Cortisol and other things
High cortisol levels are indicative of Cushings. And Cushing's can cycle, as your tumor turns off and on.

Whiskers On Kittens
whiskers of my kitten? Well, that would include the smell of wet cedar, High thread count cotton sheets, fresh from the dryer, my son's wacky sense of humor, and the way my DH looks at me when I look at him.

Goals of all kinds
Well, I have abandoned all weight related goals. Hmm, right now my goal is to get throgh my mother's curent crisis with my sanity intact. Since I've never let my size or weight keep me from doing anything, I'll have to think about this.

fun thread: help me name my tumor
One of the ways that I deal with stress is through humor. I kno that many feel it in bad taste, or poor form to make fun, but this is how I deal. I once had a pointy-hair boss tell me she was goining to write me up for making fun of people with breathing problems. She was personally offended by all the Darth Vader breathing impressions and the canary-in-the-mine jokes. No, someting you have to understand, she was offended by me making fun of me. So there you go. For now, I think I'm out of my FREAK-OUT panic mode, and I'm ready to be me again, ready to reclaim my life again. So, as part of me being me, I thought I should name the tumor. I mean, we have 18 bazillion names for our fun bits, and while it isn't a fun bit perse, there is nothing in the brain tumor handbook that says I can't do this. So, let's hear those suggestions!

Fun thread: foreign languages
I just thought it would be fun to know how many people speak more than one language. The only foreign languages I know are programming ones, but I really want to learn German. I'm guessing that K@t is fluent in Portugese, and I know that we have several folks who speak Spanish like a native. We have Keerbara, but I'm ashamed to admit that I don't know what is the official language of Saudi, Farsi, I'm gonna guess... (don't know if I spelled Farsi right though) Anyone else?

My DH is T-Bone.
I'm pretty jazzed! My DH won't go and weigh himself, but he's been losing weight lately. His clothes are too big, and he showed off yesterday. His jacket, which was impossibly small at 5X when he started this journey is now rediculously large. I'm so happy!

What is wrong with me?
Oh JMoe (((((hugs))))) Is it any wonder you are depressed? You are probably feeling isolated and socially deprived, as well as missing that intesnce intelectual stimulation. I know that one of the things that socity tells us is that we should be happy "just" being a mommy. But for some of us, it isn't enough. I know that I could only handle being a stay at home mom for short periods of time. I love my son, but when he was little he had absolutely no interest in comparitive religion, quantum physics, the implications of the geo-political money market. All he wanted was a cookie. His first sign? Cookie. (no, he's not deaf, I just thought it would be fun to teach him sign language when he was a baby) When you stop going to school, even just for the summer, you have a major life event. It's similar to quiting a job, because being a full time student is/was your job. So HoneyBaby, is it any wonder you are depressed? (((((JMoe)))))

Your opinions needed: Deciding on a Goal Weight (or Range)
Thanks Jacqui! I'm just gonna keep fighting until there's no fight left. Anyway, I still think my method for picking a goal weight is a sound one Sure, it's a little geeky, okay, a lot geeky, but I think this way it can accomidate everyone. Not everyone has the bone structure like my son's GF, which is a good thing, because I think the world would be really boring if everyone was the same size, shape and color!

Kathy's Slow Loser NSV List
Excellent Ms. Vicky! Now, you go and start your own NSV Tracking Thread so that your NSVs don't get lost. It is so very important to keep track of them. They are what give shape and color to your scale victories!

Slow Losers - Unite!
*sigh* Thanks for asking Sarah, I've been a terrible spokes model lately. My mother didn't die during her massive cancer surgery, I'm still close with a cure for my Cushing's, my husband loves me and my sister is speaking to me again. On the down side, I'm within 15 pounds of my surgery day weight.

Are the bandless scaring newbies?
Thanks for posting this Lisa. I know that I went into my banding thinking I would be a superstar. I was going to do EVERYTHING right. I drank all my Water, excersized, paid super close attention to the "rules & guidelines." But I sit here, 15 pounds net loss. Scared that I'm going to end up even bigger than I was the day before my surgery, knowing there is nothing I can do to stop it. Bitter and angry are a couple of words that describe me lately. But I know that the band saved my life. I know this, even though it won't help me lose weight, as much as I bitch and complain, it saved my life in more ways than one. I think that it is important for people know what all the possible complications are. We all hope that everyone will have superstar success, we all hope that everyone loses all their weight in the first year. No one ever told me that it was possible to be a slow loser. No one told me that it was possible to gain weight at 1000 calories. But that is my reality.

I'm Feeling A Tight Feeling In My Chest
ok, I'm glad you called and spoke with someone with a clue. (not that we don't, but we are not qualified for some things) I'm glad they told you to not worry. The gas will slowly go away, and you will be right as rain. You might try the new GasX strips, they might help.
