  1. I have the same problem. I have been experimenting with different kinds of vegan protein powders to see which ones I like. I havent found "the one" yet, still trying to find one that is not sweet flavored.

  10. I was told by the doctor that the sleeve does have more pressure because it fills up volumn wise more than a normal large stomach would on a regular basis. Imagine the fullest you have ever been in your life that is what he described it to be like normally after the sleeve.
  11. Thank you! Go Juners! Manometry is where the put a thin tube down your esophagus to read the pressures where your stomach meets it to make sure the valve there is strong. I guess some people have a weak valve that doesnt stand up to the pressure of the sleeve and it causes intense acid that cant be stopped. My doctor just does it as a precaution since he had one person that it was so bad he had to convert her to bypass.
  12. Got my date finally. June 5th! Wahoo.
  13. I just found out today that the first available surgery date was June 5th so u may want to find out how far out the surgeries are being scheduled. I was originally told 4-5 weeks.

  15. I finally got the results of the Manometry test this morning and scheduled my date. Dr Jawad only does sleeves on wednesdays and the earliest that I can get scheduled is June 5th! I am excited and disappointed at the same time.
  16. Ladylaura, how did you do going back to work with your mental acuity?
  17. Medium chain fatty acids (coconut and palm fruit oils) from the diet are required to "activate" ghrelin so it can interact with its receptor GHS-R1a I believe it is called. This receptor then turns on the release of growth hormone which is responsible for a lot of things such as bone mineral density, memory and learning as well as many other things. The thing is that I found so cool about the science behing Ghrelin is that we really don't know much about it. One thing we do know is that 90% of the ghrelin in circulation of a average adult is not "activated" and can never interact with the growth hormone recptor. So if you get enough medium chain fatty acids in your diet you can increase that 10% "activated" number easily because the normal western diet is dreadfully low in these MCFA. Medium chain fatty acids examples are coconut oil and palm fruit oil. It is fatty acids that have between 8 and 12 carbons in its chain, that is what makes them medium instead of short or long chained.
  18. Great video. That answers that question.
  19. Just be careful with cross addiction. It is easy to slip into that rut, I hear, once food can no longer be our "drug of choice".
