too much protein?
Well, 100g is not really excessive, but you do need to be aware of the calories and other nutrients your consuming along with the Protein. It would be easy to exceed your daily recommended caloric intake. As a male and with the desire to retain and build more muscle along the way, I try to do at least 100g protein a day and typically get in over 150g. I know of bodybuilders that strive for the 400+ range. Just saying......

How to deal with fat friends
I must've missed something along the way....... My weight loss was in fact from my diet and exercise. And unless there has been some new development in biology......so is everybody else's. Granted, the sleeve does help dramatically with portion control and some temporary hunger, but ultimately it's what foods......and how much food you eat along with exercise, that is responsible for losing the weight. So you say then why didn't I lose weight before the sleeve, with diet and exercise? I always did.....and I always went back to eating larger portions and unhealthy foods and stopped exercising as I got larger .......ergo....unable to maintain diet and exercise. The surgery is not magic. It's still all about diet and exercise. I just now have the added benefit of portion control to help me long enough to develop healthy eating habits. And I am not the least bit ashamed of admitting to having the surgery or the fact that the age old method of diet and exercise is still what is responsible for my weight loss.

Scared to death.....
I think you need to fill that glass a little more than half way so you can lean toward the side of " the glass half full". You're just putting way too much negative thought into this. Fear of the unknown is the biggest factor in being scared. Read as much as you can about the surgery and the success stories on here. Go to a bariatric support group meeting and talk to those that have been trough it. If they can do it, you can too. And the rewards are life changing. Think about that. Keep asking questions and getting informed. You'll do fine.

How long til incisions heal?
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say......more than 3 days. If it hurts, take your pain pills until it doesn't. I'd say average healing time for the pain to subside, is about a week. But then again everybody's different. Well, now that I've provided absolutely no beneficial information.....you can carry on....

In sitting Pre-op hell....
Seashelles, on 06 Nov 2014 - 09:39, said: I even started to get depressed about how after surgery I will not be able to eat. one of my main problems is portion control. I am just depressed over the fact that I spent most of the first week cheating and now I have to try to make up for it. I just dont really know how... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Relax......you're doing a lot of worrying about yet unknowns......That is what fear is. You're having trouble with the preop now because it's cold turkey and there are no changes yet to help you make or stick with those drastic pre-op diet changes. Portion control is going to be handled by the sleeve. So that one is taken care of. And about "not being able to eat". You're the only one putting that idea in your head. After your sleeve heals, you will be able to eat pretty much whatever you want. Some tastes will change and you will develop new healthier eating habits.....but you will still be able to get all the satisfaction and enjoyment from the taste of the food as you do now. You needs will change with your lifestyle and you won't miss anything. OK, that solves those concerns....now perk up and stop creating issues where there are none...... Good luck

What size is your sleeve?
What size is your sleeve? Well.....last time I looked in there it seemed to be about a blah blah blah...... I have no idea. My Doc could tell me he used a Filipino 36-24-36 and I wouldn't know the difference or be able to do anything about it. Can I eat as much as before??? Hardly. Do I fill up quick?. Yep. Did it get rid of that "ghrenlin" hunger guy.....? For the most part, yes. Well then, I'm satisfied..... next question.

How to deal with fat friends
It's been my experience they are not gonna fit your new lifestyle. So unless they become interested in learning how you are acheiving your weight loss success.....and decide to make their own changes, your're going to have to look to new circles of friends. Not to say you abandon your besties. You just need to have people around you that empower you to maintain your new lifestyle.

New to support group
Try to use drinks that are high in Protein. ie: Isopure Zero carb - 20 oz. / 40 gm protein. Premier Protein shakes - 11 0z/ 30 gm protein. Also carry a Water bottle around everywhere and drink all day long every chance you get. Plus there's always get out and do some exercise.....walk, ride a bike, whatever.....it makes you more thirsty and you'll drink more.

Logging food after eating out
Relax, it's not like medicine dosages or anything. Just get it close. Guess the weight, light, dark, skinless, no creamy dressings etc etc. A few grams of seasoning is not gonna make a big difference. You're doing it right stayin away from the fried breading and the unhealthy sides. In this case, close is good enough.

Case Manager - did you have one?
Don't get me started on Coordinators. My Doc's usual coordinator went on vacation close to the end of my waiting period and another one took over. After many extra months of delays, tests having to be done over, numerous un-returned phone calls and lots of frustration.......she finally said everything was in order and submitted the paperwork. Two weeks later I got a call from the coordinator that had been on vacation (she was back) to tell me my application had been denied. After apologizing, she suggested that she redo the application and re-submit it again. - Two days later it was approved. Two weeks later I had my surgery. What's my point......I don't really have one....shit happens.......Just don't give up.....

Questions about Vitamins/Supplements
Like you, I also inquired on here and did some research about what to take to help prevent hair loss. The recommendations I gathered were to take Biotin. So, I have been taking 5000mcg daily, for several months and to tell you the truth, I can't tell if it has made any difference or not. I know I have lost some hair. Would I have lost as much it I didn't take it?? Maybe, maybe not. I feel it can't hurt, so what the heck. From what I read, the consensus was.....it will grow back when you stop losing so much weight and transition into a higher calorie maintenance diet. So hopefully, time will tell.

Case Manager - did you have one?
You, more than most have good reason to be frustrated with the idiotic reasoning for many of the required tests and the disorganized manner of scheduling. However, It's likely more about the insurance companies throwing in roadblocks to provide them with avenues to deny applications. The coordinators just routinely go along filling out and submitting the apps and you're probably better off just strictly complying as to not disrupt the process which could detail your chances of approval. Just smile and jump thru the hoops. The new skinny you is at the end of the tunnel.....

Gastric leak
Wow, you won't let this go. Of course a leak is serious. And typically the patient thinks everything is a leak.....especially the pain from gas. And I think the OP was asking "how far out is the risk of a leak" not if she has one??? Lighten up.....I was trying to ease her worry, not add to it...... If she thinks she has a leak, it's a question for her surgeon, not anyone on here.

Sneezing
Yeah.....sneezing, runny nose, hiccups......all kinds of anomalies.. They can provide a benefit of signaling you're getting full....so not all bad.
