  1. My port has flipped yet again Ive only been banded for a year! and this will be my second op ! It was redone only 12 weeks ago Im so p***ed off but what can I do!!! Off I go again
  2. Mine is the tubing I have had my port redone again and was hoping that I would not feel it but low and behold right where the large scar is there is the tubing popping out it it yuck and large and very noticable and everyone cn feel it not just me!! My doctor says its normal but Im going to get a second opinion ..... Beena
  3. I have had an interesting journey but you can hear all about it at www.beenabeena.blogspot.com I am nearly at 1 year banded and am down a fair bit of weight. It is really nice to be in smaller sizes and not have to shop at the bigger girls stores anymore. That I would have to say has been the highlight. I do have really yucky legs and breasts from the skin that once was filled with fat. i had every intention of getting this all fixed until I recently went in for a restitch of a flipped port and the gallbladder was taken out at the same time. I have been getting spasms once a month since the band that radiate through the chest and my back and have had a heap of tests!!! We are just putting it down to oesophegal spasms irritated by the band and my menstral cycle! I have came to a stand still with the weight loss but its my own doing I have became addicted to chocolate lately (It think I have picked up another addiction due to the band) they say that this can happen as food has always been my addiction... I have also hurt my ankle so my usual walking each day has not been happening! The band does not tell you not to eat chocolate so BEWARE!!! LOL!! but im not complaining!!! I am happy with my progress and have always planned to do this over 2 years! 1 down another 1 to go to get to my goal of 75kg!!! 145lbs (i think)!! anyway take care have a read @ www.beenabeena.blogspot.com Cheers Beena:thumbup:

  5. I could actually see my tubing poping out from under the skin and had to poke it back in! (it turned out the port had flipped) and I have had it redone 4 weeks ago! Now I can feel a large lump where the large incision is and can very much feel the port (anyone who touches it can)
  6. For me! I get these once a month on the day my period is due no matter what I eat or drink, yogurt has caused it for me before!! its only been since the band that I have ever experienced such a horrid pain! I have had every single test everything from xrays to ultrasounds to bloods! they even found gallstones and took my gallbladder out 5 weeks ago (low and behold I copped the pain again after the op!!!!) We are putting it down to Esophageal spasms! My doctor told me that everything swells up at this time and this could be causing the pain! (it starts faint accross the chest and then the back and can last from 15min to 48 hours (for me anyway) I burp alot and cant move!!! I have lost 40kg (80lbs) with the band in 12 months and have been banded for nearly a year had my port restitched cos it flipped recently! I know exactly what you are saying it is soooooo bad and can put me out for a few days! ( i copped it on my birthday and It buggered up my night out! ) and the doctors just seem to look at you like you are crazy!!Yesterday i got my bloods back and my magnessium was low which I was told by the doctor (the 3rd one Ive tried) that this can cause spasms as well so it is worth getting this checked! Im now on magnessium tablets and have yet to try the (blood pressure tablets which can be also used to control spasms)! Im waiting for one to come on to try the last resort and see f they work! My blood pressure is nomal but they apparently work by slowing the spasm down (im not a doctor but i have been begging for an answer!! i hope they work! good luck you are certainly not alon on this and I think a lot more testing with banded patients need to be done on the few of us that seem to get these rotten side effects!!! In saying al this I know in my heart that I would never of been able to loose this much weight on my own and I am still greatful for the band! Take care!:juggle::lol:
  7. I have now been banded for 3months and with pre op diet i have lost a total of about 27kg (60lbs) It has been a hard journey from drinking Optifast for 1 month to having the operation and being in pain for 3 weeks but I sit here and feel fantastic. Im nearly half way to my goal weight and people are really strating to notice the change in my body. I can now start to fit into clothes at "main stream shops" and dont have to find the big girl stores. I cant wait until i can give up my email subscriptions to the fat stores. The lapband is changing my life making me into something that i cant remember ever being. Im more mature to deal with the mind side of the band so Im glad that I have done it now. im still young enough to enjoy my new and improved body LOL! There have been moments of sheer pain where I have eaten something that didnt agree with the band but we are new to eachother and I will eventually figure it out. It was such a hard decision to make at first What will it feel like?, will I miss certain foods? amI doing the right thing? I have suprised myself. I dont miss certain foods like i thought I would and there seems to always be a way around it. Iam 27kg (60lbs) lighter and as long as the scales keep going down and as long as things keep going down the right path Ive made the right choice for me. I can still eat most things (bad and good) but just little tiny plate size full and pre band i use to think "but how" am I not gong to go for the second helping... But the band wont let you it says "you are full" its great.:thumbup:THUMBS UP SO FAR

  10. Hi everyone after chatting to you all on here for 3 years i finally have been banded. It took me a while to take the step but im very glad I did. Just wondering if anyone had heart burn/intergestion. Im only 4 weeks out and its only at dinner time (about 2 hours later). I get my first fill in 2 weeks so Im hoping that it does not get worse. Other then that i love te band so far. My life has begun and Im feeling great. The first 2 weeks I was tired and sore i never thought id get there but here I am. Anyway feedback would be nice. BEENA:thumbup:
  11. I hear you I flaked out for about 4 days on the couch no energy and just wanted to sleep. The pain was bad and Im only 1 week out and im still really sore went and saw the doc and he said not to worry... I will be back next week if Im still feeling like this.. It bloody does hurt, ive had 2 c sections with an internal infection and I would have to say this was harder then them ...for me anyway.. Im sure one it settles i can move on and start losing more weight ( lost 16.5kg 36lbs) with both pre op and surgery.
  12. You have a different pre op diet then me Im on Optifast (3 shakes a day and 2 cups of veggies) it sux!!! but ive lost 9lbs in about 14 days I guess cos im not really eating anything else. and doing the gym. I decided the other day to have a grilled fish and the very next day put on 2lbs!!! I was like WHAT!!!! what more can i do, I am pretty much starving myself... Im just trying not to think about it. Good luck!!! We are all here for you Big hugs.... ( and some virtual cheese and crackers for you) LOL....

Today I was watching our local news and a report came up about how there had been 7 deaths in Victoria regarding the band! Of course within 1 minute my mum called me in a total state of panic! I was so sure I was going to do this and still am but that still plays in your mind! I figure that I m going to die anyway with this extra weight sooner then i planned so i need to take the small risk and do this because in 28 years so far nothing has worked....I have heard great stories from other Ausssie bansters and seen fantastic results and I wanna be in there shoes to!:tt2: Well this is now me a year later and I am happy to say Im banded and have been for near 12 months next week!!! I have recorded my journey on www.beenabeena.blogspot.com Im down near 40kg (80lbs I think my metric terms may be out abit). Ive got another 20 to go and plan on getting it off in the next 12 months!

There are days where I hesitate to even think about getting the band and there are others where i am excited for the unknown!! I have managed to make a few calls today with the dietition and the physicion that the surgeon reccomended for me (man I cant spell today) Im not thinking straight!!!Anyway you get the drift! Either way I really know in my heart that something needs to be done about my huge weight problem that has been haunting me forever! I remember the days when I was 100kg (about 220lbs) and now I wish i was back there instead of being 131kg (288lbs) If i can manage to get off 132lbs (60kg) which is a huge ask I will be happy. That will bring me down to 70kg which is (154lbs) That for my height is still big but It would be true bliss. I have yet to meet a banster that has lost this amount of weight anyone out there with this success your motivation will be appreciated!

  24. Hello all , congratulations to you all for either making a decision or just even trying to do something about it! As for me i have made 3 appointments and cancelled them because im scared of the unknown! You will be happy to know i have finally woke up to myself and have got an appointment on feb 18th which i have every intention of attending! For all you who are banded what should i ask the Doctor that you feel you should of asked but never did! and now know from getting the band? Iam scared because I dont want to fail like all the other diets ive tried and and I know "its a tool", I know I have to work with it and i know its a life style change and I know i need to make the effort! but lets face it im not this big because I want to be!!! What has made this different from everything else you guys have tried? My main motivation is Im 28 and will soon be 29 and then 30! and thats where I draw the line !!! Ive gone through childhood, my teens and my 20s and no no no !!! Its not gonna happen Well If I Can help it ...not my 30s!! So thank you for your support over the last 6 months its been a decision in progress which i believe i have finally made! So any suggestions on qusetions to ask the Doctor and the comparison to other things tried feel free!!! CHEERS Beena:rolleyes2::rolleyes2::eek::rolleyes2:
  25. Well where do i start im a young mum ( or mom for everyone else) Never have time for myself and have always been big!!! I spend the first half of the year dieting and the second part putting it all back on!!! cant be good!! I figured i will soon be 30(next year) and well Im just not prepared to spend my 30s this big! I have a good 150lbs which is about 60kg to loose and I have every intention of doing it. I have made and cancelled 3 appointments because it is such a dastic step for me but its something that needs to be done and a I know in my heart that it will be the right thing to do! Im worried that I will fail! just like all the other diets ive ever been on but this is a lifestyle change and just a tool I need to get my head around it all! I have an appointment that im actually looking forward to on the 18th feb08 and if any bandsters out there have any suggestions on what to ask on your first visit that would be really great. Well wishing you all the very best of luck on your journeys well done for doing what is right for you! And to " banded and feeling great " well done mate all the best to you as well Cheers:cool2:
