Starting My Pre-op Diet Today!
I started today too! I don't have to do all liquids (clear) until the last two days. For now I'm supposed to stay "lean & green" per my nut. High protein, low carb, 1200-1500 cals per day. I am also having protein shakes, had one for breakfast mixed with water, so I can try out all the different flavors in a sample pack I got from my doc's office. Dealing with head hunger primarily, I know that will be the hardest part for me.

Drains?
What's the "medicine ball"? Haven't heard of that yet.

California? Anyone...ツ
Started my 2 week preop diet today. Trying a bunch of different protein supplements. I know my tastes might change postop but I want to have something on hand for my first week. Had 2 protein drinks so far this morning and I'm hungry! But I think it's probably more head hunger than body hunger. Looking forward to my salad and salmon for lunch!!

Back To Smoking
My doc said I had to quit e-cigs two weeks before surgery. He said the nicotine constricts your blood vessels and ups your risk for issues during and after surgery. I decided to quit three weeks before and am doing ok (surgery is June 17). He says cigarette smokers have to quit a month in advance. Nicotine is such a hard addiction to break!

Does anyone feel like they are the "fatest" one in your family?
I for sure have always been the fattest in my family. It really sucks.

Spartos protein water
Found this at Whole Foods on Harrison in San Francisco. My nut said this would be good for liquid stage and after. I like that its all natural. So far strawberry coconut is my fav! You can buy online too. http://www.spartos.com/sugar_free.html

Hi sunkiss713! Can't wait to hear how things go! I'm in the process of scheduling all my pre-op tests and filling out consent forms, etc. Seems like so many things to remember to check off the list, it's a bit overwhelming! But I'm excited. From all accounts I've seen Dr C is excellent, so we are good hands.- Waiting

I read somewhere that a symptom of serious dehydration is white on the tongue. Maybe that is the issue?- Who Are You?
Hi - my name is Nina. I live in San Francisco. I'm currently considering VSG, my first consultation with the surgeon is May 24. In the past I wasn't interested in WLS (RnY or DS) because the potential side effects sounded not worth the risk. But VSG sounds better. My insurance however doesn't cover any type of WLS, so I will have to self-pay. I've been struggling with my weight all my life, gone up and down and up again so many times I've lost count. I'm hoping the tool I gain through VSG will be the key to me achieving a healthy weight and staying there. We'll see! I'm learning as much as I can by reading everyone's posts! Happy Friday! - California? Anyone...ツ
