  1. I Will be sleeved on February 17 with dr. Ariel Ortiz at the OCC.
  2. Hi Alex, can u please add 2014 to the monthly sleeve forum?
  3. I don't think it's weird. I feel the same way, I'm scheduled for 2/17/14. I think because I've done so much research and read about all of the experiences of everyone on here, I feel prepared as to what to expect. I'm just wishing February would hurry on up and get here I've started preparing myself now with little things- such as making sure I take my vitamins everyday, drinking my water, and I drink a protein smoothie everyday for breakfast.
  4. Found this article and found it interesting and powerful. Thoughts? http://www.dailylife.com.au/life-and-love/parenting-and-families/when-your-mother-says-shes-fat-20130604-2nnxq.html
  5. I might be traveling alone and I asked the OCC what people do with their stuff when patients don't have someone with then. This is what she told me: You will be in a private hospital room behind locked doors to the hospital area. It is only our staff that would have access to this area. You can also give your purse to our hospital administrator, Erika, to lock up for you while you are in surgery.
  6. Nope because I knew who those people would be and I decided no to tell them I'm having the surgery done...I've only told people that I know are going to be positive and supportive.
  7. It's funny, I dealt with the same thing from my grandfather on my moms side. I only saw him twice a year on thanksgiving and Christmas and because I was the only fat one, he ALWAYS made comments to me and it always ended in me leaving the table and crying. He would say in front of people "are you sure you want to have that piece of pumpkin pie?" Or at Christmas "Rachel, what's that, like your 3rd cookie?" So not only was it hard for me to be there, but also my mom never defended me! I would just look at her and she would shrug and when I would go away upset she would later say to me "you know Rachel he's an old man this may be his last holiday, etc. really?" That's not an excuse to talk to someone like that and make them feel so terrible about themselves especially on the holidays! Well when my grandfather passed away last September it was very hard for me to be upset. I mean, I am upset because it's sad when people passed away and I felt bad for my mom losing her father but for me he only ever brought negativity and pain in my life and made me feel horrible about myself! It really is sad when you treat people like that!
  8. We sign a contract saying we won't share the cost of our surgery but I can tell you if you email them they contact you pretty quickly with the cost

  10. So, last night I went to a hockey game with my brother. I went to sit in the seat and my goodness my lower half is big! As I was squeezing my rear into the seat, someone said did you see that? That was an awesome shot! The guy behind me said "It would've been nice to see it..." and he and his buddies laughed and fist bumped. Things I won't miss about being fat: people making such nasty comments about me. I know there will always be mean, negative people....but the fact that people are so open in being nasty to people who are overweight, it's just frustrating.
  11. Thanks so much for the feedback, I appreciate it!
  12. That sounds delicious! Thanks for the suggestions!
  13. Phew, that makes me feel better! I am planning on staying a few extra days in California after my surgery to sightsee and relax so i will have my camera with me and extra money too and just wanted to make sure it will be safe Also, how did u feel a few days after surgery? In pain and u just wanted to rest? Or were u ok moving around? Were you able to drive?
