  1. That's a great idea. I was looking at those Kong toys at Target this morning. But does the peanut butter leave a mess? You could put a treat inside, right?? I have the little tennis balls...although two of them are already lost!! Under furniture somewhere, I'm sure. She doesn't seem to mind the crate though. Protested only once... when we were getting ready to go to the gym yesterday.. because she wanted to go too! RV test this weekend!! Going "camping" for a couple of days. Cat is NOT happy and she has few places to hide from Zoey in the RV. Expect she'll spend a lot of time behind the couch! Getting concerned about her... she's old and she does NOT like this intruder! WOW!! That is GREAT, Will!!
  2. Zoey got all wound up about 10 pm!! Freaky playful! Sometimes you just can't settle her down. Then she did her little "I want something" bark at 3:45 a.m. very quiet little woof. then if you don't respond it's another "woof". After three woofs I decided she had to potty. So I took her outside and she had to poop. I'm half asleep... it's the middle of the night.... it's dark out and scary quiet. I don't feel like walking around in the wet grass to see if there really is a pile of puppy poop out there somewhere... she squatted in three different places. So I waited until this morning to go pick it up. Then I put her back in her crate, get in bed, and 10 minutes later realize that I didn't say "GOOD GIRL!" and give her a treat!! GUILT!! Oh, well. At that point it was too late. She keeps chewing on her back leg and it's getting all pink and irritated. Should I put some antibiotic ointment on it??? Figure out how much I owe you for LV and I'll give you a check when you get here next week. Yeah... 4 days in a row of exercise... I need a break today! Shoulder a little sore. We will do "lake loop"... me on scooter.... in a little while and I'll take Zoey in the basket again. Unfortunately, Candy seems to be very depressed! She came out a few times yesterday, but wouldn't sleep with us last night because the dog...in crate... was in the room on Earl's night stand. Okay... I wrote that all down on my shopping list. Yes... we're right on the beach.. so you can beach comb to your heart's content! Earl just looked up weather report for next weekend. Chance of rain Sat/Sun, temps in the 60's. He says to tell you all to bring warm clothes! Good Grief!! Enough drama for one day??? And doesn't sound like you can find time to squeeze in a nap!! Glad everything turned out okay!! Text messages from my sister.... Uncle Ed's surgery is over and went well-"best possible scenario", per the surgeon. They should be able to see him in an hour and the doctor said he'll probably go home on Tuesday! Kind of fast for an 86 yr old guy who just had heart bypass surgery!!!
  3. Yeah, she's doing great considering she's been here barely 48 hours! She seems quite comfortable with us. And Candy is starting to wander out for short visits. I think she's going to be fine with it eventually, too. This weekend in the RV should be very interesting!! They will be in very close quarters for several days!!
  4. Julie, Would it help if I brought my scooter for you to use. My small one fits in Janet's trunk, so I could bring it. So glad to hear the Mayo news! Laura... I'd be ticked at those camp people, too! Common sense to use sun screen and keep the kids drinking water in that climate!! Frustrating!
  5. Yeah, it's getting close to ridiculous! She's all cuddled up on his lap now... watching Judge Judy! He bought a "dog grooming" kit at Walmart! Took her outside to trim her and she totally freaked out. So he boxed it all up and he's taking it back. But then he took the comb and scissors to her and I do NOT like the outcome! She looks better now that she dried and fluffed up a little, but she looks way tinier than she did with all that hair. Then he decides she needs a bath. So he fills up the bath tub and takes her in there and gives her a bath with baby shampoo. She freaked out AGAIN... like hysterically running around in circles all through the house! She didn't like being wet and was rolling in the rug trying to get dry. Tried to wrap her up in a blanket in my lap but she was too freaky! but it didn't take her long to settle down and now she's fine. What an exciting day! She loves to play catch with one of her balls. But now all I can find is one. Two little tennis balls are temporarily lost! Engine/electrical noises freak her out... so electric trimmers were a bad idea from the get go!! Had to take her for a walk when Earl brought out the vacuum cleaner! So I took her for a walk and she wiggled out of the harness when a truck pulled in to the parking lot! So... another exciting day in the Hand household! LOL! I am up and moving around and much more active the past 48 hrs.. so you think the scale would move??? Maybe 1 lb! And busting my butt at the gym/pool this week, too. PT gal told me again today.. in all the time she has been there, NO ONE has done a program as vigorous as what I'm doing. She wants to start transitioning me from the pool to the gym. She says I'm "strong" and she wants to instruct me on the machines and monitor what I'm doing. So.. probably a good idea. Next week is so busy, only time I can go is 7 a.m. Thurs. morning... you don't have to get up that early, Candice!! But I'll get up at 6 a.m. so I can get over there by 7 a.m.... 8 a.m. was already booked. So, plenty of time to do my 1 hr, shower, dry my hair and get back home. And even plenty of time to go to Surf Shack before the airport!! LOL. Then the following week we will do one session in pool and one in gym. Food has been good. Fewer snacks, good restriction. Following the rules. My Skinny Cow treats... one a day usually, now have to be held high in the air between bites as usually have the new little critter on my lap when I'm having my treat and she thinks I should share! She also tried to get at my wine and cheese this afternoon! Did a little shopping for our weekend today. I am finding that since Earl has been doing ALL the shopping, I am a bit overwhelmed by all the choices!!! HAHAHA!! I had a hard time deciding on a bag of coffee! And when I did... he came by and told me that was stupid because I could get a much bigger bag at Costco for less $$$~~ !! So he wants to take Candice and I to Costco on the way home from the airport to pick up stuff like that, and he's going to get a pork shoulder roast at the same time and he's going to cook in for us ... I didn't know which popcorn to get either... 100 calorie bags, or what?? And does anyone want Decaf coffee??? I did get SF Hazelnut Coffee Mate powder. Hope that is right! And I got a variety box of Celestial herb teas for Candice. Three of them have chamomille in them, though...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz! That puts me right to sleep! And I got a 5L box of Peter Vella Merlot. White wine in a box was "crisp" white, "refreshing" white or charonnay... so I didn't get any. Any other ideas??? Thought about making macaroni salad to go with the pulled pork, but... 210 calories for 1/2 cup. What do you think? Whole Wheat is 210, regular is 200! But Whole Wheat is healthier. Trying to think of what to have with the pulled pork. Baked beans probably, and something else. Maybe baked potatoes. Earl suggested he bake some for us and we can heat them up. Okay... this is making me hungry! After 6 pm... time to eat! Food today... eggbeaters omelet w/shrimp, latte, chili for lunch, cheese and wine this afternoon. Still have left over chili so I'm having it AGAIN for dinner...my choice. Earl found some other leftovers. Zoey just went in her crate! She likes it! Her two little tennis balls are still lost. We had to play catch with the big red ball. She hears the microwave going so she thinks she's going to eat again! Earl just fed her. Oh... HE had to pick out the dog food. I was allowed to pick out the treats! Give me a break! I thought this was MY dog!!! LOL!
  6. Yeah... I do the same... buy a lot of things on the internet, pay most of my bills online. I love automatic bill pay... don't have to worry about when they're due, don't have to write checks or pay postage... everything gets paid on time. No worry! Always make my travel arrangements online. Usually book cruises by phone, but start online... find hte one I want for the price I want. We still have a Tivo in our bedroom, but have HD TV in the LR and use the Comcast DVR. Like Tivo better! Had a DirecTV Tivo in the RV but it quit last winter. And since they no longer have a contract with Tivo, had to accept the new one they sent us. Zoey is 6 mos old... trouble with that is... she's already developed a few bad habits... like she likes to chew on fingers! Kennel lady that had her let her do that. But I don't like it so I'm trying to break that habit by telling her "NO" and giving her something else to chew on when she starts that. It's just her way of playing... but I don't want my hands chewed on! She's piddled on the carpet twice... but not since yesterday, and I think she's getting that pretty good. Gotta train her to walk with the leash. Dh has her outside now and is trying to trim her but she is freaking out.
  7. Yes, we're working on walking on a leash... a new experience for her but she's getting it. Also... i use my handicap scooter as my neighborhood "golf cart"... like yesterday I put 5 miles on it! So trying to get her used to riding in the basket for short trips to the grocery store, etc. When she gets better with the leash, we'll walk some of that, but when I go across the busy highway, I will probably use the scooter a lot. The cars and trucks freak her out. But after her near hysteria yesterday... today when I left for the gym wihtout her she was quite upset. She ranout the door with DH when she saw him uncovering it and jumped on the scooter floor. And she resisted going in to her crate for the first time since we got it. So when I got back from PT I took her for a ride over to get my latte. She was much more relaxed about crossing the highway this time. But--yeah... I am for sure getting a LOT more exercise! LOL
  8. Okay... now this is getting pretty funny! The man who did NOT want a dog is heating her dog food in the microwave, brushing her all the time, told me that we can only have her at the beach house the first night because we're going to be too busy. So... we can have her one night so everyone can meet her, and then he's going to come and get her Friday afternoon. AND, he says he's picking up uis that day and dropping us off at Anthony's Home Port while he goes to the airport to pick up Linda. And... now we're taking the dog to Walmart with us beacause it's a cool day and she won't get too hot in the car. When I got back from the pool he had her all ready to go for a scooter ride with me to Surf Shack because she was "disappointed" that she didn't get to go with us when we went to the gym. I am trying to get her used to riding in the scooter basket as well as walking on the leash. The traffic freaks her out, but she was much more relaxed about it today.
  9. Good Morning, Gang! I've been trying to keep up with posts, but new puppy is REALLY keeping me busy! I bet I have a weight loss THIS week! I'm up and down a bazillion times a day, in and out of the house for potty trips, playing catch. Little stinker's favorite play, though, is chewing on your hands and I don't so much like that because she gets too rough. So I'm trying to find some small chew toy I can keep by my chair and transition her to that. I don't like my hands and fingers chewed on!! LOL! She's on the floor with a chew toy right now, after attacking DH's brand new Crocs for a minute! Our living room looks like we have a toddler! Don't remember if I shared photos or not, but here is a new one of "Zoey"!
  10. She actually seems to like the crate. We're keeping it near the door and last night...last trip outside, when we got back in she went in it by herself. Earl put a folded up blanket in there for her, so it's comfy. She stays quiet in there all night. And it's making me get up early because I feel guilty if I stay in bed past 7 a.m. Earl is sticking to his "she's YOUR dog", so he leaves her for me when he gets up. He did take her out when I got up though, because he took her harness off last night. Not sure why, but I can't do it myself... she's too wiggly. Yeah... she does NOT make that much noise, and when she was barking at her toys it was hilarious and Earl was a nervous wreck and I think he was making more noise scolding her than she was making playing. She's ignoring the shoes now that she has some more toys. (Spoke too soon... she just went after Earl's new crocs again! short attention span, though, she's off to something else.) She's pretty smart.. she is getting treats for good behavior and she knows exactly where they are! The thing about making her walk on our "lake loop" circuit is we have to cross a really busy highway and cars completely freak her out. Once we got away from the main highway she settled down eventually, but then there's a long stretch where we have to go up the shoulder of the road. We had to take turns holding her for part of it because she was so scared she was trying to get out of the basket. So... I am continuing to walk her on the leash, but like Earl says... she gets pretty nervous when we get to blacktop! She's fine on the sidewalk and grass now... well except for tangling your legs up in the leash because she likes to weave between your legs! She almost killed a couple of neighbors with that! One lady picked her up weird yesterday and she tried to bite her. Silly dog is afraid to jump down off our chairs. What a wimp! My recliner is electric and I sit with my legs elevated ALL the time. So if she's on my lap and she wants down... it's push the down button on the elevator and then she jumps off! Hilarious! Earl doesn't think so! He gets frustrated when she wants off his lap and is afraid to jump down. He won't put his foot rest down!! LOL Now, Janet... I have to go to the gym for my pool PT in an hour. Think I won't ride the bike today. My calves were sore last night and I only did about 20 minutes yesterday. But, I'll still be gone about 2 hrs... shower, dry my hair and go get my latte on the way home. THEN, we're going to Walmart. I can't remember why... but one thing I know Earl is looking for is some kind of tool he saw on the internet to groom the dog! Like he knows what he's doing!! He's talking about some kind of comb that has a razor blade in it! I am going to have to closely monitor this one!!
  11. Yeah..NOT dying!! Hey...I'm definitely going to be seeing the scale go down!! I've been up and down a bazillion times today and in and out of the house about that many times, too. And playing catch! And picking up shredded kleenex! Crazy puppy is going berserk tonight and Earl is all paranoid about her disturbing the neighbors because she's making so much noise playing with her toys! So he was going to bed but he came back out and put her in her crate! Don't know what she's doin gin there but its rocking! I think she's trying to get out. I put her in there earlier today and didn't latch the gate right and she got right back out. So... did our "lake loop" this morning.. with the puppy in the scooter basket.... 3 miles. Then came home and put her in her crate and went to the gym. rode the bike for a while. Another reason I haven't been on the computer much today... puppy has been on my lap a lot and then I can't type. And... it's been warm and sunny for two days... nice to be able to sit out on the porch!! Now my allergies are bothering me.
  12. Oh, my gosh! She is such a sweetheart! So far... one little piddle on the carpet when we first got home yesterday. She is very playful, but does settle down and snuggle. She barks a little bark when she wants to be picked up. Yeah, she's pretty much won Earl's heart already. In fact, when we were still at the lady's farm, he was the one pushing taking her home when I was still wondering if she was too hyper! So... yeah.. we are both completely enthralled with our little girl. They were calling her "Pumpkin", but we didn't like that so we went back to the name on all of her paperwork....Zoey. I like that! And... Earl brushed her and cut her bangs this morning! Tracy came over with Gigi shortly after we got home and she and Gigi get along fine, too. Then we went to their place for dinner. That was a riot. She wanted to play with the big dogs, but only if she was sitting on someone's lap. Then she would bat at their faces with her paws and be playful, but she was too scared if she was down on the ground! And when Adam came home, it was killing her that he wasn't picking her up. She kept barking her little bark until I finally got him to pick her up for a few seconds. You have to pick her up... then she has to lick your face and ears and then she's content. She did the same thing with my neighbor when we got home. She loves the little boy upstairs and they wrestled in the grass for a minute or so yesterday. And she made friends with two of the neighborhood cats. So.... the only problem is that Candy is REALLY mad! Earl brought her out of "her bedroom" this morning and she sat on his lap hissing just because the puppy was in the room. I think she'll mellow out eventually but right now she won't come out of "her room"!! So... in the middle of the night I almost got up and got online because I was feeling so guilty that all I talked about was the dog yesterday because Uncle Ed is having heart bypass surgery either today or tomorrow. They tried to do the angioplasty/stent yesterday and the blockage was so complete they couldn't even get the catheter in. I don't know how he's even still walking around! So... keep him in your prayers. Speaking of the middle of the night.... Earl insisted on going to buy a crate for the dog before we went to Tracy's. So we went to the pet store and got one and put her in it in the car. She was perfectly content in there. So I put her in it when I went to bed last night and everything was fine until Earl got up to go to the bathroom and she started barking! So he put the crate on top of his night stand so she could see us and she was quiet the rest of the night. I brought her out when I got up a little after 7 a.m. , let her out and took her outside. Worked great. Lady told me she doesn't chew anything! Not true. She likes to chew fingers. So we bought her a toy and found our red ball... which she loves, but I'll go over to Target later and get some chewy things. And she does like shoes! Was in the bathroom changing in to my pjs last night and she was curled up on the bathroom rug. All of a sudden she grabbed one of my shoes and ran! I don't think her little teeth can do any damage, but she was just chewing on Earl's brand new crocs.
  13. Well, I found my baby! Kept looking at the picture of the little 6 mos old Imperial Shih Tzu in the paper every morning and today decided to call the lady one more time... the one who told me last week she was turning me down... and ask if we could come and meet the puppy. So we had a long conversation on the phone, and we agreed to go out to her farm at 3 pm. Bottom line... we both fell in love with this puppy and brought her home with us. She is a total DIVA!! But adapting so well, and she is going to be perfect for us, I think! We took her to DD & SIL's for dinner and she behaved very well! A little afraid to play with the big dogs but they were very gentle with her. Got jealous when DD had her little Gigi on her lap so she had to let our Zoey sit on her lap, too! And when DGS came home, barked at him until he picked her up and let her lick his face!!
  14. Yeah, we might need the aerobed if you have room to bring it. I followed up on several of those puppies and no one was getting back to me. And every morning when I looked at the classified ads in our paper I saw that little 6 mo old Imperial Shih Tzu staring back at me. So this morning I asked the lady if she'd let us come and meet her... The lady who told me last week she didn't think the dog was a good fit for us! So we went to meet her at 3 pm today and after about 1/2 hr visit, we decided to bring her home with us. She is a real sweetheart. I had reservations because she was so hyper, but she has settled right down. WE took her to Tracy & Jim's for dinner tonight and she had a blast with their three dogs. She was a little timid about getting down to play with the two bigs ones, but if she could sit in our laps and "play" with them from there, she was fine! WE went and bought her a crate, and she is very comfortable with it. Put her in it in the car and she curled up and went to sleep. She is very friendly and has to be picked up by everyone she meets or she gets upset. Grandson came home while we were out on the porch and she actually barked at him until he finally picked her up and let her lick his face! Then Gigi got up on Tracy's lap and she was jealous and barked at her until she put her on her lap too! She is a DIVA and has to be the center of attention! Quite a personality. We got a good price because she has a "hare lip" and cannot be bred.
  15. Janet's idea of "winter clothes" just means long sleeves!! LOL She doesn't know what REAL winter clothes are! Heck... a couple of days ago I headed out in a sweatshirt and came home and put on first a hooded sweatshirt and then a zip up the front sweatshirt! And if I'd thought of it, I'd put on my big thick fleece Alaska jacket!! But... It's almost 70 today and the sun has been out all day! Things may be looking up! I don't usually do well with bread either, but I can eat it if it's thin, crispy, etc. I eat the sandwich rounds once in a while, but not very often. You probably need to just try on some of those pants. I like the relaxed fit/petite...PL. But... I carry a LOT of weight in my butt and thighs, and I'm very short... like barely 5 ft. I agree... rehab for dad sounds like a GREAT idea! Canada... last year the "7's" went to Wasaga Beach.. very pretty up there. Also love Victoria BC and Whistler BC. Great summer places to visit. Banff... gorgeous! Canadian Rockies are just spectacular!! Wine for breakfast.... Hmmmm, maybe that orange juice/champagne drink... can't remember what you call it... Mimosa, I think.. Very good... but can't imagine wine for breakfast! Egg white omelet??? I'd pair that with the Mimosa!! LOL I consider my self a "techy grandma", but... I got an iTouch for Christmas and still trying to figure thigns out! I have recently been successful in downloading some eBooks and I enjoy reading my books when I'm on the bike, or at night in bed! I can't figure out the right format to download audio books from my local library, though! I think Apple has given way too much control to itunes for syncing the itouch! If you can't sync it with iTunes, it won't sync. I need a grandchild to help me!! I am very tempted to get the new iPhone, though! DGD thinks her iPhone is great and has talked DD in to getting one... She is one of the 600,000 waiting for the iPhone4!! She ordered one last week! I am tempted to get one. I'm due for an upgrade and I already have AT&T, so I think I can get the new one for $200. I think Desert Rose sounds great. You have my vote for that. I informed Earl yesterday of our Vegas plans! C'mon now... quit your whining and figure out how to get away for a couple of days!! We NEED you to come!
  16. that's great! Sometimes I use my Wii to exercise, too. There's a walking thing on the Wii Fit, and I love the balance games, bowling and golf. Some of my friends use those walking DVDs for inside exercise... walk in place. I should get one of those maybe... I need to walk more. I've heard of others doing that couch to 5k thing. One of our gals on our "lucky 7's" thread is doing marathons since she lost her weight. Another one participated in a 60 mile, 3 day walk for breast cancer last summer. Me... I want to get a dog I can take for walks!
  17. Glad you're going to be able to come! Still chilly here... may hit 70 today, though, and the sun is out. Yesterday must have been a day to make chili! We made some, too.. tasted it but we saved it for today's dinner. It's pretty healthy.... lean burger, lots of beans (3 cans), lots of tomatoes, onions, green peppers. It's yummy! Yes, Earl is definitely weakening about the dog! He still says he doesn't want one, but he's helping me look! I send him profiles that I find online and he rejects a lot of them... doesn't want a chihuahua, for example.... No short haired dog! I'm telling you.... he wants another Gigi! I found a really cute puppy online last night... very mellow, dachshund mix, 9 weeks old, sounds perfect...He says she looks TOO BIG!! I'll look at her anyways if they let me. This one you have to submit a "preliminary" questionnaire before they'll even take an application! My keyboard quit working. Fortunately, SIL gave me one he didn't need a month or so ago. It's actually more convenient... lightweight and in my lap. Typing on my laptop is a bit of a stretch, so no big tragedy that it quit working, but just another annoyance... I won't buy another Acer laptop!! It's possible it has a key lock button somewhere that I inadvertently hit, but can't find one anywhere. So will live with this until I figure it out. I've rebooted several times to no avail! Yeah, I'm going to be really disappointed if our weather doesn't warm up by the time you gals get here next week!! We'll still have fun... but I am looking forward to enjoying that beach front deck. We'll for sure be building fires in the fire pit! We'll have to gather driftwood off the beach... there's lots of it! There is a "cell phone" parking lot at the airport. We will wait there for a phone call because the airport police are venomous! If the person you're picking up isn't out on the curb with their luggage, they make you move! I am sure you can stay with my sister the night before if you want to. You can take a cab to the airport.. or one of them can give you a ride. She & my BIL both go to work pretty early and airport is close to where they live. Or... hotels across the street from airport... on Genesee St in Cheektowaga. What is bone scan about?? I have to make mammo appt SOON. And I still haven't seen eye Dr. about blurry spot on right eye. Food today.... one thin slice of whole wheat toast... VERY thin, with one egg over easy. 16 oz SF,FF latte, 16 oz Crystal Lite, salad w/feta cheese and couple of slices of shave turkey w/FF Catalina and a shot of Sesame Drsg. 100 Cal skinny cow, glass of wine. Gym... 1 hr pool PT...resulting in sore back because I was showing off for lady who wouldn't do anything, and 20 minutes on bike. Did I already say all that??? I'm old... I forget stuff!! HAHAHA!! I say that TOO much lately!! LOL This is Darcy. She does look big in this picture... but looks much smaller in the other two photos they've posted. He thinks her paws look big, so he's afraid she will get too big! I think she's adorable!
  18. Yeah, Karen!! CONGRATS!! That's wonderful! It didn't take long for my doc to drop one of my cholesterol pills. I still take Fenofibrate, but even since last year... total cholesterol went from 168 to 158. She's had to cut my BP meds a couple of times, and I think my BP is still kind of on the low side. But you know what happens when you go to the doctor... you walk back there, get on the scale, etc. and by the time they start pumping up the BP cup... my BP is up to about 110-115/75 or so and she says "perfect". But if they were to let me rest... it'd be about 90/50 and I think that's a little too low. When I had my knee replacement last summer...I scared those people. I think they stopped giving me one of my BP meds while in the hospital because my BP was so low. It's fun getting healthier, isn't it!! I'm doing an hour of vigorous pool PT twice a week and using the adjoining gym for wgt machines and recumbent bike several times a week. So hope to see the scale moving once again.
  19. Yeah, where's Karla today?? We had a few minutes of sunshine a little while ago. Gone again now. It is so cold.. I wore a hooded sweatshirt plus fleece vest while riding around today. Went to the gym for a while... 30 minutes on the bike, about the same on the wgt machines. Earl went, too. Was glad to see him going back to exercise. He is having a hard time keeping his weight within TOPS "leeway"... 7 lb under goal or 3lb. over. He's been over for a few weeks. Eating is okay... but he's not been exercising. So, he skipped TOPS again this morning! Next week we'll be camping, so we'll both miss. I was down 2.8 lb today... got to wear the "crown" for the whole meeting (LOL), and got the fruit basket.. everyone brings something to put in it and the best loser of the week gets it all. So I got about 4 apples, an orange, 2 tomatoes, a banana, pkg of sugar free Jello, couple of Breakfast bars and $1 in quarters!
  20. I had two free trainer sessions. Valuable because 1st time he just interviewed me... goals, health concerns, etc. Second time he showed me 4 wgt machines he thought I should use and watched while I went through that routine... critiquing and helping me decide on the correct amt of weights. I've added one machine since then... thigh abdubctor. But, very worthwhile indeed. We ALWAYS miss you when you're gone! It gets TOO quiet here! Teeth photos are GREAT... very impressive outcome! Such a lovely lady!! Camp.... too funny! You are a kick!! Wonderful news about your dad!!! I am still spending too much time shopping on the internet for a puppy! Jessica, where are you??? Julie??? Who else are we missing today?? Jodi... still enjoying Fire Island! Here we are still wearing sweat shirts and DH & I just made a crock pot full of chili!! High today... about 61 ! High all this week... maybe 71 if we're lucky... on Wed., I think!
  21. Yeah... I know Janet has a favorite shopping place in Vegas but she'll have to tell us which one it is. Wii says I'm down 2 1/2 lb this week. Hope the TOPS scale agrees. Definitely open to all options including a puppy. What kind of dog does your friend in Denver have??
  22. Good Morning! Yeah.. such a shame... beautiful dog! She's only been with this foster family 3 weeks and she has certainly warmed up to them... was sticking to both husband and wife like glue. So I know she would have warmed up to us, but we didn't think that personality would be very conducive to RVing. She'd be facing new situations all the time when we're on the road, and living in an RV.... not really a "sanctuary" where she can hide from everything. People at the door all the time... and we like to leave the door open whenever possible. She just wouldn't be able to handle it. And, yeah... it really touched my heart that Earl put out so much effort to try to make friends with Bella. I told him how much I appreciated that knowing how he feels about getting a dog. After I said that... he spent at least an hour searching on the internet for a dog for me!!! What a turn around!! He kept emailing dog ads to me! It's kind of funny because now he's being really picky! No Chihuauas, etc. I'm telling you... he's looking for another Gigi!! Yes... he is a good guy! Even though I complain a lot.... you guys know he is a good man!
  23. Yeah, the Petco surroundings totally freaked her out. And she would have eventually warmed up to us... but, she's going to continue to be skittish in new situations, and when we're on the road... it's new situations every time we stop! And the biting was very concerning. And they said she "alert barks"... not sure of the extent of that, but living in a condo part of the year, and RV park.. we have to be sensitive to the barking issue. But if we weren't RVers, it might work.
  24. Earl will drop me off in my pjs, and with my blankie, at 7a.m.!! HAHAHA!! Yeah, right... NO MORE SHOPPING!!! Okay, Janet! We'll see how long that lasts! LOL YAY!! You can take a LONG DEEP BREATH! Glad to hear the pain level has backed off a little! Yes, I love those filets... they're so nice and tender. I cut in to tiny bites. Had one either last night or the night before... House repairs... doesn't sound like much fun! I have a hard time with chicken, too, and it's one of my favorite things... I could live on seafood and chicken! But.. these days, I only do dark meat, and not very often, and it has to be moist. You need a special TV remote or something... sort of like my cookie jar... Did I tell this story before??? WE have a policeman cookie jar and if you lift the lid it literally shouts, "STOP!! Move AWAY from the cookie jar!" Was there someone here who said they were addicted to cookies??? I should send it to them because we never buy cookies! So you maybe need a remote that shouts at you if you tune to QVC.... "STOP! Turn the channel NOW!!" We went to BBQ place after church, too... with DD & SIL & 3 grandkids... 4,7,8 yrs old. I wasn't as good as you were..I ordered pulled pork w/potato salad and baked beans. Took half the meat home with me but ate the beans and salad, except for the things I picked out of the salad. This salad had THREE things in it that I DON"T LIKE.... dill pickles, green olives and black olives! But.... nothing to eat tonight except for about 1 oz of white cheese with my glass of wine. I would take 100 degrees in a heartbeat right now! Clouds, rain, cold.... "JUNUARY".... have made me pretty depressed this past week and coming week doesn't look much better! Quesadillas sound wonderful! What else to do in Vegas????? SHOP!! I want to check out the mall I hear people talk about! Had 1/2 hr visit with the dog... Bella... decided she is not the right dog for us. Very skittish. She finally got to where she would take a treat from the palm of my hand, but she wouldn't let me touch her. She was starting to let DH scratch her under her chin... but that's it. We're looking for another Gigi (DD's dog), and this was definitely no Gigi! Beautiful dog though... and just the right size for us. But.. she would be facing new situations and different people constantly while we're traveling, and all those outside parties at the RV park... and we didn't think she'd adapt well to that lifestyle. It seems like she's been extremely traumatized. And we found out that the reason her owners surrendered her was because she bit one of their kids. She tried to bite DH when she first got there.. because he didn't know better and he reached for her. I'll just keep watching the paper and the internet sites. I have to give DH kudos, though, because even though he still says he does NOT want a dog... but I can have one if I take care of it, he went out of his way to try to make up to this dog... to the point of sitting down on the floor at Petco to get down to her level.... in his "Sunday pants" and got dog hair all over himself because we were in an area where they do dog training classes! And he tried and tried to get the dog to come to him. She would take treats from him, and a couple from me, but she obviously preferred him. But I don't know how we would've even got her home or dealt with her for the next few days until she decided she would trust us because she absolutely would not let us approach and never would've let us pick her up. A far contrast from Gigi who races across the room when she gets here and leaps in to my lap, and then DH's! Wish I could clone her!! LOL
