Recovery from Band Removal
My band removal was in November last year, easy surgery and fast recovery. Then I had to wait 6 months for my stomach to heal - my band had slipped and my surgeon said it had left my stomach an absolute "mess".. Which is why he wouldn't touch it for 6 months. I had my band for 7 years, 4 of those were bad. I was sleeved 20th may. In that 6 months in between I gained 7 kilos. Aside from a readmission to hospital for dehydration and nausea on day 6 post op, my recovery had been ok. The surgeon said he took as much as he could due to the scar tissue, so I think I have a larger sleeve.

curious how people are eating...
I had to wait 6 months between band removal and sleeve because of the damage done from my band i had for 7 years.... and snap! K8ee..i put on 7 kilos too (and my surgeon expected it!)..... i was loving life not throwing up after every meal or waking up choking on reflux during that time, but was not loving the scale creeping up.... i lost that 7 kilos on my pre op diet though

Life after the sleve....
Im nearly 3 weeks out and can drink no problems...also im on puree stage but can eat more than i expected, maybe 3/4 cup and feel hungry pretty quickly again after... i was told that the surgeon couldnt take as much of my stomach as he would have on a virgin stomach because of all the damage from the band

Not losing :(
Elliscoastie - let us know what your surgeon says. If your following their instructions I'm sure they can't be too disappointed, sometimes things just don't happen the way we expect but it's no ones fault

Not losing :(
Lipstick - that doesn't sound too good hope things ease up for u. I'm actually the opposite - im a bit worried I can eat too much (I'm in the purée stage). Everything I've tried goes down easily and the doc did tell me 'he took as much as he could' but because of the damage from my band he couldn't take as much as he would from a virgin stomach oh well, I'm ok if I'm a slow loser

Not losing :(

05/20! 05/20!
Hi all, I can't believe it's been two weeks since the surgery already! I've only lost 9 pounds since the op, but lost 16 on the pre op so pretty happy. I'm loving purees, I think if I saw one more shake or soup I might have sat in the corner crying and rocking back and forth lol

Anyone else sleeved Monday may 20
I was sleeved on the 20th too. I was on IV fluids for the first 24 hours then started sipping Water and Optifast... Doc gave me a 30ml measuring cup which I had to aim to drink3 of in 1 hour. Couldn't do it the first couple of days but I think things must have loosened up as it seems a little easier today. Still can't get it all in but it's better. And i used to love water but everything tastes yuck at the moment have you guys found that? I was surprised how well I came out of the anaesthesia this time (as compared to my lapband removal last year) but I'm feeling much more tired today than the last few days after surgery too
-
Need help-yesterday was drinking fine, today can barely sip!
Sorry hunny, I'm not exactly and expert- I'm only 4 days out, but just wanted to say hang in there and if its not any better in a day or so maybe just give your doc a call? I'll have my fingers crossed for u

LapBand - horrible outcome
Good luck mate, thinking of you!

LapBand - horrible outcome
I know you must be desperately disappointed but July isn't really that far away! I was in the same boat, I had my band removed in November and the surgeon said it had left my stomach in a distorted mess.... I've had to wait 6 month for my sleeve (I had it done Monday, still recovering in hospital). All I can say is its great you have a surgeon who wants to wait and by doing this make sure you can have a much less chance of complications. I feel for you hunny, but it will be here before you know it, I promise

Birthday Blues
I know the feeling I'm 3 days post op and its my birthday too, all I want is a big fat chocolate mud cake... Well actually I don't really - my mind thinks I do but only out of habit, I'm not even actually hungry! Wise words from everyone above. We can do this!!

May 20th
Had surgery yesterday, feeling good today. No nausea or vomiting (so far). Just tired because I never get a good nights sleep in hosp. Im just watching tv and sipping away. Been for a little walk and had a shower. This is heaps easier than I was expecting, so i guess I'm one of the lucky ones. Hope you are all doing well, check in with us when you feel up to it
