Oh, my, I've been going crazy without this board!
I thought it was my problem on this end. I guess I'm addicted as well.

Another small NSV (can be so BIG!)
Great job, congratulations!

Alli diet pills
I did take xenical for awhile and I didn't lose wt. I maintained my wt. and then gained it back, when I could no longer justify the expense. I had lots of "accidents" with this medication. Believe me the fat just runs through. It is awful. I don't recommend it to anyone. It will not modify your behaviour at all. I found that I would justify my poor choices by thinking that the fat in the food I ate will not be absorbed, so it doesn't matter if I eat this. Give it a try if you like, just take extra clothes with you and be very very careful about what you eat. It is a great medication for people with chronic constipation!

Wear a swimsuit?
Good advice Kat. When I am on vacation I do wear a bathing suit and tan and enjoy the pool. I paid alot of money for the holiday, so I am going to enjoy it. I always feel self conscious a bit but I still do it anyway. I will when the weight comes off as well even with my thigh skin wrinkling down to my knees.

Keeping it a secret?
I am basically a very private person. I told my 3 children and my husband. I did end up telling my brother and sister in law because they were over for Thanksgiving (Canadian) and I just had my surgery on the Friday. Other then that I'm not telling anyone else and I asked all of them to not tell anyone either. (my docs know of course)

Milestones???
My milestone is not being hungry. Finally I am getting used to it. I really went thru a time of thinking that I regret this surgery, how can I eat such small portions and have quality of life. But now that I am allowed to add normal food to the diet, I realize that I can still taste and enjoy everything, just small amounts chewed well. I am not mourning the lost food anymore. I can still go to a restaurant and enjoy the taste of my meal and then bring most of it home so I can enjoy it again (and again and again ...) Anyway, what freedom!

Scale or no scale
I try to only weigh myself on Monday mornings. I have gotten on the scale in between but it is a downer. The scale moves up and down daily. I find that the weekly weigh-in is better for me not to get discouraged. I look for other signs such as how my clothes are fitting and the reflexion in the mirror.

My first fill . . .
I am 4 weeks banded today and I still can't imagine getting a fill yet. Still rarely hungry and fill up fast. I don't have any fluid in my band at all, it was all taking out one week post op. I don't think I'll bother making an apt for awhile. I keep expecting the hunger beast to rise up and grab me.

My first fill . . .
How do you feel? Does it feel like just after surgery, no appetite, hard to get fluids down etc.?
-
I guess this is Bandster @*&%
I haven't made an apt. for a fill yet. After being too tight after surgery, I am afraid of a fill. Rarely hungry yet, so I'll coast as long as possible. I'm wondering if the hunger beast is ready to pounce any day now?

Where is your goal weight?
I picked 130 because of my age and bone structure. I am not a big boned person and probably if I was younger I would have picked 115. I just don't think now at 49, I would look healthy that slim. If I am happy at 135 or 140 I will readjust my goal. I'm 5'3" so I think at 150 I would still be to heavy.

How many calories?
Today, I have had my first hunger feeling. I suppose I am healing more now and should start to eat more. I hate the soft feeling of being full that I get and when I feel that way I cannot eat anymore. The coughing and congestion and runny nose that I get persists for awhile afterwards. I am getting in 700-900 calories now but I feel good except for the head hunger. I want to eat more, restaurant eating is a nightmare. Not much choice at this stage.

Let's get to know the TENS...come on you know you wanna!
Hi: wow all the nurses. I am a registered nurse as well, for 27 years now. My specialty is long term care and I am no longer in clinical practice. I am a consultant and loving it!!!! I was getting burned out, but now I look forward to going to work. I have been married for 27 years but thats another story. I have a 22 year old daughter, 20 year old who is expecting my first grandchild in April and a 17 year old son. No animals anymore but if I didn't travel so much, I would have a golden retriever. I just love them. I am taking horse back riding lessons and hope someday to have one.

Where are you noticing it?
I am noticing it in my clothes now. They are okay just out of the dryer but after a couple of hours I look all droopy. My face and chest and neck is the first place I loose.

I guess this is Bandster @*&%
It's been 23 days since my surgery and still not hungry yet. It took quite awhile for the "fist" in my chest to go away, but when I eat more then 1/2 cup I start to cough and get a sl runny nose. I don't like that feeling at all and it is my signal that I have eaten too fast and/or I'm done. (how can you eat 1/2 cup of food slow?) I am worried that I am not getting enough calories. I feel like I am losing too fast.

How many calories?
ibarra: what date where you banded on?
-
How many calories?
I was wondering how many calories people are getting in at this point. I have been banded for 3 weeks today (Oct. 5) and I am getting in between 700-900 calories per day. I eat only about 1/4 cup at a time and still am not hungry. How is everyone else doing?

JulieNYC's Lateral Thigh Lift and Brachioplasty
Hi Julie: best wishes to you through all this. I will be watching closely because these are the type of surgeries that I will most likely be needing. I don't think I will need a tt because most of my excess weight has always been below the waist, although in the last few years I have been carrying weight all over. I already have loose skin on my thighs and arms even before the band. I need the inner thighs done, I dread the thought of that surgery. I hear it is very painfull. Was it a hard decision to make? At my age I wonder if much excess skin will reabsorb.

Scarring question.
Ghost: great tip, I am going out to buy some tonight. I had bought a silicon scar ung but I think I will add the vit e massage to the plan as well.

Joining in
Welcome, I was banded on the 5th as well, how are things going?

Gaining weight??!!! WHAT?!?!
Its best not to get too worried about it. I find that I can weigh myself 3minutes apart and get a different wt. Why? Who knows? It is just best to weigh on the same scale- just once a week. We also fluctuate 2-4 lbs of fluid as well.
-
Are there any people in London Ontario who have been banded.
Sheila: I hope you get to sweet soon. I am worried about getting fills. I had 4.2cc in during the surgery and had to have it removed on day 7 after my surgery. What a relief, it was not good being too full. I know that is frustrating getting to Mississauga but going slow is better. I will not be very aggressive with my fills, I don't want another week like that again. Coffee/support group sounds great.

Noticing self more?
I really notice my face thinning. I think all the weight I have lost so far is all from my face. Nothing left to fill out my wrinkles and under my chin is getting wrinkly as well. I guess a face lift is in my future (and my arms and my legs and my stomach and my breasts.... all lifted as well)

Goals!
I don't have a dog anymore. She passed 3 years now. But a dog would certainly make you walk. If I didn't travel so much, I'd love another. Golden retrievers are the dogs for me!

Intimacy
Shine: thats great that you are able to show so much affection to each other. Diane: it would be great if you and your H can get away. Is he open to that do you think?
