  1. Everyone has their Own problems.... some people are more public and not very smart though. Maybe soon she will recognize her mistakes.
  2. Your body needs protein. If you don't get enough your muscles with atrophy. Your heart is ALSO a muscle you don't want that to loose muscle tissue do you? Try different protein shakes, eat soft cheeses, and most importantly talk to your Dr. ASAP
  3. ^ TOTALLY agree with VSGKirk. Don't add on stress to your already stressful new lifestyle. You are trying to heal and get used to eating and savoring each bite differently now.
  4. We are about the same weight! ok, well get off of the scale. NEVERMIND what it says. Anything could affect those numbers, clothes, aunt flo, Water retention, muscle building... Those numbers don't matter anymore. The numbers that matter are the ones at your Dr's and NUT's office which they record down. Just place a piece of masking tape on the number portion of the scale and write down your goal weight. Now every time you step on the scale you are forces to only see your goal weight and not get discouraged. You could bend over and peel off the tape but that is wrong and defeats the positive motivation of for your goal weight and stress reduction of your current weight. However, if this seems impossible to do measure your arms, chest, waist, hips, thighs, and neck. Record those numbers and the next time things have stalled or you gained remeasure yourself. Also, try eating some healthy fats like avocado they have been known to help with weight loss if you eat them at every meal during a stall.
  5. ^ HAHAHA. . It may be good though. Pickle juice has sodium and potassium in it which is supposed to help with any leg cramps, plus vinegar is excellent for our tummies and bodies.
  6. My puree stage includes soft foods. I was told but my NUT ( and it is written down) that I can have anything including meat that is tender, moist, and soft. I will admit that I had to break up the lamb meat into the sauce and let it sit for 5 minutes so that it could be a bit more moist All of these are acceptable and listed as options from my NUT's 50 page after surgery guidelines. I am about 4 weeks out and it sat really well too. No problems with pressure, gas, or pain. I just ate my meals over 45 minutes like I was told and I feel satisfied and full every time.
  7. When can/did you have any forms of Jerky? Beef, elk, turkey, tuna, deer.... I was advised that this is not the best thing to eat right now, but if I go on a hike I want to have some jerky with me.
  8. I am a very social eater. I love food... GOOD food. I love the company when I eat too. I missed my food friend when I was on the pre-op and post-op liquid phases. I could smell good food with friends and I wanted to partake but I stood strong and reminded myself that later one I could have this and that. You will eventually be able to eat what you want, but you will have to savor it a bit more and eat slower. Also, you will eat a lot less. Remember you can make food your friend again just not your lover.
  9. I thought about this before surgery. By the time I am really old I figure that half of the population or more may have had some form of WLS (even newer procedures) and so medical science would have adjusted to this result. I mean think about it... the first form of WLS started back in 1950's. It didn't begin picking up until the 90's. Now, it is talked about on a hush-hush level like plastic surgery used to be. In 10- 20 years it will be no big deal.
  10. Pickle flavored Ice pops...interesting isn't it? http://www.bobspicklepops.com/
  11. WOW! Well, people like that never really learn anything about themself. I am so sorry that you are irritated by her actions. Why exactly are your upset at what another person is doing? You can't really control anyone's actions but your own. I agree in that I would be upset too, but I would shake my head and vow to not be like that person. I would probably stop talking to someone like that. Have you sat down with her and actually confronted her about how it makes you feel more so than how you think her new job is a scam?
  12. haha thanks! All the shakes mentioned above have 0 carbs
  13. about 800. for Breakfast I had 2 scrambled eggs and 2 oz of spam for lunch I had 5 ozcreamed tomato Soup and 2 oz cheese for snack I had an 8 oz Protein shake with milk for dinner I had 4 oz of stewed lamb (Osso Bucco) with 1 Tbsp of saffron risotto. In between all of this I had ice pops, coconut Water, juice, and crystal lite.
  14. Ya know I am completely the opposite. I tried those even though I have a sensitivity to food coloring and boy was I ill. Even the crystal lite fruit punch made me sick... Strangely enough the crystal lite lemonade is good and the gatorade frost or glacier cherry is good too.
  15. TRUST ME, we ALL have been there. In fact my Dr. said the upper part of my stomach was grotesquely larger than the rest of my stomach. Thanks to my sliding hiatal hernia I now know what lap band felt like. I was starving all the time and ironically constantly eating all the time. to help you out during this phase..you need to up your Protein in your shakes. Are you taking 2 a day and then a dinner? If so, you can do what I did and that was drink a 6 oz one for Breakfast. 2 hours late have another 6 oz shake, do the same for lunch, and eat a small salad that is the size of your palm. Spacing out the shakes really helped me stay full. Also I got a bunch of different flavors to break up the monotony of 1 flavor. SOMETIMES I would add in more shake powder for added protein and to thicken it up. Other times I would add half greek yogurt to half milk. Even after surgery I still have hunger it just isn't as bad and I can control the hunger a bit more. Good old pancreas stimulating my grehlin.
  16. paxil is so small that I don't think you really need to crush it or have it in liquid. Other pills that are larger should be crushed up. You could cut it in half as a precaution, but to be safe just ask your Dr.
  17. Your pancreas can stimulate grehlin too!. I bet you didn't know that. Some of us do experience real hunger but it isn't as intense as it used to be. Good for you for being in control
  18. Well, a lot of us mess up. However, the pre op diet is designed to make sure your liver shrinks, AND it begins the mental test to determine if you can handle the liquid phases of the diet post op. You CAN NOT turn back post op, otherwise you could be putting yourself in real danger. When you write that you are failing... what is going on exactly? Are you drinking good quality Protein? Are you having ENOUGH protein and Water? Is your craving taking over... what is your craving?
  19. HAHAHA LMAO.... the key is don't be pushy, make her well informed
  20. It is a miracle to me.... I mean with living with PCOS, it was a miracle that the scale moved even half a lb. I am TOTALLY happy with any results I get.
  21. Don't try to talk her out of her decision. That is like others talking you out of your choice. Support her and her decisions. that is what a friend does. If she does all of her research, she will naturally go to the option that she feels is best. She will also see the high incidence of lap band/realize band reversals.

  23. ^ my meltdown was more like rage of fire. I had NO IDEA what was going on. I take nexium 2x a day. I have to open the capsule in a medicine cup. put some liquid in my mouth and down it. 15ml is not a lot of water that is like 1 Tbsp. Try doing it with the liquid first and then toss the powder into your mouth. You can always drink a little more afterwards. Try it a few times and see if this helps. If that doesn't work ask your Dr. if you can have some else that doesn't taste so bad.
  24. Well, we aren't dr.'s We are sympathizing with you and your struggles. Many of us go through what you are going through. In fact, I if your read this thread my experiences were similar. On your discharge papers does it have instructions on what to do if you have a fever? If you are still having a fever and feel ill call your Dr. It isn't normal for anyone to have a fever for as long as you have unless you are sick or have an infection.
  25. it might be better to do a search for it in the general forums.
