    Where are the Maryland Bandsters?

Hi everyone! I hope you don't mind if I jump in here. I haven't been banded yet, but I'm hoping to have my surgery early next year. I have my consultation scheduled with Dr. Singh for January 17 and I've been following the 6 month diet my insurance company requires. I have to do the diet until February and then my insurance should be a go. I'd love to connect with some locals to help me with this new journey!

    Hi everyone!

I'm new here. I've researched the surgery for a while, but I've finally reached the point that I'm ready to go through with it. I go to a seminar with Dr. Averbach and Dr. Singh at St. Agnes Hospital on Wednesday, but I'm more interested in Dr. Schweitzer at Hopkins. I'm 27, live in Baltimore, and have been married for almost 2 years. No kids yet, which is actually my biggest motivator for doing the surgery. I'm really excited and hope to meet some local people who are going through the same things I'll be going through. Hope to talk to you all soon!
  3. I went to a seminar with Dr. Averbach last night. I'm going with his practice at St. Agnes, so either he or Dr. Singh will be doing my surgery. I just called the insurance company (BCBS State of MD) and I just have to do the documented diet and a psych eval for approval. So, now I need to see if I can come up with my Weight Watchers booklets or receipts or if I have to do the six month diet.
  4. Hi everyone. I hope you don't mind if I jump in here. I went to a surgical seminar last night and I just left a message with the dietician that my the surgeon I'm using recommended to set up and appointment for my six month supervised diet. Once I complete the diet and get my psych evaluation, then the insurance company will approve me. So, I'm looking at early 2008 for my banding. I was hoping I wouldn't have to do the six month diet so that I could get banded sooner, but c'est la vie. I'll do what I need to do. I have a long way to go and I hope to "meet" you guys soon.
  5. I am so glad that I found this thread! I'm nowhere near surgery yet, my consultation is July 10, but my insurance covers the surgery right off the bat, so it's just a matter of getting with the Dr. at the point. I'm 27, 5'7, I'm guessing around the 350 lbs mark, give or take, with a BMI of 54. I'm so glad to see that I'm not the only one that has to lose the weight of an overweight to obese person! I've literally been fat my entire life. I can remember being weighed in kindergarten and weighing 75 lbs, so I can honestly say that I've always been overweight. I lost over 100 lbs a few years back doing Weight Watchers and got down to bout 215. I felt awesome at that size and looked great. But, after a bad car accident, I gained it all back, PLUS an additional 25 lbs. So, here I am! At this point, I would love to weight under 200 lbs. I'll have one heck of a party the day I weigh 199 lbs! At 5'7 and a large frame, I'm "supposed" to weigh between 120-155 lbs. I'd be ecstatic to get to 180. Anyway, I've been long-winded enough. I just wanted to jump into the group now that I feel that I belong somewhere. I am so excited to start this next chapter of my life and I'm glad that I found this place.
  6. Hi everyone! I've been tossing around the idea of WLS for quite a while now and I'm finally to the point that I'm ready to do it. I'm scheduled to attend a seminar with a surgeon on Wednesday. My new insurance kicks in on July 1st, so I can schedule anything until then, but I've only got a couple weeks to go. My name is Brandi, I'm 27 and I live in Baltimore. I've been married for a little under 2 years. One of my biggest motivators for doing this is so that I can have a baby in a few years. I'm pretty new to all of this, but I have done quite a bit of research. Forgive me if I ask too many questions.I look forward to meeting all of you!
