raw organic protein powder
has anyone tried the Garden of Life raw organic protein powder? it says it is a complete protein and has no soy or whey in it. i want to try it, but wondered if anyone could tell me if it is as flavorless as it claims. that's what i want-no gross taste like the whey products.

What did or are you going to do to celebrate this live changing event?
when i got divorced in january, the first thing i did was go get a tattoo, lol it is a phoenix on my left lower arm. it symbolizes the new me rising out of the ashes of my marriage. i rub it whenever i need a little encouragement. just looking at it makes me happy. i also have a dolphin on my left upper arm with my son's name on it. i don't know what i'll do to commemorate my weight loss, hmmmmm i'll have to put some thought into it.

I miss my vodka!
i just went to my first support group meeting last night (my surgery is June 11) and we went around the room and everyone got to ask a question. mine was "how soon can i have my whiskey and what kind of effects will i be looking at?" out of the 8 post-op people, 5 of them had tried alcohol. most said one or two drinks were fine, but the felt the effects WAY SOONER then they used to. the nurse there said once your stomach heals (3 months), you can have alcohol in moderation, but watch what you mix with it. my go to is a 7/7-i love them. but since we can't drink pop (which i cut out 3 months ago) i might have to mix it with some sour mix and have a whiskey sour. i don't want to get drunk, i just want to have a drink once in a while when i'm out with friends. so just remember, moderation is key!

New to the group, my introduction
hi everybody! i'm jackie and i'm in midland, michigan. my doctor is Dr. Cudjoe and my surgery is in alma on June 11th. i am so excited for this. when i decided to start this process in late january, i weighed 398. holy crap, right! i have changed my diet, stopped drinking pop and eat many, many, vegetables and i now weigh 379! yeah 19 lbs gone! my goal weight is 180, but i seriously will be happy with 250 realistically. i can't wait to be able to go places again and walk around and have fun. i am way to young to be this immobilized and cut off from the world. i hope by next summer to be able to take my son to michigan's adventure water park. so, everyone feel free to friend me on here and on facebook, i am almost always on facebook and i have a page too, it's https://www.facebook.com/WhiskeyBottlesAndCatFoodCans. i can't wait to get to know everyone. have a great day all! jackie sue redmond

the story of my journey pt. 1
hi everyone! i'm jackie. just a little back story- i went to a seminar on jan. 24 and decided to have the surgery. went to the the doctor on jan. 25 and weighed 398 lbs. she made the referral to the gastric surgeon and i was on my way! went to doctor for a weigh-in on feb. 22 and weighed 390 lbs. yesterday, i had my first consultation with the surgeon and i'm down to 384 lbs. yeah! 15 lbs in 2 months on my own! i liked the surgeon and he answered my questions and then i met with 2 different nurses and they were really helpful. i found out that my insurance will cover the surgery. yeah! i have three things to do pre-op. i have an endoscopy scheduled in early april and then i have to see a cardiologist for an ekg and stress test and see a psychiatrist for a consultation. i should have all of these done by some time in may. when i asked the nurse about how long it would be until my surgery, she said three months or less. omg! cannot believe it will be that soon. so i'm thinking some time in late june. i'm so excited! jackie
