  1. I vote yes for staws. Some people do better without them. Then there is my mother who never learned how to use a staw...
  2. So Megan, can we get an update?

La Madam's right. Call your doctor. and there is no need to make yourself suffer! The band isn't a diet, it is a lifestyle, a way of living. Being miserable is no way to live. the band is not supposed to be surgical bulemia!!! If you PB or vomit once a week, you are probably too tight. If you cannot drink anything, you are definately too tight. Be good to yourself! Call your DR. If you have to have an unfill, you have to have an unfill. If you are really too tight, you will damage your stomach.

I started back doing crunches about a week out, and horseback riding 2 weeks out, so yes, crunches are just fine 8 weeks out.
  5. I give Astro cheese, it helps buffer his asprin when he doesn't/won't eat. Just makes him a little gassy, but no worse than the frozen broccoli I give him.
  6. by all rights, I figure I should at the very least be an ax murderer. to this day my older sister cannot see how I could have called the police on our parents. In the '70s it wasn't like today, where the slightest alligation of abuse is investigated. My mom blames me for how my younger brother turned out. She figures it's all my fault he's abusive, spent years on coke, criminal record, incredibly manipulative and basically a viper. He's 40 years old, and is living off her. Younger brother has most of the "tells" for a serial killer, if that doesn't creep me out... Of course, our older brother is about the same, but he's not mean in the same way. Of course, when I was little, older brother would pick me up by my head and smother me until I would pass out. Then drop me to the floor.
  7. looking embarased.... a cheese burger. Mind you, I'd never had trouble eating the occasional cheese burger before....
  8. I am brutally honest with my son about my childhood, and our family genetics--world class alcholism and drug addition. Plus, he's 1/8 Native American, so he's got extra special pre-dispositions. What makes people think it is okay to behave that way??? I needed glasses from before I was in Kindergarden, and I was 4... I didn't get them until I was liviing in a group home. My mother decided that I was lying about needing glasses because *she* lied about needing glasses when she was a kid. I made the most amazing discovery--trees had leaves! They were not green clouds on sticks like I thought. So, after I returned to my family after about a year, my dad forgot his new reading glasses, and demanded that I hand over my glasses. (I'm terribly nearsighted) He put them on, couldn't see of course, declaired that they weren't "real" glasses and was going to throw them away.
  9. Oh man, DEVO is the greatest. They are goingto be playing at Bumbershoot this year! (a bumbershoot is british slang for a 'brolly, an unbrella. See, it rains some here in Seattle... ... Ever have a "double-biblical?" ) Bumbershoot is a big music fesival, and I feel good enough these days to go. But I'll be in Exile! No DEVO for me! Yesterday I bought "The best of Dick Dale and his Del-Tones" a double Sam the Sham & The Pharaohs (Little Red Riding Hood & Wooley Bully) (Spudboy was THRILLED!) and a replacement of DEVO's "Greatest Misses" (Spudboy stepped on the last copy and snapped it in half) My Jukebox has 15 gigs of space, so I currently have over 3,000 songs, over 200 hours of music...
  10. Alegra works like a champ for me! (gotta break them in half though) If you have a real alergy problems, have you considered alergy shots? I hate slow days at work! I had to runs some queries on my system that absolutely killed my computer for days on end. Sure, I ended up with some interesting data, but oh man! I spent most of that time sketching, because I couldn't do anything else. Yup, you know what to do, and that is the first step. ((((hugs))))
  11. About the ice cream, This is how I am. I have had ice cream that went bad. Mind you, I din't know ice cream could go bad, but there you are. Ice cream equals love to me. (Thanks Dad!) But I guess I only need love in small bits because I'm perfectly happy with a small coffee cup of it. And part of it is my hoarding thing. Remember, I'm the one who's chocolate problem is dust. (drives my family bonker) Nope, the PB was a quick one. The day before I'd had one of the major slimes that went on for hours, and it's a good thing I had an empty Water bottle in the car! Sunday it was over pretty fast, but I had to use drano on the sink! ewww! I did the foil packet thing in my hair at the beauty school. I had darker streaks put into my hair, and the red brighted. Today, I got to a professional who will put in some really really bright streaks. Last summer I had "corvet red" and I'm going to do that, plus hopefully some deep purple
  12. Heh, I think that's my theory. I still haven't gone to get a baromiter to see if I'm onto something. If anyone wins a Nobel for this, I am hereby claiming a share!
  13. I've played with a band, and they are super light. Which, when you think about it, do you think you would want a pound of stuff around one of your internal organs???
  14. Welcome to Bandlandia! Sorry about the pain. I was one of the "shopping the next day" crowd. Not much very pain, but I was very, very tired
  15. Major NSV time! I had to get a pair of Khakis for my trip to NY this weekend. I was told "brown khakis" which don't really exsist... Anyway, I digress. I tried on a pair of 22, thinking they might fit. Nope, too baggy. I tried on a pair of 20s! They were on the baggy side! I got a pair of 18s, and they fit! I fit into a size 18 today!!!!! Okay, I didn't buy them because they were not pretty, but I could put them on! Oh my gawd, oh my gawd, oh my gawd! A size 18! I haven't been able to squeeze my pretty little self into a size 18 since my baby was small! Oh sure, my jeans aren't a size 20, but still! It looks like I'll be bringing some clothes to the Las Vegas Bash after all!
  16. Woot! MO! wheee! Congratulations! (this is so wrong)
  17. Solid protiens: chicken, beef, fish, pork, eggs (I believe), and some soy products like the Boca brand patties hard, solid, dense
  18. Rae! Woot! you've lost 33 pounds without a fill?! Way to go! You are doing astoundingly well!
  19. I'd never thought of them like tamles, but now that I do think about it, I can see how someone would think that. I ended up taking them apart and just eating the sashimi out o the center. I was really, really difficult to not eat or at least save those last few bits, but I threw them out. Hurrah for me. So, Mary, can I interest you in some "special" avacodo?
  20. I just talked to Jessie, and she said that as long as I can swallow pain pills or anti-biotics, then I don't need an unfill. Not throwing any shoes...
  21. had to laugh! Just like when that cariologist told my 600 pound husband "have you just tried cutting out sweets?"
  22. I had some wonderful spicy tuna roll for lunch today, and I'm just laughing thinking about you and your experience! This is my first experience with sushi since banding. I handled the everything just fine, but I was amazed that the wasabi was too strong and so was the ginger... I'm not finishe with lunch, but I'm thinking about shucking the "wrapper" and the rice and just finishing the sashimi... mmmm sashimi
  23. Sending you waves of white and blue lights! We all wish you the very best!
  24. Wow, You sure are in my thoughts! We want pictures, of course. You are incredibly brave.
  25. I get my fill in Seattle, since while I live in Pocatello 9 months out of the year, I consider Seattle my home. (that's where my heart is, after all. ) I know that Rae goes out to the Seattle area, and she is in Burley. I know that my band surgeon proctored someone if UT, but that is probably farther than you want to go. Finding a fill doctor if I have to move worries me because it looks like so many docs don't want to touch anyone they didn't "do." good luck and keep us posted.
