  1. Me too Txtinana - I just ordered demitasse spoons and forks and a set of 20 reusable 2oz Tupperware containers with lids.
  2. Hope it goes smoothly! Best of luck.
  3. After meeting with anesthesiology I met with the surgeon's assistant. She answered all my questions. I'll be in the hospital one night unless there are complications. I made my 2 week follow up with her and the NUT. After that I had lunch and went on a two mile walk. Then I met with the sleep doc. She told me that they consider severe sleep apnea anything over 30 episodes in an hour of not getting enough air/oxygen and I had 57 on average an hour per my sleep test! No wonder I was so tired. With the machine I'm averaging 2.8 an hour....anything under 5 an hour they consider no apnea. She also said that she thinks once I lose the weight I won't need the machine anymore and I will get retested again in six months. Final appointment was with the NUT. He was training another dietician who was very nice. I can go on their "Stage 3" diet when I'm released from the hospital which consists of all the liquids in the first two stages plus yogurt (no fruit pieces), small curd cottage cheese (blech! ????), cream of wheat, SF pudding, custard, strained or puréed cream soup etc. I'll be on that for two weeks and then progress to Stage 4 puréed. It was a long day but so worth it. Hope everyone is doing well!
  4. So I am at the hospital for all my pre-op testing today.just met with the anesthesiologist and he said everything looks great. Next stop blood draw, meet with surgical team, sleep doc, and NUT! FULL DAY but so worth it because my eye is on the prize......8/17!
  5. Peanutbutterlady I'm in MA and work in Boston...how come you are going south for surgery? Are you self-pay? I know it's cheaper down south. I too limited who I told about surgery. I'm getting sleeved on 8/17 so I know how excited you are! I'm excited for you! YAY YAY YAY!
  6. Hello everyone. I can't believe 2 weeks. So excited. TXTinana - I've been doing good. Walking almost every day, taking kick boxing 2x a week. It's really helped with the scale, it broke my plateau was having for a few weeks where I gained and lost the same pound over and over. I have ALL my pre-op stuff this Thursday, so I took the day off. My day starts at 9 and my last appointment is at 2. I'm excited to get it done and get more info for what happens after the surgery....I mean I have some idea from all posts and books I've read but I want to see what the NUT says for after surgery and how that will progress. I'm work and I'm trying to get as much stuff done as possible to make my time away as easy for my colleagues as I can. I'm also trying to get stuff done at home too...it's a busy time. Hope everyone else is doing well!
  7. Great post! Thank you for sharing.
  8. I'm 5'10".... My goal weight is 165. That would be 130lbs total. I'm at 257 now, so I've got under 100 to go ☺️. Surgeon didn't give me a goal weight (yet). My PCP said 175.
  9. Koziejozie - sorry I missed your post you are also having surgery on 8/17 - that's awesome! So many of us on the same day.
  10. Innerpeace90 - good luck with your journey. It sounds like you have had a trying year. Good for you for focusing on YOURSELF! I wish you the best of luck.
  11. TXTina & ylluz - it is nice to know two other people here on the boards having surgery the same day as me. My office did not give me a "pre-op" diet, but rather told me I needed to lose 15lbs before they would schedule me. Of course I had to do other stuff, psych visit, testing, and meet with the nutritionist. I've met with the nutritionist twice. I've lost a total of 36lbs since starting in April and I am just going to continue to do what I've been doing up until the surgery day. I did decide to GIVE UP Peanut Butter (the natural kind) because I found myself on a slippery slope with it. I love it with apple slices but it is hard to limit myself to the 2 TBSP. I actually have a TBSP measure at work to keep me honest! I wish you both the best of luck in the upcoming days! I do all of my pre-op stuff on 8/6. I got the official letter confirming that I am scheduled for 8/17 today and it looks like I am the FIRST SURGERY OF THE DAY for my surgeon! I'm scheduled for 7:30 AM......WOOT WOOT.
  12. I'm going to St. Elizabeth's in Brighton they have a great program there. Dr. Pecquex is my surgeon and she is fantastic. All the staff at St. E's are really nice.
  13. Wow it's so great that two other people are having surgery the same day.....only 19 days away. I've been waiting a long time for this. I am not going to squander this chance to be healthy. ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
  14. I got a call from the surgical coordinator THIS MORNING who said I do not have to wait to schedule anymore AND she is going to try to schedule the pre-op stuff in the same day as my final NUT appt! I am so HAPPY!!!!! I went from waiting to having a surgery date in 19 days! Sooooooo much to do.
  15. I don't understand....at my last office visit with the surgeon they said they couldn't out in for my surgery until after I got the CPAP machine and met with the sleep doc. I was so disappointed. I don't see the sleep doc until 8/6. TODAY IN THE MAIL WAS MY SURGERY APPROVAL LETTER FROM TUFTS! It actually came yesterday but I didn't open it because I thought it was the authorization for the CPAP machine. I had to read the letter three times just to make sure I was reading it correctly. I can't believe it. Just when I was resigned to having to wait i get this surprise. I'm so happy I could cry. Now if the surgeons schedule allows I can have my surgery in August, probably toward the end of the month ????
  16. Hi. It's looking like I will be a September sleever. My last appt with the sleep doc is on 8/6. I changed my final NUT 1 hr visit to that day too. After that they submit the paperwork to my insurance company. The surgeon said it could take up to 30 days for them to hear anything. Even if they hear in a week or two I'm sure with vacations, etc. I'll be looking at September. I can hardly wait I'm so excited to get this done.
  17. Welcome...you are doing great!
  18. I have read several books on the gastric sleeve including the big book of gastric sleeve. I've researched my @ss off ???? with online forums, blogs, articles etc. Nature girl I hope your surgeon lets you have your surgery... I'm just waiting for the appt to get my sleep apnea machine and then they will submit it to my insurance. Good luck!
  19. I had a starting BMI of 41.6 and now it is 38. I have one more visit before they can submit my paperwork to Tufts. I did not have to do the I can change program. I have high blood pressure and severe sleep apnea. Hopeful to submit my paperwork in the next month. Good luck.
  20. Well I saw the surgeon, no date for surgery yet. I have to follow up with the sleep doctor and they don't have any openings until the end of July/early August. I won't get the appt until next Monday when they are back from vacation. I've waited this long, I'll just keep on working trying to chew 25x for each bite. Everyone is doing so well! I am seeing the before/after pics on this thread and it's very encouraging so thank you all!
  21. Megmom.....no there is just the one doctor. I guess I will have to wait.
  22. The hospital has all of my records. With the exception of the Psych visit, all of my testing has been done there. I really don't want to change, and I'm not sure my insurance would cover it. I need to learn to be patient. It's not in my hands. Hopefully there will be a cancellation or something...if not, I just have to wait. Having surgery in September isn't the worst thing.
  23. I saw the surgeon today. She was awesome, said I would be a great candidate and I should do well. She also said it could take up to a month for insurance to approve. I've done everything I need to do. Then she noticed no one ever schedule me for an EKG... I had the echocardiogram, but not the EKG. OK no big deal, I can get that done this week. Then she realized I haven't been scheduled for a follow up with the sleep lab for my severe sleep apnea. They can't submit the paperwork to the insurance carrier without it. The sleep lab doctor isn't back until Monday 7/8... And they are currently scheduling at the end of July early August. I am ???? because I was so hopeful that they would be able to submit the paperwork today. I had the sleep study done over a month ago....surely SOMEONE should have called to book me a follow up if this was needed? At first I was really angry but now I'm just sorely disappointed. They can't even make the appointment for me until 7/8 because the sleep doc has to review every request *sigh*..... Not much I can do but ask to be put on a cancellation list and wish for the best.
  24. Hope it all went well and you are on the road to recovery ☺️
  25. I am 5'10" and my highest weight was 295. I started the process in April and was 290. I see the surgeon on Tuesday and hopefully I will get a surgery date after that. I am currently 269 after starting the pre- op diet. I had to lose 15lbs to qualify for the surgery. I've see the nutritionist twice, the NP, the psych doc (who was awesome - she said she thought I would do great), had the sleep apnea test, Echo and barium swallow. I'm so ready. I remember being about 215 in college and I thought I was huge....I wish I hadn't been so down on myself. Anyway I would love to be 165. That's my goal. I have already made several lifestyle changes...no soda...no coffee. I'm drinking on average 100 oz of Water a day. I walk on my breaks at work. I'm 44 and I have two nieces and a nephew that I want to be around for and do more stuff with. One of my goals is to go zip-lining. I wouldn't dare at this weight but when I get closer to goal I'm doing it.
