  1. I had some pounds creep back after the holidays and started swimming laps, but I would be starving afterwards, so I wasn't losing weight. Found out that cold stimulates appetite, so now I'm soaking in the jacuzzi after my swim and it seems to help keep the ghrelin down. Also upping protein and cutting carbs. Still working on it.
  2. One year out and I can't tolerate shakes anymore, they give me diarrhea. They were a very useful breakfast and I miss that.
  3. I just updated my gallery. I loaded a really nasty looking picture of me at 235 lbs. from a couple of years ago. My belly rolls are bigger than my boobs. Start weight 235, end weight 137. Surgery 8/12/13.
  4. Nicely said, thanks Alex. A timely post. We've lost a number of great members. It's a real shame.
  5. The bariatric coordinator at United Healthcare recommended I join an online forum at the beginning of my looking into WLS. Best advice ever.

  7. Feel better soon! That's a real ouch you are going through. Hugs! For what it is worth, that seems like more food than I eat now at 5 months. I would definitely talk to your surgeon about how much food you can get down. I couldn't possibly eat an entire Lean Cuisine, maybe half. I rarely get in more than 200 calories at a meal. And just a suggestion, I would cut out the half and half and switch to low fat or skim milk while you are losing, just a thought. That half and half is about 80 calories right there. It adds up.
  8. Cali, lots of opinions here, but I'm going to add mine. I think it is a terrible idea. You have had surgery, you are barely healed from it, you are in a stall ( which everyone goes through), and your eating habits are a world away from WW diet. All this could do is give you bad information and put you even further off track. I suggest you talk to your nut, after all, that's what they are paid for. I also think your calories are pretty high for 7 weeks. You can't be eating much at this point, which suggests that you are perhaps not making wise choices, not drinking all your water, maybe you are drinking with meals, not getting in your protein, maybe not getting in enough protein, and not eating protein first. Good luck getting back on track. Try sticking with the program you signed up for and use your doctor and his staff.
  9. just out of curiosity, did you ever stall? I didn't. I wonder if fast losers stall more frequently than slow losers....
  10. I'm a slow loser, too, but from what I am reading, the slow losers are losing mostly real fat, not fat and muscle. Next time you are at your nut's have them check your lean mass. Yay for slow losers! Congrats to you on your accomplishment!

I couldn't get my wedding ring off for surgery. I'm looking forward to being able to clean it.
  12. Patty, great job! You should be so proud of yourself. Good luck to you.

Ms. K, careful with the sonic slushees. I love them but found out the calories range up to 600 calories for a Rt 44! The slush mix has sugar, even if you cut your strawberries in half. http://m.sonicdrivein.com/Content/downloads/SonicNutritionGuide.xls
