Lapband post op. vs Gallbladder removal post op
It was the same as Banding for me. The Dr. said to let the bandages fall off by themself. Surgeon said to eat low fat foods for a week. I could take a shower that same day.

Self fills.
OMG!! Your Dr. gave you needles for you to do un-fills yourself??? I have never heard of this. I would NEVER go near my own port with a needle. I might miss and poke a hole in the tube. Sounds very scarry to me!

How long did you keep your bandaids/steristrips on after surgery?
Hi Cristy, My surgeon told me to let them come off by themselfs. I don't remember how long it took but after my recent gallbladder surgery they fell off about 1 week after surgery. Good Luck

Gallbladder Removal
{{That's good to know. How long was your recovery time? The doc said I could go back to work Wed. and my surgery is on Saturday. I teach elementary school...and have gotten varied opinions on this.}} Malice, I am a pre-school teacher of 30 three yr olds. I was fine going back to work 4 days after surgery. I just told the children that I had a sore belly and to be careful when they give me a hug and that I couldn't pick them up for a while. They were very good little ones.(for once!)

Gallbladder Removal
I had mine out 9/15 and the only change I have is that I feel 100% better. Not sick anymore no more side or back pain!!! I am back to feeling like I did before GB started acting up! Surgery was SOOOOO MUCH EASIER than band surgery!!Back to work in only a couple of days! Never took any pain pills. Never needed them! I do have a little infection in my belly button incision. But I am on antibiotics so all good! Good luck!

Question for those who've had their gallbladder removed
I just had my GB out Friday and I returned to work (Preschool teacher) today. I was very tired when I got home but no pain. I thought that after a little rest I could go do some food shopping, Well I was wrong!!! Half way through Wal-Mart I was crying like a baby because I was so tired. People were asking me if I was ok and I would just cry out Yeeesss Ok bad decision. Just take it easy after surgery and you should be fine! Tomorrow it's nothing but work then home to rest!! Good luck

Home from GB surgrey.
Hi everyone, Thank you for your prayers and well wishes!!! I had surgery at 7:30am Friday 15th. Surgery took 1 1/2 hours and then I was in recovery for another 1 1/2 hours. I guess I got kind of angry when I was waking up because I am told that I pulled out my IV'S.:omg: I remember thinking that I couldn't breath and then they were giving me a breathing treatment. One nurse told me that the anesthesia caused my Asthma to act up. What? I don't have asthma. They figured it out and just had to calm me down. Oh well I can now breath just fine. LOL I was put in the short stay wing of the hospital and was well taken care of. I needed NO pain pills at all. They kept asking "are you sure?" Nope I don't need them!! I was up walking (with walker) within 1 hour.My nurse said I was the BOMB!! LOL BUT again just like my last surgery I COULDN'T PEE!! Had to get a straight cath to empty my bladder. Then after that I started peeing on my own.:clap2: The same surgeon that put in my band did this surgery also. He said that my GB looked angry:angry and that while he was in there he went up and took a look at my band and everything there looks great. I can get a refill on the 26th when I see him for my post-op appt. I left the hospital the next day (Saturday) at about 2;30pm. I stayed that late only because they wanted to give me my last round of antibiotics before I left. The trip home was a little hard and I was wishing for some of the pain pills I turned down. Today I am fine with very little pain. I could go back to work tomorrow BUT I'm NOT! I am going to take another me day!!! Well again Thanks.

Newbie From Arizona
Hi Samantha, Welcome to LBT from another Arizona gal! Where in AZ are you from? I live near Show Low. My decision to get the band was the BEST decission I ever ever ever made!!!! Like Sallyjo said, You can expect wonderful things from the band If you work with your band. It has been so easy at times and then it has been soooooooooo hard at times. But all worth it in the end!! I still have about 50lbs to lose. But with the band I know it is Possible!!! Good luck to you!
