    Has my band slipped again?

Hi. I've had my band for over a year now and about 4 months ago I had my band slip due to travel, stress and constant throwing up in a span of 2 weeks. anyway, that has been taken care of and i haven't had any problems until I travels about 2 weeks ago. I've been throwing up off and on, trying to just eat Soup, but today I've started throwing up bile like i did when my band had moved. Should i call my doctor or go to the emergency room? or see if it improves? Thanks for your help.

    LB is pissing me off

They're not going to care. Before 2001, when the limited corporation owned LB it was much different. They had better quality clothes, took more pride in the store's appearance and paid/treated the employess better. Since Charming Shops bought LB (they own fashion bug and catherine's) it is all about how much money they make. Also, they aren't going to care if a few people decide not to shop there any more, more and more the population of women are getting heavier and there are always going to be more women shopping and buying their clothes.

    Psych Visit Questions??

My psych visit went well, she basically wanted to know my reasons for getting the band and that I had realistic expectations of what was to come.

I was banded at NWWLS on April 30th by Dr. Michaelson and a friend of mine was banded by him in January.

    Does insurance cover fills?

Make sure you check to see if any fills are included in the original price. My doctor charges more for the surgery than other places around, but I can have an unlimited number of fills my first year at no cost to me or my insurance.

    Shoulder pain ! HELP !!

At the clinic where I got my band almost everyone that works there has had the band. The girl I talked to for my pre-op gave me some helpful hints (she's had the band for 2 years). She told me that the shoulder pain is actually refered pain from your diaphram and suggested putting a heating pad on it. I actually found that if I put the heating pad on my stomach it seemed to help more than on the shoulder.

Help please, 2 days post op and worried!

The area where the bruise is, did you get a shot of blood thinner in that area? I received the shot in my lower stomach (not an area I check out all the time) and about 4 days after surgery I noticed I had a huge bruise! I asked my mom about it (she's a registered nurse and was with me when I went in for surgery) and she said that the blood thinner does leave you with a big bruise.

    LB is pissing me off

I used to work at an LB and was management for a long while. It seems like most of the complaints are about the service, not all of the Lane Bryants are like that. Out of all of the Lane Bryants in the district where I worked my store was the only one that did go an extra mile to help the customers. And as far as the advertising discrepancies, it has nothing to do with each individual store, it has to do with corporate. My best advice is to talk to a district manager or send an email to their website.

    Help Finding Cute Clothes...

Target also has some good things. I got the perfect black dress for $25. Another alternative is ebay. I used to work in the clothing biz and would sell my clothes on ebay all the time. Also, a lot of people do sell brand new with tags items there, not just used stuff.
  11. Hi, I'm Andrea. I just got banded, April 30th. My main motivation for getting this done was that my father passed away (at age 52) in September mostly due to his medical problems due to severe obesity. He had severe diabetes, high blood pressure and sleep apnea. Also, my mom has been obese for years and also has diabetes and high blood pressure. I am pretty healthy for my size and don't have any of those problems yet, but I know if I continue the path I was on I would end up the same way. So far I feel better about myself, I feel I look better and now I can walk further on my walks and not feel like I'm going to die from shortness of breathe. I have lost 11 pounds so far, but I can't help comparing myself to others. One of my friends got banded by the same doctor in January and lost 30 lbs the first month. Any suggestions or helpful hints? Thanks, Andrea

Medifast Shakes, etc. - NEED ADVICE

I did the medifast diet prior to surgery. I had the ready made shakes in the dutch chocolate. They are pretty gross, but i found that if I drank some medifast than drank some cryastal like right after it helped. Also, see if your doctor sells it for cost. My doctor did so they weren't really expensive. Andrea

How much did you lose before surgery?

I had 1 month to lose 10 lbs before surgery. My doctor told me to do the medifast diet, 5 medifast shakes a day and a 300 calorie meal. That combined with walking 30 mins a day helped me lose the weight before surgery. Good luck!!

2 weeks post op, haven't lost 1 single pound

I feel the same way!! It's been 3 weeks since I got banded and I haven't really lost anything. It's very comforting to be on this board and read that I'm not alone with this problem!! I have a friend who got banded by the same doctor and she lost 30 lbs in the first month!!!

anyone younger than 25 have surgery???????

I'm 25 and I just got it done April 30th. So far, I'm doing OK and learning to change my eating behaviors. I'm glad I did it at this age, when I went to the seminar all I saw were people my parents age with all sorts of medical problems related to obesity. I decided I didn't want to be like that and to get banded now and hopefully avoid most of those medical problems. Andrea

Anyone Banded Who is in thier 20's

I'm 25 and I got banded April 30th!! jfran- I did the Medifast diet, 5 medifast shakes a day and a 300 calorie meal. The medifast was gross (you get used to it after awhile), so I did a crystal light chaser after I drank the medifast. I lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks, the last 6 were in the final week. Just make sure you do some exercise too. Andrea

Did your Doc require a pre-op diet?

My doctor told me I had to lose 10 lbs before surgery. I had a month to do it before my surgery, but I was going to Vegas and there was no way I was going to be on a diet then! I ended up doing the Medifast diet for 2 weeks. 5 nasty Medifasts a day and a 300 calorie meal. I did lose the 10 lbs before surgery and to be honest after that I felt more optimistic about my diet after the surgery. I felt that if I could actually do something an extreme diet, that eating healthy wouldn't be as extreme as I originally thought.
  21. wadew1976, people may be saying these things because they are thinking more about the bypass than the band. I have a great aunt that got the bypass a few years ago and I know she is constantly having problems. Anyway, just remember that you are doing this for you, and I wish you good luck!
