  1. Ok now....no disparaging the loser's bench. I am very happy to be on that illustrious bench. Being that you're only on liquids, it might be several days before any signs of a bowel movement. And then you might need to help it along with a stool softener. Just a heads up.
  2. No real limits. Your liquids intake may seem unrestricted (as in no feeling of fullness). Don't worry about that. You need to try for 64 ounces daily anyway. Just drink what you can during this stage. You're gonna feel better and better each day.
  3. Whichever surgery you decide on, if your Surgeon discovers a hiatal hernia, they will repair it right then during the WLS. And if your insurance covers WLS, it should certainly cover any additional charges for the hernia repair. Not sure what you meant by "same time or within 30 days". Prior to your WLS most doctors suggest an Endoscopy to check for any issues including hiatal hernias. It's an easy painless procedure.
  4. Maybe. No maybe. get rid of them as quickly as you can. Do you still keep Cookies and cake in the house? You eliminated the unhealthy food, so do the same with all aspects of your unhealthy lifestyle. Maybe even buy something you can't fit into yet (if you don't already have some from time past). Most of my fat clothes were worn out cause I hated buying fat clothes and had very few items and usually wore them too tight in denial of my size. So I pitched most of them right away. I try on the smaller clothes in my closet about once a week as motivation. It's such a fantastic feeling fitting into the next size down. I want no reminders of what I am leaving behind or a security blanket to fall back on.
  5. This time, after you lose the weight, the small stomach will still be small. So if and when it gets tough to maintain, you will still have the major tool that helped you reach you goal. Don't abuse it and it will also help you to continue to stay at your goal. Now stop worrying about what you won't allow to happen and concentrate on the effort at hand.
  6. Sometimes Nut can pigeon hole you into a category they derived from some book somewhere by some skinny author. I would give alot more credence to the advice you garner from the ones on here with real life experience. Plus the fat free Mayo is really gross.
  7. I assume your reference to judging is directed at me. If I was insensitive in any way, I apologize. I certainly didn't intend for you to take offense to my response to your post. I was merely trying to clarify what it was you were concerned about. Your post was ambiguous in this regard. I was in no way belittling you or your post. I just could not find a question in it to answer. Others were also trying to support whatever your concerns were by simply suggesting everyone loses at different rates and there is nothing to be concerned about. Even your own post states this. I hope you do not continue to feel anyone was trying to be judgmental or un-supportive and will return to inquire about any issues or questions you may have during your recovery.
  8. That's it. That's not a story. I got me a nice Protein shake, turned the the A/C down a little, and settled in to read a "Story"..........Cmon, we all did VSG. That's not the whole story. Get back here and finish. I know you have one.
  9. Sometimes I don't quite know what to make of some posts..... Are you & your fiance' concerned cause you losing too much or not enough......If you based it on your weight loss so far....you would theoretically lose about 50 lbs in 30 days..... (which you probably won't). Either way, what @@PdxMan said is how you should consider you basis for losing.
  10. It like someone tucking you in at night..........you lay on your side (at least I did. I got scoped both ends) and get comfortable. Then they put this pacifier thingy in you mouth and next thing.........they're taking it out........Waaaaa......is it over? --- "Yep" Most uneventful nap ever..............
  11. Vogue said : Many of the super morbidly obese end up with multiple PS procedures. A pannus that is too huge can impede further progress. I was unaware of this. What you say certainly makes sense, I didn't know insurance companies would consider it more than once. Thank you for this information.
  12. Probably thought you'd never get there.... huh? Next stop.....onederland. Great progress.
  13. With the amount of weight you have lost and the expected amount to still lose, I'm sure the reasons for getting a penni would be unquestioned. However, everything I have read and heard suggests, it will probably not be considered until you are almost at your goal. You would certainly not be satisfied either if you had it done too soon, only to end up with lots more sagging skin and problems upon reaching your goal. Good luck. congratulation on your great success. Keep up the excellent effort.
  14. @@Alex Brecher. I was looking over when I post and I noticed I usually center the page on the post area only. Rarely do I even see the titles at the top of the page listing the forum topic or room. I know absolutely nothing about programming but I was thinking.....If you could list the forum room right after the "how many minutes ago'' line in every post. .......ie: " posted 9 minutes ago in The Man Room" It would be more visible when reading each post I know I've mentioned it before, but just thought I'd re-approach it with more of a suggestion than just complaint. I know this still doesn't solve the replying to the Recent topics section without regard to the room posted in, so I'll leave that dilemma up to you.
  15. We must be reverting to children as we age.......It certainly seems Dr. Seuss understands us.....
  16. head hunger is like the TV. All those food commercials are meant to work on your mind, not your stomach. And then the mind goes about reminding us of those stimulating impulses all the time. Mostly when we have conditioned ourselves to responding......like finishing our meals too fast and wanting more....biggie size, or when we are bored and lazy and trying to fill a few moments during TV commercials or sitting in traffic staring at fast food joints. Get yourself a Water bottle to hang onto and drink when the urge arises. Or get up and do a walk outside. Get you MIND off of it. You're NOT hungry.
  17. I don't know about lollipops, but that did remind me of something else. I wasn't allowed to drink anything after surgery till the leak test was done the next day and I would get extreme dry mouth and lips. The Hospital had these really cool little sponges on a stick that I could dip in cold Water and wet my lips. What a relief they were. I was using them every five minutes. Just FYI.
  18. I can help you out there......mines a wreck, come on over anytime.
  19. You want excitement....forget about the approval. It's just the process to a solution. Concentrate on the result. You are on the road to defeating obesity and enjoying many more things again. Envision yourself at your weight loss goal. Now that is excitement.
  20. The weight loss is very evident and dramatic in the two pics (congrats).........but what stymies me is......what are you dressed up as???
  21. We see it, we read about it and we live it. The obesity plague is rampant. We have all gone thru the feelings of hopelessness and despair about ever being normal again. Now, I feel like I am one of a select few that has found a new path back to a normal life and I am not satisfied with that. I look around and notice every obese person and imagine myself helping them onto that same path. It is overwhelming at times. So many......I have to do something. But as you and so many others have stated, it would be inappropriate. I know that..... but I can't just leave it there. Besides, I have led a life of doing inappropriate things. So why would this stop me. I've got to find a way to offer whatever insight I can about this to others. Funny thing is.....while one type of condition or handicap may be viewed as inappropriate, another is not. I came across a very obese man in the gym the other day struggling with a knee brace and bandages. After looking around the gym he sat down and almost without hesitation, I saw my opportunity. I approached him an introduced myself. I I asked him about his knee and he said he just had a knee replacement. Having both my knees replaced a little while back, I offered some tips on his recovery. Then in a less than subtle segway, I referenced how I was worried my weight would damage my new knees...so I sought a solution. Telling him I am three months out and 55 pounds down and feel great, really amazed him. The rest is history. After about 30 minutes of his asking a slew of questions about WLS, I left him with the information to a local seminar and went on my way. Ok, one person may not make a big impact, but it was satisfying for me. Now, I'm working on ways to reach the rest.
  22. I'm giving up on the unflavored Isopure whey. I've tried adding it many times to foods and drinks and it just changes things too much. In hot stuff it clumps and changes the taste and texture considerably. Maybe for Athletes that can eat or drink 12 or more ounces at a time it would work. But trying to add it to a measly 3 ounces is just not worth the effort. Then again, maybe I'm doing it wrong, so I'm all ears for any advice.
  23. Your workout partner is gonna be that skinny guy inside you working to beat the fat guy your leaving behind. Every time the fat guy starts to edge you out.......work harder. As far as what to expect. The first couple of weeks will be liquids. Try to drink ALL the time. You can't drink too much and need at least 8 glasses a day. Don't worry about Protein too much, but if you can throw in a Protein shake or Isopure type Protein Drink here and there along with the Water. If they give you any pain meds to take home........take them. Why be in any pain at all. I wasn't. The trapped gas from the surgery might cause some discomfort, but it will pass, sometimes a little faster with the effort of just walking. So walk as much as is feasible. While these are basic preliminaries to expect, they will all be gone over with you many times by the hospital staff and your Surgeon. So Relax......you'll do fine.
  24. Hmmmm........have you cake and eat it too....and total guarantees. Wouldn't that be nice. You got obese cause you ate too much and didn't do enough exercise (if any) to keep your weigh in check. As far as life after the sleeve not being too different........you're gonna have to follow a strict limiting diet, do lots and lots of exercise and make these changes for life. Plus there are no guarantees or do overs in life as far as regrets go. Now for the good. Yes, you will be more healthy, not to mention warding off future health problems from obesity. Certainly live longer. Do more physically. Have more self confidence. Be happier. Enjoy doing many more things with your kids. Have more opportunities and on and on............ But it still is a decision and along with your having second thoughts, you'll probably have thirds and forth's and fifth's etc. And as decisions go, this one is a personal one of yours.....not your family's. Wishing you the best with your surgery and path to a healthy life, with no regrets.
  25. I would say 'Beastmode' needs to wait about 30 days or so and then approach it in "babybeast' mode.
