while but really started getting serious after my pcp recommended it. It's looking like I'm going the self pay route which doesn't excite me but I know I won't regret it. Happy I've found this site and others to chat with...lord knows my husband is tired of hearing me talk about it right now lol.
