    HOW to exercise?

When I started my doc told me cardio cardio cardio...it burns the fat to allow for the muscle growth. I started with small time ont he elliptical and worked up to 30 mins after about 2 or 3 weeks. Now I am at 55 mins ont he elliptical and I do a Tae Bo video on days between. My NUT has a special scale that measure body fat and muscle mass and I have lost 35 lbs of fat and gained 1 lb of muscle. NO weights yet, but elliptical and Tae Bo (which gives a little resistance training). I think weights will help with loose skin, but you have to burn the fat to replace it with muscle so that is why cardio is so important. Some gyms offer a personal trainer for like the 1st visit or something. Maybe you could talk to them about how to get started. If you do a lot of weights at 1st you will build muscle but there will be fat on top of it....that doesn't sound pretty. I was sleeved 4/15/13 and down 56 lbs since surgery. Good luck!

    Workout videos

Hey there! I wouldn't go out and buy the video until you have tried it and know you will like it and can do it. I haven't done either of those workouts but know people who have and they are pretty intense. I know you can go on YouTube and look up the Insanity video and you can watch and do the entire video...so you may not need to buy it at all. I do my elliptical I have at home every other day and on my inbetween days I do Tae Bo videos. I like Tae Bo because it is cardio with a little strenght training in it. But a lot of cardio. You can also YouTube Tae Bo Cardio and pull up tons of videos to look through and see if you like them. Any exercise is good, so just pick the one that is right for you!
  3. I sent emails out to all the people on the list and Bellplantation.com wrote me back saying that they do not have samples to provide but I could go to a store that sells their products and purchase one item, or ask them for samples. Also...Freelean1.com and wheynaturalus.com gives free samples, but they charge for shipping. Freelean1 is $1.52 and wheynaturalusa.com is $2.50.

    Sleeved april 8th

I was sleeved on 4/15 and have lost 43 lbs since surgery (55 totoal from pre op). I am happy with my loss but can't help but compare myself too. It is hard not to do it...I also find myself chained to the scale. I am trying to stop that. I eat on average about 800 calories a day and no less than 60 gr of protein...all through food. I don't even use the shakes anymore unless I know I might not be somewhere I can eat real food. I am exercising 5 days a week for 40 mins a day...and I honestly think that the inches are coming off instead of actual lbs. I am down almost 2 pant sizes and that is HUGE in 3 months. People are also starting to ask me what I am doing so I know people are seeing it. I have a hard time seeing b/c I see myself in the mirror and know the number on the scale. LOL I am scared of having tons of loose skin so I think I am ok with the slow weight loss b/c feel like this will help with any loose skin I will have. Stalls are hard which is why I am trying not to be a slave to the scale...no matter how hard I want to. I didn't weigh this morning and I wanted to sooo bad. LOL

    Any April 10th Sleeves ?

Hey I was sleeved 4/15/13 and am down 43 lbs as of today. Total w/ 2 week pre op 55 lbs lost. Pretty excited. I have only told a few people that I had the surgery other than family. I didn't want to get that look either. I see my nutritionist next week. I am curious if I am eating too much/too little. I feel like the weight is coming off slow or something. I think I am getting in all the protein without having to use shakes...and nothing really upsets my stomach. I kinda expected to have a hard time with certain foods but so far everything I have tried I can eat. Wonder if that is normal...

    April 2013 Sleevers!

Hey! I was sleeved 4/15/13 and am doen 43 lbs. I also feel like it has come off kinda slow but I am ok with that b/c I feel like it is healtier for my body. I have been on an exercise routine since about 5 weeks out. I have been doing the elliptical 5 days a week and just started workingi n tae Bo 2 days a week. I think I am starting to see the inches coming off instead of the actual weight...must be from the exercise. I really miss drinking a nice cold glass of milk...the only thing that has bothered my tummy is milk. Weird.
  8. I live in Lexington and work in Grensboro. Sleeved 4/15/2013. Down 43lbs since surgery. How are you doing?
  9. Sleeved 4/15 and down 21lbs. I am in a stall for last week. I am working my way back up on my elliptical. Currently at 15 mins on the elliptical and a short walk with my daughter.

How do I know I'm hungry?

I am 4 weeks out now...and I was the same way. I am still not ever "hungry" but I eat because it is lunch/dinner time. I asked my Dr about it and he said that it is usually temporary and my hunger will eventually return but not in the way it was before. I know for me I didn't feel the restriction until I started eating more solid foods. Now sometimes I know I have waited to long to eat because I will get a little heartburn...and I know I am done eating when I start burping or hiccuping. I measure all my food so I can't really "overeat" but when I start to burp or hiccup I stop...usually within a few minutes I get this full feeling. It kinda feels like you are full all the way up in my throat. You will know when to stop when you start eating real foods. =) Hope that helps!!

resuming mom duties after sleeve ?

Hey! I am not a stay at home mom, but have a very active 4 year old. I had a few rough days in the hospital after the surgery and I didn't let my daughter come to the hospital. I had my surgery on Monday 4/15 and went home Thursday the same week. I can't pick her up and carry her, but by 1 week out I could get up and do the dishes and do the laundry. My daughter LOVES to help with laundry so I had her push the basket full of clothes back and forth so I didn't have to carry it. It was only really hard for the 1st week. I stopped taking the pain meds pretty much byt Saturday after the surgery and only used them at bedtime if I was sore. I am completely off the pain meds now. The hardest part was not seeing her for 3 days while I was in the hospital. Don't over do it...if I bend over a lot now to "pick up" I get sore...everyone's different so just go back into it slow and take breaks. I am sure you kids will love sitting and watching tv with you or reading a book with you. =) Good Luck!

    Pinterest accounts with recipes

Thanks for the link! I am pinning like crazy for when I can eat real food again!
  14. So I had sleeve on 4/15/13...11 days post op. I feel bad b/c my NUT said to eat clear/full liquids until I see her again (4/30/13). When my Dr. discharged me he said a week liquids...a week puree...a week of soft foods...and then slowly work up to regular foods by the time he sees me again (5/7/13). I was kinda unsure which to follow but since they put so much emphasis on the NUT I have tried to follow her orders. It has been SOOOOOO hard. I have pretty much followed her orders except this Tues I started to puree some soups and eating those once a day....well then it got to 2 times a day. And then today I couldn't take it....I ate spaghetti os for dinner. I chewed chewed chewed...and it stayed down just fine. No tummy toubles...but I feel bad. Like maybe I am moving too fast. I know every dr. has different guidelines but why do I feel bad when the my Dr. encouraged this. LOL It felt SOOOOO good to actually eat something with substance. I know spagetti os probably werent the best thing...but it is what my 4 year old was eating....anyone else with me?? I just can't do liquids anymore!!!! UGH

I feel quilty not listening to NUT

Yeah I know cheating is bad...i mean cheating on diets is what got me here. It is soooo hard though. And with the mis information from NUT and Dr. I feel like I am cheating because the NUT hasn't moved my diet ahead, but my Dr acted like it was no big deal. I am going to hold out on anything else until I see the NUT on tues. Its funny because I thought I would want bad stuff for me...but I really want meat. I want some chicken...turkey...beef. Anything. I would pass up any cake, pie, or pastry for a big slab of meat. LOL

I feel quilty not listening to NUT

nope...i mean i don't really know. Im not really hungr...ever... but it is dinner time and we all sit down at the table. I don't eat a lot of soup at one time but I think it is because I don't want much. I read somewhere if you feel the urge to burp or start burping that is a sign of fullness. So I have kinda used that and it seems to work. I also think the restriction comes more when we eat solid food. I don't want to move too fast, but there are only so many liquids I can take....and the questions from my 4 year old about my "special" dinner is getting old. LOL
  17. I am working on scheduling my surgery and my doctor mentioned that if you have heartburn before having the sleeve procedure then it could sometimes worsen to the extent that medication can't control it and the only solution would be a bypass. I am not thrilled about possibly having a bypass...but I will do what it takes. Has anyone on here had the sleeve surgery and had heartburn prior to surgery (on medication for it). And did the heartburn worsen and could you control it with meds? I am excited about the thought of finally losing the weight, but not really wanting to have another surgery in my future. Thanks!
