Texas Sleevers!
Isn't it "wocks-ah-hatch-ee"? If you pronounce the first syllable where it sounds like "whacks" people in that town lose their minds

Bacon, Egg, and Cheese mmmmm
Five-months out - 1/4 of a bacon cheeseburger (no bun) and 2 onion rings. Enough leftovers for 3 more meals.

Over 400Lbs Gastric Sleeve Success Story
Persistence. Better advice to give you than telling you how to lose large amounts of weight is to have realistic expectations from the jump. For example, yes, you're actually going to gain weight in the hospital and yes it will come off within a week or so. Also, a stall is not when you haven't lost weight in two days. If you're going to be one of those psychos that insist on weighing yourself everyday then at least measure yourself everyday as well. If, in a six-week period, you've gained weight or not lost any and your measurements haven't moved, then you've stalled (my surgeon's advice, check with yours for the final word). Anything less than that is nothing to be concerned about.

Dallas mentor and/or buddies? Surgery: Jan 2014
That is a picture of the list here: http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/89017-dfw-area-weight-loss-surgery-support-groups-list/ which contains all the pages. Lots of opportunities in the DFW area to find sleeve buddies!

Dallas mentor and/or buddies? Surgery: Jan 2014
DFW is rich with support groups - the current list is here: http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/89017-dfw-area-weight-loss-surgery-support-groups-list/ Support groups are a great place to ask questions and find a buddy!

Looking for an unflavored protein powder that wont clump when added to soups. Any thoughts?
Stay away from Unjury unflavored - lots of issues with clumping even at lower temperatures. Recently I tried an unflavored from GNC and as long as you blend it like it says in then instructions, it's really good - it doesn't add any flavor but adds creaminess to whatever you put it in. I wanted to be sure it had no flavor so I mixed it with plain Water to try it an was surprised.

DFW TX Surgeon selection? (Dallas / Ft. Worth)
Nicholson is one of the big names in the DFW area. I want to throw my surgeon's name into the mix, Dr. Manuel Castro-Arreola at http://www.nbsurgical.com/. Many people I mention his name to are not familiar with him but the reason I went to him in the first place was on the recommendation of a coworker and his wife who both got sleeved by him. He is a soft-spoken man but very professional. His office staff are the nicest of any doctor's office staff I've ever met. I highly recommend you visit the website and attend one of his "meet the surgeon" seminars.

I gained weight after surgery?
That's normal. Within a week you'll see a huge drop in weight and it will (more slowly than that) start coming off.

Walking the treadmill
Well said, Sir! I too am a treadmill fan.

Nervous about slow weight loss
I'm going to tell you what one of my surgeons told me at my last visit. If in a 6-week period of time you have not lost any weight or have gained weight and your measurements aren't moving or are getting bigger THEN you can say you're having issues. Our weight fluctuates too much from day to day to declare failure any sooner than 6 weeks. I weight myself every day but only consider the Friday weigh-in the official one. My weight doesn't always do what I want it to but I can sure see it in how loosely my clothes fit.

Beef Jerky anyone?
"Non-offensive"?! I hear the kangaroo jerky is pretty obnoxious, but being Australian that's expected! Beef, buffalo, turkey - either would be a good place to start.

You can order from them : http://www.dallasjerky.com/

Beef Jerky anyone?
It's almost the perfect on-the-go snack. There's a beef jerky outlet store here I recently discovered that has beef, venison, alligator, elk, kangaroo - all kinds! The only downside to jerky is that it tends to be a little high in sodium.

Hot all the dang time!
What you're gonna notice after losing some weight is that you feel colder in places you were once comfortable.

Ethiopian?
Had Ethiopian for the first time this past Saturday - OH EM GEE!! I imagine it will be awhile until you're able to have it again as some of it has a bite to it.

After surgery, are you still hungry?
You seem to have nailed all of the points perfectly!

After surgery, are you still hungry?
If you hold steady and do your two-week pre-op liquid-only diet WITHOUT CHEATING you should not experience the same nasties after surgery that you did when you started the diet. On the fifth day of mine the headaches were gone, I felt good, and I got my energy back and it stayed this way even past surgery.

Soft diet recipe suggestions
Unless you have proof that artificial sweeteners make you gain weight what you've said is just your opinion. I've used artificial sweeteners of many types since surgery, does the weight loss in my ticker below look like I've gained any weight?

Private person
Tell them you're doing a modified Atkins plan (you got modified, what and how you're eating now is similar to Atkins).

Right out of surgery: how much walking is enough?
, Right now, this soon out from surgery, your two goals are to remain hydrated and get your protein in. If you can only do 5 minutes of walking, just do 5 minutes every day. Try to do a couple of these a day. Worry about walking longer/faster after you feel stronger again.
