    Protein shakes

Isopure and Unjury are good sources of protein...they are both whey protein isolate and have a lot of protein with few carbs and the taste isn't half bad either.
  3. Wow that was such an awesome story! Thanks for sharing it and kudos to you for achieving your goals!
  4. I'm nine days post-op and I can tell you that it WILL get better! Hang in there! I'd do what everybody else has already stated on here...great advice!
  5. For all those considering the surgery, I'm going to give an honest assessment of my experience thus far... Immediately after surgery: ugh the gas bloat and pain was pretty bad. The gas didn't hurt my left shoulder like most have experienced...it was killing my back! Lol. I got up and walking as soon as I could and walked on the hour, every hour that I was awake. Day 1 post op: left hospital and survived a four hour drive home...lol. Gas pain was still pretty bad...that's truly the worst thing I can say about the pain so far---that gas pain is no joke! LOL Day 2 post op: Gas is def better, but still a lot of discomfort...was able to sip 1 oz at a time, every 20 mins.....hoping to avoid dehydration. Belly is sore like I've done 200+ sit-ups, but ice packs have helped and I'll continue to use them. Regrets? None so far....looking forward to this interesting journey....and my spouse is even considering having it done. I had mentally prepared myself for the life change: I won't miss the buffets, or eating loads more than I should. I do look forward to eating food again so that I can have dinner with friends. But it will never be like it was before. My advice? If you don't want to drastically change your life, don't have the surgery. You have to approach this with the mindset that you will change forever. The pain? Temporary. The liquids? Temporary. Not eating with friends? Temporary. Not organizing life around food? Permanent. Not gorging on food anymore at a buffet? Permanent. I wanted a permanent divorce from food controlling my life...I want to eat to live, not live to eat. Please think long and do some soul searching before you have the surgery. As for me, I've no regrets and look forward to my new paradigm. :-)
  6. So glad to hear that you guys are doing well! Day 3 post op: the gas is almost gone and no gas pain today so far! Yay! Lol. And my throat no longer is sore...not sure if it was the hernia they fixed or if they had to jam the breathing tube down hard, but my throat had been sore until today...so I think today is shaping up to be a good day! :-)
  7. I don't think it's too drastic....especially when my previous way of thinking about food was slowly killing me. Lol
  8. I'm with you girl! Love, love, LOVE McD's diet coke! And I said my goodbyes as well to all my fav carbonated diet beverages...parting is such sweet sorrow...but I really haven't missed it that much so far! Lol

    Who Are You?

Wow....this is such an awesome thread!! I'm 40 yrs old, live in Louisiana, and my occupation is police officer. I guess like alot of other officers, I ate alot to cope with the stress....I tell my friends the things I've seen and situations i've been in, and I don't think they believe me sometimes. Everybody thinks that officers are one big family...well maybe if you're skinny...I haven't seen it and I've been a cop for awhile now. I've been asked by thin people to have my picture taken with them...i always turn them down because I know that they want to put it up on their FB wall and make fun of the fat cop. But all that will end soon...my surgery date is June 19th!!!!

    June surgery dates

    June 19th!!!!! Sooooo excited!!!
  12. The final straw was ripping the seat of my pants at work and being told by the uniform store that it was the biggest size they carried and if i wanted a bigger size, they'd have to special order it....humiliated beyond belief. I decided right then and there that I just couldn't do this on my own and needed serious help.

    June sleevers?

I'm June 19th too!!! I'm more worried about my co-workers finding out than anything else. They snicker, talk about me, and don't respect me at all. When I was thin, it was no problem...they thought I was awesome. Unfortunately, I went through some difficult things, and no longer cared about my weight. I'm really tired of the people I work with, who know little about me really, seeing me as lazy/incompetent because I'm overweight. Can't wait it get back to my old weight!! But I just don't want them to know cuz I'm sure they will snicker about that! Lol. Oh well....it's about me getting healthy and happy again...screw em! LOL Good luck everybody! :-)
