How Do You Make Your Protein Shakes?

Recommended Posts

Do you just mix the Protein and milk? Or do you blend it with ice, fruit, Peanut Butter, etc?

Like when I am in my pre op liquid only phase and post op liquid only, can I add peanut butter and ice with my shake? Or am I supposed to do only the powder and milk? If I add a banana to it, does that count now as a soft food, even though it's blended in to the thickness of a milkshake?

Sorry if these questions are silly :)

I didn't have a liquid only preop diet, and my doc doesn't require Protein shakes postop (they're allowed, just not required). I started making them during my 2 weeks of full liquids, but didn't want to add banana or something like that, since I wasn't allowed those on fulls. Instead of Peanut Butter I bought some PB2, which is powdered Peanut Butter. Much lower in fat than regular PB, too. I would mix that with skim milk & chocolate Protein Powder. My favorite combo (& the one I still have almost every day for breakfast) is an espresso shake. I dissolve about a tbsp of instant espresso powder in a bit of warm Water in my Blender Bottle, add about 1/2 cup of nonfat plain Greek yogurt, 1 scoop of either chocolate or vanilla Protein Powder, and about a cup of skim milk.

That sounds delicious! Thanks for the suggestions!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
