well in a way yes but it is painfully slow and you give up and end up gaining all the weight back again i did i cant remember how many times!!1 For me the lapband has been great as i have coontinued to loose weight and not gain it back again. I do disagree with your doctor ask another for more advice but i do disagree really as it has worked for me how ever much slower than alot of other people here: A personal struggle made easier with the lap band as a very helpful tool that you need to be dedicated to as a rule i never spend any money on any thing i am not going to get value out of and i definaltely have got value for money here best of luck

hi I was banded June of 2007 and i can say today the weight loss has been very slow but the key words are (weight loss): the way i see it it may be slow but at least it is coming off: I to have PCOS and Endo i have had a hystorectomy and do not have any ovaries either: Keep on keeping on all of you, as the weight took a life time to get there it willl take a while to come off: slow and steady wins the race

Hi I have had a hystorectomy, and in two separate operations i have also had my ovaries removed not because it was recomended but because it was nessesary, i had vary large cysts on the 12cm by 12cm, i also have pcos and i am lap banded and at the monent i am feeling very frustrated as my weight has come to a grinding halt, i seem to have hit a plateau i have metformin in my cupboeard so i think i will weigh my self and start taking it as see how this might help, So in answer to your question a hystorectomy and ovaries removed I am 33 does not end the pcos ( insulin resistance) ho ever i am on HRT patches now to give me estrogen I hope this helps Ange

hi All i was banded on the 29th june 2007 abd my weight has come to a grinding halt, how ever i may be a little different to you all as i no longer have any ovaries, and uterus, I had surgery 2 years ago to remove one ovary that had a 12 cm by 12 cm cyst on it and the ovary and my uterus as it was fused to my bowel, I too was on metformin to help with weight loss, then i had my lap band surgery and the lap band surgeon gave me a picture of my other ovary with a huge cyst on it as well, so 2 months after lap band i had more surgery, the cyst larger than the first one so hence the other ovary could not be saved either, i now have no ovaries or uterus and have to be on HRt for 20 years at least, and still need to in a few months time have a bowel test (colonoscopy to check my bowel health,) My question for you all is since you have has your lap band surgery do you still take metformin??? I thought we were unable to still take it ??? due to the pill getting stuck? oh i have two wonderful children who asre 7 and 9 i am very lucky Please help ? Ange New Zealand :blushing:

Hi I totally agree with all the statements here. I was banded in NZ on the 29th june and as yet I have not had a fill it feels like i dont have a band at all!!! i hope all is ok. the doctors in NZ are very cautious about doing any fills to early they want to wait for scar tissue to for properly aount the band. they have had success and nil slippages.

hi all I was banded on the 29th june so I am six days out now. I was feeling great and now i also have hit a brick wall. brick in my chest and feel terrible bloated stomach. I hope I am normal. I have a post op appointment in 3.30 friday so I hope all is ok.

is this what i should be experiencing? 6 days out from being banded??? I need to know if this is Normal ?? please help. I am drinking lots Ange

hey i am sorry this might sound gross!!! could you be constipated? as the liquid diet comes out as liquid and nothing going in that is solid so nothing to come out as solid? I am interseted in what you surgeon has to say?

hi All Can any one tell me how common Band Slippage is, that is the part that really concerns me as My husband and I are extending our mortgage to have this operation and how ever will we afford the cost again if the band slips??? does it slip because the bander is eatingt the wrong foods? does any one know??? and can advise me??? And excited but apprehensive June 29 Bandster

Hi thanks mikey 1969, I am so glad I found this forum before i have surgery, it is so helpful just talking to poeple that have been through this, The best support is poeple who have walked in the over weight shoe and can really understand, I to have a ver skinny husband but a very supportive husband, I have not explained this to the children as yet. I will need to tell them as I will not be eating the same food as them for a while. has any one else got children mine are 5 and 7.
