  4. Youtube is a great another great resource and support for pre op and post op VSG'ers. I subscribe to many different people and follow their weight loss journey which is how I found out about this VSG forum. I haven't posted any videos because I feel a little self conscience but maybe at the end of my journey, I will be able to post before and after pics. I started this VSG journey in January 2013.
  5. I was informed (CT Hartford Hospital Weightloss Center) that my surgeon will not perform the surgery on any smokers. A smoker must be smoke free for at least 3 months and guarantee they will not go back to smoking because of the risk of developing ulcers. Also, the surgeon will refer any smoker to a program if they need assistance with the cigarette addiction.
  6. I don't know if I am considered a lightweigh but I have struggled with keeping my weight down. It always come back. I started looking into weightloss surgery last year but didn't have the committment level as of yet. Last summer, I lost a few pound putting my BMI at 33. I had went to a Bariatric presentation back in January 2013 when I lost my job. Subsequently, I had a consult and was told I may qualify for a Lap band with co morbidities. Just know since January 2013 and being unemployed, I gained 17 pounds and I see the nutrionist every month. I went from eating once a day to 3x a day as recommended, I eat healthy and I cook every day instead of buying take out. hmmmmm, Now my BMI is 35 and when I saw the surgeon after most of my tests and visits have been done, he recommended that I get the sleeve now. I am little excited about it and can't wait to get a date. I have one more nutrionist visit (per my insurance, I have to have 6 months of nutrionist visits).
  7. My insurance requires 6 months of nutrional visit.
  8. I do not have a surgery date yet, I have 1 more nutrional visit (July 2013) and once all the paperwork is submitted, I will get a date. I was told is should not take long to hear back from my insurance. I am hoping I get a date for September 2013. I would lve to keep in touch and follow your progress. Will you post your progress on youtube?
  9. I am 190lbs, 5'2" and I'm getting sleeved.
