  1. Let me add my CONGRATS to yours.... way to go, Laura!! I agree... this website is a lifeline for me, too! Rewards..... massage is nice.... don't think I'd like it, but I know many who love it. My 100 lb reward... earrings... diamond studs! Then Coach purse for hitting "Onederland". I am going to see "Menopause the Musical" toight with a bunch of ladies from our RV park. Really looking forward to it. It's a musical spoof on menopause using reworded songs from the 50's, 60's and 70's. I heard it's hilarious. Later, Chicks!!
  2. So sorry, Steph. Will keep you in my prayers! Wish I had some words of wisdom!
  3. Lunch and visit sounds okay. We could always go back to Cabazon... no more Coach purses right now, but I could buy a couple more bottles of that Raspberry Wasabi Mustard! LOL! And then get Earl to BBQ us some filets!! Good trick.. copy/paste! I wish I had more time to respond to everyone else but supposed to be in Activities in 7 minutes!! Gotta jump on my scooter and cruise!! Later, Chicks!
  4. Hi, Steph! Thanks for the Alzheimer's donation! Appreciate it! Yep I'm going to try the whole 2 mile walk! I think I can do it. I sent crabby pants an email reminding him I had beading today, and letting him know we were invited to a Margarita Party next door this afternoon. AND, he asked me in the hot tub this morning if I wanted him to make me a salad for lunch. So I said no.. I won't be home for lunch. I'm going to beading. I tooka Kashi bar with me. So.... I get home from beading at 3 pm (made two rings) and he says, "Hmmmph! Thought you were gone to LUNCH again!" And then he says, "you still haven't apologized to me for yesterday!" I about came unglued!! Told him he'd be waiting a LONG time for an apology because HE was the one who needed to apologize!! Sorry.... I am venting!! I was so pissed! When he figured out how mad I was he finally apologized. But, in the meantime.... I decided I needed to flex my muscles a little, so while I was up at beading, I used the beautician's phone to call and reserve myself a seat for "Menopause the Musical" for tomorrow night. A bunch of ladies from the park are going... I invited myself to go with them!! I think I was gone when they were making these plans. So I"m waiting for a call back to see if one of them still has a seat left in their car. I am just breaking THAT news to him now!! Gave him the ad from the paper to read. He's studying it... especially the $50 part!! HAHAHAHA!!
  5. Good Morning! Looks like another beautiful day in the desert! Just PB'd on my coffee... right in to my lap! What fun----coffee slime! Sorry.... TMI!! Prompted by a coughing fit.... cough still holding on even though other symptoms are gone. Not bad, but always troublesome in the morning. Good thing I had a box of kleenex within reach! Earl spoke this morning... as he went out the door.... are you ready for this.... "SEE YOU AT THE POOL"!! WOW!! There was a hidden message in it, I'm sure... because I was 5 minutes late yesterday and he HATES when that happens!! LOL! Let's see... do I remind him that it's beading day or just not show up back at the RV until 2 or 3 pm after the pool!?? Decisions, decisions!! HAHAHA! I'm SO bad!
  6. Yeah... can you believe it. He didn't say one word to me from the time I got home until he went to bed around 10 p.m. After about an hour of his pouting, I took my glass of wine and went next door and sat outside with the neighbors! When I came back, he'd closed the door and ate dinner without me! Whatever! What a baby! So I heated up some leftovers and ignored him. Outing... I'd say back to Temecula and tour some other wineries, but.... can't drink and drive!! So will have to think of something else. But probably 3/12 would be best because I'll have to skip choir practice and by 3/26 we'll be heavy in to the Easter music. Sounds like everything is going smoothly with the house deals! Good interest rate. It will be great if you can come in July!
  7. CONGRATS!!! You are off to a GREAT start!! AND, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! What a GREAT birthday present you've given yourself!! :w00t::party:
  8. Yep... just have to keep working at it. I'm trying hard to ramp up my walking... new knee last August, so I am much more able to walk than I was before and no longer relying on my electric scooter everywhere I go! In fact, I'm walking in a 2 mile walkathon for Alzheimer's on Saturday. First time I have EVER tried anything like that and I'm fairly confident I can finish it. We constantly have to face challenges... mine are mostly social. So, be as prepared as you can be! Today went out to lunch at a BBQ place with my Red Hat group. I LOVE BBQ!! But I found a 1/2 BBQ salad on the menu that allowed me to have my BBQ and still keep it fairly healthy. Used more salad dressing than I probably should have, but I wasn't eating pulled pork sandwiches and sweet potato fries like most of the other ladies!
  9. Hi, Well, LOVED Babe's and had an enjoyable afternoon. I ordered a 1/2 BBQ salad... it was yummy. It came with a little tiny loaf of cornbread. I ate two skinny slices and brought the rest home. Probably used too much salad dressing, but at least I wasn't eating sandwiches and huge piles of sweet potato fries like everyone else was. There were a few who ordered salads similar to mine, and one gal ordered a whole salad! It was HUGE... like family sized! So, after that I decided to stop at Target, then Best Buy, then went looking for a beading store my friends told me about. Found it but it was closed!! :hurray: So then I stopped by to check out the new location of the scooter store we used to go to for servicing my electric scooter... and bought one from him a few years ago. I had an ulterior motive. I am in this online photography group and the assignment for March is to take pictures of "Modes of Transportation", so I'm trying to be creative and not get the usual trains, planes and automobiles! Yesterday I did golf carts. You can only submit one photo a day. Anyway, after that i stopped to get me a Starbucks... SF FF. And I parked in the parking lot to call Earl and let him know I was on my way home. That's when my day went down the toilet!! He was very angry because I'd been gone so long and proceeded to chew me out! So.... I got home at 4 p.m. and he's not speaking to me. At least he didn't lock me out... My neighbor with Alzheimer's does that to his wife when she's gone longer than he thinks she should be. But... if he thinks HE'S mad.... wait until he tries to pretend everything is FINE!! :w00t::biggrin::biggrin::banghead: Because I am SUPER pissed! Steph.... so glad you're checking in with us again. I don't think I could tackle quilts, but then I didn't think I could do beading either, esp with my pathetic arthritic fingers, but I do just fine. And, oh yeah.... that's where I'm going to be TOMORROW afternoon and I think I'll stay SUPER LONG!! I missed last week so I have to make up for that! We're doing rings this week, but last week they did little tiny purses... like to make a pendant and earrings. So I will be learning two projects tomorrow. And, yes, a busy week... and I even forgot to include choir practice on Friday afternoon. But... we only have another month here, so we need to try to get together again before we leave. At the moment, I'm thinkin', "girls only outing"!! LOL Memory Walk this weekend is at Palm Desert Civic Park. It's a 2 mile walk... not sure I can finish it but I will try. Yesterday afternoon I walked up to the office and back... 40 minutes. Don't know how far that is but I'm thinking not 2 miles!! But I was okay with it. Tired when I got back, but okay. Took about a 5 minute rest when I got up there... looking over my mail. On the way back I could hear all the Canadians hooting and hollering and honking their car horns! They'd just won the Hockey game GOLD!! Sorry about your new "challenges" at work!! Hang in there!
  10. Good Morning! I don't think I have the stamina to do that kind of long distance driving! We always take the 210 also, for the same reason... too much traffic. Kind of funny because our GPS doesn't know the 210 goes all the way to I-10 now so "he" keeps trying to make us take an exit and cut down to 10. Finally gives up after about 5 miles or so & shuts up! This week..... Red Hats luncheon at Babe's after Water aerobics today. Never been there and hoping I find something healthy on their menu. Might look at it online real quick before I go to the pool but I only have a few minutes left. I'll be in high gear when I get back getting ready to leave! Tuesday.... beading after water aerobics, Wed.... volunteer in Activities office from noon to 2pm, Thurs.... going to lunch (again) with old (and I do mean OLD) friends from our Winnebago club in Oklahoma who are in the area at an RV park in Indio. Friday..... nothing, I think. Saturday... WALKING in Alzheimer's fund raiser in Palm Desert... "Memory Walk". Evening- Night Bloomin' Jazzmen performing here... dixieland type music. sort of a busy week Yes, Steph... HUGS!
  11. Very nice house! Great "sewing room"! Are there services planned for your Dad?
  12. Glad you're back~ and that the trip went well~!! Long travel day for you! QUOTE=salsa1877;1424014]Good afternoon, I am back over the hill. I just got back a couple of hours ago and had to get ready for a potluck tonight. We are taking fruit and cheese so that I have something healthy to eat. I think this fill is pretty good though. I have only had some Jamba juice oatmeal for breakfast, some chicken for lunch and some cheese and fruit for a snack. If I don't eat slow and chew well I get stuck, but so far I have been able to eat everything if I actually follow those rules!!! Well I need to finish getting ready so we can leave. Chat later. Glad that the fill went well and that you're back. Glad you stopped by with an update!! Miss you when you're not here! Sorry for your struggles. Will keep you in my prayers. Things looking good on the house. We'll hold our breaths that this one goes through!! Glad you're coping okay with all that's going on. Hope Candice is having a great time! And that she got to watch the Canadians win the Hockey GOLD!!
  13. LOL! We love your pictures...dirt included! I'm doing great. Finally got over the crud! LOL!! I'm glad I'm not the only one with CRS!!! Hope the little guy is okay now!! Sure its not anything you did or didn't do!! I love the new photo too, Julie!
  14. Just popping in to say "HI" to all of you! Please forgive me.... its a challenge to keep up with all the posts! I thoroughly enjoy keeping up with all of you, but a bit overwhelming to respond to all. I am doing so much better. Still taking some antibiotics (left over from a UTI!) because my left ear is still hurting a little, and my lymph nodes in my neck. I gained 4 lb while DD & SIL were here!!! Probably a lot of it water, but nevertheless, 4 lb!! Too much dining out (sodium), too many "adult" beverages, and not enough exercise---- partly because I skipped a few times when I was feeling lousy, and when we were sightseeing with DD & SIL. We had a GREAT time, BTW... in Temecula-- wine tasting with ... now this is complicated.... step-granddaughter-in-law!! Get that??? She is tour guide at one of the best wineries in CA and she took DD & I (ladies' only afternoon) to her winery for VIP tasting and let us use her discount (50% on wine, 30% in gift shop) to buy whatever we wanted!! We stayed there in Hampton Inn that night. Next day we drove to San Diego where we stayed in the Hilton... thanks to another friend and her "family and friends" discount!! We went to the San Diego Zoo that day. Next day we drove over to Coronado Island where we walked on the beach and then explored the Del something hotel... very fancy place where all we could afford was coffee!! LOL! But we had great fun the whole time they were here. SIL is closer to our age than to DD's, so we are a very good "fit" and get along well. At that hotel... after we got our coffees, we sat out on the hotel patio to take in the beautiful beach and sunshine. A couple across the sidewalk from us came out to a table and set down their coffees and pastries and then went back inside for a minute (she forgot her purse). They no soooner turned their backs when we heard all this commotion and turned around to see two sea gulls fighting over their pastries! In a matter of seconds, the goodies were gone and so were the birds! The couple came back out to find only their coffee and an empty paper wrapper!! I thought my DH would never stop laughing! The couple was not amused and I saw the woman standing there muttering at one of the birds who'd come back to survey the damage while her hubby went back in for more pastries. Judging by the cost of our coffees, almost $10 for a large latte and a large coffee... I'm quite sure the seagulls devoured several dollars worth of sweets!
  15. I'm just 5 ft tall and started at 327 lb, BMI of almost 64, so not far from where you are really. I know there are some who say if they had it to do over they'd go with the sleeve because that eliminates "fills". And I know of one who converted from band to sleeve after a year or so because of some complications.. I think she was having a lot of trouble with reflux. I'm happy with my band, but if problems developed, I'd probably convert to sleeve also. There are threads here for that, I think, so do some research on your way to making a decision. I was banded July 07. Slow looser... so I haven't reached goal yet, but down 130 lb. Knee problems impaired my ability to exercise for the first two years, but now I have a "new" left knee which has helped a lot. Exercise is an important part of this journey.
  16. CONGRATS to the newly banded two!! You're on your way to a healthier you!! WOOHOO!!:smile2::party::smile:
  17. Very nice! I posted it to my Facebook Profile Page! Got me thinking.... don't know if we'd want to take up a whole day with this or not... but chew on it... We could drive to Bellingham in July... an hour or so.... and take a foot ferry to Victoria for the day if everyone brings their passport. Being July 4th weekend.... it might be crowded, and don't know what it would cost. This is NOT fair.... Tracy & Jim just went home Tuesday night. So... we all got weighed in the last day or two... Tracy lost 4 lb, Jim stayed the same, I gained 4 lb and Earl gained 9 1/2 lb!! HUH??????? What's up with that??? I ate way less than any of them... yes, too many adult beverages AGAIN, but no more than anyone else. We just got back from Walmart/Costco where we replenished our salad supplies!! I'll have it off in a week. It'll take Earl 2 weeks, but he'll do it.
  18. Trying to catch up on all the posts since Saturday!! We were gone for a few days with our DD & SIL. Had a great time. Got back last night. Can't begin t respond to all the posts, but yours caught my eye, Julie!! Those are all the same shows I like to watch!! DH would watch Fox News 24/7 if I let him! I get tired of it pretty quickly!
  19. So sorry, Karla. Peace and comfort for you and your family as you deal with your grief. Hugs!
  20. Good news, Karri!! Trying to catch up on all the posts while I was gone! Good to be back but we had great fun! Tracy and Jim got home late last night and she's at work today!
  21. Hi! In Temecula. Fish tacos for lunch. Decided to self medicate! Sinuses hurt so, Sudafed, Aleve, Keflex leftover from last UTI!
  22. Feeling much better. Off to Temecula/San Diego with Tracy and Jim for a couple of days. They fly out Tues. afternoon.
  23. I am feeling SO much better. Still a little coughing, esp in the morning, but so much better! Didn't get to the fair. SIL's DS and 2 grandchildren came over from Temecula and they just wantd to swim! Just as well. We stayed here all day yesterday, watched Olympics and just talked and visited. Very enjoyable! Today we are leaving for a couple of days. Temecula tonight, San Diego tomorrow night and we will do some sightseeing Mon/Tues before they fly home.
  24. Thanks, Laura! I haven't had any fever. Nasal passages feel inflamed. Don't think sinuses are infected. Just so tired of feeling so yucky and run down!
  25. Good Morning, Gang! Very little time this week to read posts, reply to posts! So just a quick "HELLO"! DD & SIL here for a few days and trying to make the most of our time together. Still feeling kind of sick, too! Two weeks tomorrow and I'm ready to be done! Sudafed this morning is helping a little. It's a beautiful day so far but I see clouds heading this way. Our step-grandson & 2 kids on their way over for a few hours visit... our SIL's oldest son so trying to think of some things to do that will keep the two grandkids occupied and entertained. Also, our son was thinking of flying down in his airplane today from the San Jose area. Waiting to hear from him if the weather is going to cooperate or not. Called on hour ago and DGD said they weren't out of bed yet at 10 a.m.!! Dr. Laura.... here are my symptoms.... started with sore throat 2 wks ago. Then a little queasy stomach, mild congestion, achy, especially back of my head and neck... that continues, lungs seem clear, cough up stuff on & off all day but mostly in the morning, two nights ago was awake during the night with excruciating pain in my back, right side, around my waist. It was better in the morning, and better today, but still hurts in that area when I move, when I cough or even clear my throat. Whadayathink??? Dr. Janet says pleurisy. Nurse Phyl says its just a virus and it'll pass but I can't figure out the back pain.
