  1. I was sleeved by Dr. Garcia..on may 20 I have done very well!! The surgery was a lot easier than I thought....but today I started having some issues..of course Ive had the gas pains, which I honestly thought would be gone by now? How long do the gas pains last? Also these protein shakes are killing me!! They make my stomach feel so full and heavy!! Does anyone think it would be ok to wait another week or so to start those back? Also I have a pretty bad taste in my mouth I read that gum wasn't a good idea because it can add to gas, so would it be ok to suck on lifesavers? Also when did any of you guys start the puree and what did you try first? any advice would be appreciated!
  2. I was sleeved on may 20, and I am having major trouble getting the protein drinks down!! I have tried several different kinds and they all make my stomach hurt and feel really heavy and full!! anyone else have this trouble? is this normal or should I call my dr?? thanks.
  3. I finally found one that I can manage!! Its called elite liquid protein shots!! Its small only 2oz!! Thank goodness! I drink it really slow! It made me a little queasy and my stomach full! but I kept it down! I was so glad to finally find one I could do! I had tried at least 6 different kinds!! Its only 25 grams of protein so Im sure I need to do 2. My dr told me that protein was so important because when you are losing weight so quickly that you can lose muscle.. and your heart is a muscle, so if you lose weight fast enough and lose muscle as well as fat that you can lose some of your heart muscle!! That scared me bad so Im glad I finally found one I can drink!!! :) :)
  4. I had surgery on may 20 and kidney stones were a concern for me because I have had them a few times before. If you have had kidney stones before your Dr. can draw blood (or test the kidney stone if you passed one in the hospital) and see what mineral is causing you to make excess stones. That way you can know for sure what mineral to avoid. My Urologist and Nephrologist told me to make my urine really acidic. Drink water with lemon, lemonade, oj, etc. the more acidic your urine is the harder it is for the stone to form.
  5. Yes I have a print out from dr. Garcia..and I have also went right by his instructions..however there was nothing on it about hard candy, like life savers. I can start the puree on day 15 which will be Tuesday for me. Im very nervous! So far Ive done really well with the liquid diet, Im just worried because I do NOT like pudding, applesauce, jello, or cottage cheese. SO it looks like I will be eating a lot of lentil soup, mashed potatoes, cream of wheat and chicken and beef broths!
  6. I was just wondering if anyone has tried the pureed lentil soup? I do like lentils and know they are full of protein, but Im worried about adding gas and if I should avoid this? any advice would be appreciated! thanks!

  9. I was just sleeved with Dr. Garcia at Florence on May 20. I am so happy with my choice!! The hospital is small but clean. My surgery went wonderful! I had NO complications at all! not even any pain. I did have some gas! but other than that I did wonderful! Now the docs did tell me I was best case senerio! I had A LOT of people praying for me and I believe that was a huge factor in how well I did! We flew into san diego cal on sunday, I had surgery on monday was released from hospital on wednesday spent 2 days in the marriott! (which is a beautiful resort!) and I was home by last night! Tijuna is a little intimadating, but I come from a very small town. My total cost which does include passports for my husband and I, flights, food for him, and surgery was around $5600. hope this helps and message me anytime with more questions! I know how overwhelmed I was with the whole process so if I can help let me know!
  10. I was sleeved on may 20. I am doing really good! (thank God) had a very easy time! No pain hardly at all! I only took one pain pill when I left the hospital. The only trouble I am having is drinking enough. I am having I assume are gas pains when I try to drink. But other than that Im doing well. Hope things get better for you!

  13. I have my gastric sleeve scheduled for May 21 with Dr. Garcia at Florence Hospital in Tijuina. I have a lot of questions? I am in the medical field and I have several family members who are in the medical field. So they are scared and I am also scared! Does anyone know if they check after the surgery for leakages?
