  1. As I was completing (for the first time post op) 1.5 km in the pool today I was wondering who swims for exercise? How much do you do? How often? Do you combine with other cardio? resistance training? Swimming has been working great for me - just curious to hear from others
  2. I was sleeved 1/15. Week 5 for me I lost like 1.5 lbs while drinking a ton of Water and lots of cardio. Went for 4 days on vacation with family where couldnt weigh etc - and while still followed good eating - had a bite or two of things I liked etc. Came back 7 lbs down The ups and downs are maddinging!
  3. Took a last minute trip with the kids last week to Disneyworld for 4 days. It is also as I started normal food. Was kinda nervous if I'd lose or gain .... drum roll ... Down 7 lbs in 5 days as of this AM!! Lots of walking and while I was eating normal food - the quantities were super small. went to a Pirate show with beef tenderloin (6oz) and could barely eat a 1/3rd Jyst wanted to share the god news!
  4. Dr Chahal. They dont rush you to solid foods. VEry well paced progression to help you. You need the right mental mind state but you will be happy
  5. I was sleeved Jan 16 at Newton Wellesly. excellent all the way. they are known as conservative but if you study complications after they are setting the standard
  6. Very inspiring all! I am closer to beginning of journey but at 5 weeks post op happy here
  7. Good point. Was curious more carbs would end the ketosis - thus an influx of Water Have to admit after starting Thyroid medicine a week ago, the Calcium, Iron and B12 my energy has been thru the roof till about 6pm.
  8. Hi fellow Jan alumni! At week 5 today. Last week only 2.7 lbs but these pics are nice
  9. I posted on another thread my low level due to scale moving up today, so to look for inspiration I went to look at a pic I took the week before surgery. While scale didnt move this week - happy with the pics.
  10. great thank you all I am hoping this adjustment is the combo of Water in muscles, adjust to solid foods etc. Assume this adjustment will end and start trendign down
  11. Thanks - again all logical comments that make sense, but hard to get up at 5:30 to swim knowing your weight is increasing. Today taking the morning off ...
  12. Thank you I had actually bumped from the 550 to 900 which is kinda like double. Also As with solid food while carbs still low, they are up. Could be I am less in ketosis which I know brings in more Water?
  13. What a banner for today. Now I know I know dont weigh daily, your body is changing - all correct logic, but in the past week I have lost 2.7 lbs, actually gaining on 2 occasions. This is with religiously 45 mins swimming daily, cals between 650 and 900, and 2 to 4 L Water daily. Only logical thing I can think of is now back on solid foods combined with the Calcium, Iron!!, Thyroid etc that my body is finding a new equilibrium. In short while still down a lot, I could have made same progress on WW. Anyone else see a plateau or shreek gain when starting solid foods. PS Please dont mention inches - I have looked there too Many thanks
  14. Thx all. Day is kinda like this (now) Wake, Water and pills Swim 45 mins Egg whites scrambled with a bit salsa low fat cheese stick snack (2) in the day lunch Protein Soup (Protidiet chicken and some cottage cheese) dinner 2 oz or so meat (luncheon, meatball, etc), some steamed veggies snack - pudding or tblespoon Peanut Butter and 1/4 banana I also drink 2-3 L water (crystal light) a day and 2 8oz bottles of Isopure in the drink to keep protein up good luck
  15. 1 month out today from under the knife! Overall very happy with month 1 - 35lbs down post op. Had dreamed it would come off quicker, but given I lost 40 preop a slowdown was a bit expect. So nice to be down 75 from Oct 7, 2012 and 58 since first doc consult Nov 15. Did my diet advancement (my surgery center is very conservative but great reputation for minimal complications). No vomiting and only discomfort was eating too fast. Getting 60 - 90 g Protein a day, but was averaging under 600 cals. Burning 700 a day swimming so I know I need to up to between 900 and 1100 but I dont know how as it seems I am already just eating or drinking all the time. Thank you all for help along the way!! Off to goal 2! Kevin
  16. thanks to all for the kind words - best of luck on your journey
  17. thank you my issue is Im not really fond of my NUT. she said "dont worry" - which really isnt helpful. I understand that each person is different. I am swinning 1 hr a day 7 days a week and weights 3 days a week. Just looking for trends and will use as input
  18. wow congrats! you look great Was all loss post op or some pre? Any special tips to share?
  19. Had my 1 month follow up today, and am getting back on solid foods. I had bee averaging 450 - 600 cals a day. The NUT said dont worry re Cals just get 60-80 gr Protein, but I know that with too few cals your body feels starved. Nurse said with my activity I should have between 800 - 1100. So, in month 2 out from those who have been there - how many cals a day and gr protein do you average to keep the scales declining optimized?
  20. Thrilled this AM as I stepped on the scale and was 299.4! Oct 7 last year was my 42 birthday. I knew I was dying slowly and that I would see 400 before 200 ... Nov 15 I went for my first doc appt at 356, Jan 16 was surgery and I was 333. And today I am in the 200s yippee!! Still a few days short of a month out and over 33 lbs down post op. Also got my diet advancement today so slowly back to solid foods over next 12 days Good day indeed thank you all for the inspiration Kevin
  21. acting nurse - I am 24 days out and 29 lbs down from admission weight. I have been averaging about 500 cals a day and am losing about 0.7 lbs a day. Do you think I should up my Cals? My doc had a pretty bland and prescriptive diet for first 4 weeks but back in this week for advancement to blended foods. When you upped yours what did you see progress wise daily?
  22. Drinking 80-100 oz a day. I have a CPAP, and it is humidified, but I am waking up about 8 times a night with the dryest mouth. Nee a few sprays of Biotene then back to sleep. Anyone have this and when does it go away?
