  1. I was recovering from a cold and had a low grade fever the day of surgery. They still did the surgery; however, I wish I had postponed. The sinus drainage and coughing was hard on the incisions.
  2. You look great! Awesome job on the hard work.
  3. You look great. Congratulations!
  4. Take it slow. Rest is your friend and healer. Remember that you just had major surgery. Move at some point each day or at least sit in a chair to regain strength. Drink liquid but remember that your new tummy will not hold much. Just make it an all day sip vs. a one time gulp. ...sigh..I do miss gulping. Sorry, I digress. Be gentle with yourself....wear your favorite sleepwear or lounging around clothes....don't rush the healing process....listen to your body. Read a good book or watch an inspirational movie. This is your time to heal. It's a journey and each day gets a little better.
  5. Great job....the success shows in your smile. You look good. Way to go!
  6. Her rock. Her backpack. You don't have to carry her rock in your own backpack.....give it back to her. It's amazing how lite our backpack becomes when we give others their rocks back.
  7. It gets better with time. I'm almost three weeks out and I can tell a difference. I mainly encounter the pain now when I drink something really cold.
  8. Thank you for sharing. You can definitely tell a difference in your weight loss. Way to go!
  9. I understand where you are. I was sleeved on April 10 and I'm struggling with one incision that simply will not heal. I'm so tired of changing bandages 3-4 x a day. I do know that I'm feeling better each day and in time the struggles will be less. I encourage you to hang in there and remember its ok to "feel what you feel" but look beyond the moment at hand and realize that time will pass....it passes no matter what we are doing...sad to say...so just remember that time will pass and you will feel better. I hope that helps.
  10. yes. my doctor recommended zantac at night.
  11. you're doing fine. hang in there. the results will begin to show. congratulations on the weight loss!
  12. Awesome job! I know you're happy. Congratulations!
  13. Good decision buts its not a quick fix. The discipline of the pre-op diet was hard for me and then to realize its a mainstay afterwards caught me by surprise. I guess I never really thought beyond the surgery, the pain, and recovery. I was so focused on pre and post surgery. However, after the doctor gave me the green light this week to begin regular food I'm realizing that how I eat and what I eat is very different. It's all good but the surgery forces a lifestyle change that is forever. I think I missed the forever part. I wish you much success and a successful surgery. Even with a couple of minor complications, I would do the surgery again. I want to be healthy.
  14. I encountered the same thing with my patient advocate. Very nice lady but gave me wrong info a few times and lost my paperwork. I left several voice mail messages that were never returned. I finally resulted to email and when she didn't respond I forwarded to the program manager. In the end, she finally responded and everything worked out. I can only imagine the number of questions she receives daily. My surgeon is one of the best and I think my patient advocate was just overloaded.....it's a busy office.

    Congratulations to both of you!
  16. I am so sorry....my heart hurts for you. You did the right thing and count this as a blessing. It may not feel like a blessing but God just did you a huge favor. Now it's time to focus on the amazing future ahead....with you leading the charge. Remember that courage is found when times are tough. You have courage.

You are so right.....the surgery forces one to look internally at the real issue....it's then that you realize you've been playing the wrong song over and over....it's time for a new song...thank you for sharing.

    Great story.....thank you for sharing.
  19. I have one as well....13 day out from surgery now....just had staples removed. The dent is from the internal stitches and will go away with time (per my doctor).
  20. Look for another surgeon in the area. The new surgeon will review your paperwork and determine what's needed next. Call your insurance company and let them know as well. As long as you complete all of the pre op requirements from your insurance, the surgeon is changeable.
  21. Thank you for sharing your story. I felt the same way after surgery and simply drying my hair exhausted me. Each day is getting better...thanks for showing "determination in motion." It's motivated me to put on my walking shoes! Thank.

No doubt, it's very difficult. Smoking, food or alcohol act the same--they make us weaker in the end. Think beyond the moment at hand and imagine what you will feel like if you don't give in to the temptation....possibly how will you feel if you do give in to the temptation? Know that you are stronger than any temptation. Harder said than done....but possible.
