Well good news. I had my first consult today with the surgeon. I am definitely a candidate for the surgery and he will do my gallbladder at the same time since I'm having attacks. Because of my history of a high BMI and health issues, my insurance approval should not be problematic and I will not require a letter of medical necessity from my PCP. Woo hoo!! I am so glad I don't need her help. I'm requesting my medical records from my PCP and dumping her- I Want To See Before & After Pics!

Thanks guys. I will get a new PCP. The thing that frankly pisses me off is that I need a letter of medical necessity from her for my insurance to cover. So it looks like I will more likely be self pay. I will ask my surgeon to recommend a primary who is bariatric friendly. And I will getting gallbladder out instead of dealing with it. SMH!- Annoyed with PCP
So, I have been overweight my whole life. I am 33, i was 175 in high school. 210-220 most of my adult life and now topped off at 245. I feel like crap. I have researched and thought about bariatric surgery for the past 10 years. I am now confident that the sleeve is right for me and just done with dieting. I have no comorbidites but have other issues that I won't go on forever and list. In the past two months I have been in the ER twice and told to have my gallbladder out by the ER docs. Saw my primary the other day and she proceeds to tell me that all her patients who have done bariatric surgery have all gained their weight back and instead of removing my gallbladder I should just eat right and deal with it. I requested a letter of medical necessity and medical records two months ago getting ready for my consult on June 5th. And she wants to wait until I'm seen. I am so annoyed. I have been to info sessions and other consults in the past years but didn't go ahead because my insurance wouldn't even consider it and I couldn't do it financially. Now I am am prepared either way. I just feel she is trying to discourage me and it really sucks. Anyone else dealing with this?- Is anyone planning to have their gallbladder removed when you have your surgery?
I was planning VSG surgery in June. The past few months I have been having terrible pains and last weekends visit to the ER confirmed I have gallstones and need the gallbladder removed. I called my surgeons office and they said we could do it all at once. I am glad that this happened before because I think I would be reluctant to have another surgery. I am just ready to get the show on the road now!!- B&A, 163 lbs and 8 pant sz GONE!

Hi guys! I did not go to the meeting last night because apparently if want to go to Margate you need to have your seminar there. The lady in Wellington was a bit rude about it. I did call the Margate office and talked to a much nicer lady. I scheduled a consult with Dr. Wizman Xine78, I am glad to hear that you and your sister had a good experience. They said the 10,500 covers everything except preop testing. Did you have any extra charges? I'd like to keep in touch with you guys since we are close by- Exercise and Excess Skin
I'm in Jupiter- Exercise and Excess Skin
Well I got the answer to the question, apparently it is $10,500 in Margate and over $14,000 in Wellington. Although its the same doctor the practices are separate and charge different prices. Although Margate is over an hour away, I think it's worth checking out. Hope that helps someone- Exercise and Excess Skin
I called Wizmans office before you replied. They quoted me 14300. I saw 10,500 on a website. Is this the price that you actually paid? Or are you going off the website? I wonder why they quoted me differently. I talked to a lady named Gwen and I'm going to a seminar tonight. Can you private message me with more info??- Exercise and Excess Skin
I am in South Florida too. If any if you are self pay, would you mind sharing the cost and doctor with me? Also if they offer any payment plan. Thanks!!- I Want To See Before & After Pics!
