    Salad

Your doctor and dietician will let you know when you are ready but I think 4 weeks is too early. I wonder what it is about salad??? I was craving Greek salad right about that time in my recovery. I am 3 months and still restricted in some raw veggies like carrots.

post op life: better than expected.

You are doing great and I might borrow yor soup recipe! I found if I put Special K protein water powder in my water I sip all day (to get in my 64 ounces) it adds very few calories (30) but 5 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber, so you get 10 gms of protein from your water intake. Also, early on when I was having trouble with my protein goals, I would sip on New Whey, a liquid protein supplement that has zero sugar, zero fat and 42 gms of protein in 3.8 ounces. I would do half over crushed ice, let it get real cold and a little watered down, as sip over 30 to 45 minutes in the evening. Actually, I still do that on days I have been running around and not able to eat. Keep up the good work, and any time you want to post recipes, I'd love to see them!

what do I need before surgery? help!

You will be told what vitamins to take, what your protein goals will be. I made lentil, pea and asparagus soup pre op and puréed it in the blender then froze it in two ounce portios. Ditto turkey breast, chicken. Bariwise makes wonderful high protein low calorie fat free powdered drinks you mix with water that are good for all phases, EAS make a low fat, low sugar high protein shake I still drink daily because they are yummy and 17 grams of protein (EAS Carbadvantage) Livestrong and Cornell university have samples of diet plans for each phase so you can get some general ideas, but it will be up to your sugeon what you eat and when. When they tell you to sip liquids, SIP! And when they say bites no bigger than a pencil eraser, they mean it! Chew, chew, chew. I am 10 weeks post op, have had zero food intolerances zero vomiting, have lost 35 pounds. Really listen to your body because you WILL feel different when you eat. Your feeling of fullness will be different( or at least mine was, helped to realize fullness by eating slower, small bites ang chewing well) Hope this is helpful.
