  1. Aldies with the pain on the lower left side, is this where your port is also?? I have pain below my prt when I drink cokes. Like I have air stuck in there and I have pain and pressure. Sadly enough I keep drinking the cokes on occasion. The pain can be minor blaoting discomfort to full on pain that only gets a little better if I lay on my side. Could it be bloating you are suffering from that is pulling the port and port sutures??
  2. Signs and symptoms result from a functional obstruction of the esophagus: Dysphagia, or difficulty swallowing Regurgitation of undigested food Heartburn Difficulty belching Frequent hiccups Non-cardiac chest pains (NCCP) or spasms, which sometimes increase after eating and may radiate to the back, jaw, neck, and arms Weight loss Coughing, especially at night or when lying down These are signs and symptoms of what they say you have. Is this not what most of us have due to just having the strictness of the lapband? How could the lapband not have something to do with this? I am so sorry that you are going through this. Please keep us up on what is going on. Thanks for your post, I had never heard of this, but have these symptoms on occasion all at once.
  3. Hi everyone, I was hoping to see if anyone had any ideas for me. I had my lap band done 2 years ago exactly. I am down over 70 pounds but still have about 70 more to go. I am very happy I had the lap band surgery and I will jump back on the exercise wagon soon to kick start weight loss all over again. I had another surgery at the end of August this year because I had a tumor on my left ovary the size of a grapefruit. So, if you are following, I am down 1 ovary and up 1 band. Before my ovary surgery I have been on birth control for over 5 years. I got off the birth control before my ovarian surgery since it scared me to death that I might not be able to get pregnant. I wanted to initially wait to get pregnant so I could lose more weight first. I didn't want to be fat AND pregnant, but there is something about the idea of only 1 ovary left that kicked the baby wanting into high gear. So I had 2 normal periods after my surgery, some spotting and now 2 weeks late am having my next period. I know that the more weight I lose the more likely my chances are of getting pregnant. I was wondering if anyone has had any luck getting pregnant overweight and with one ovary and how long it took?? I haven't found much online about this so any info would be helpful!! Thanks!
  4. Congratulations Hon!! My surgeon told me that the Lap Band was originally called the "Fertility Band" and for that reason to get on the birth control before you start losing the weight. Since weight loss not only makes your body healthier it makes your sex life healthier!! Good luck on your first child, this must be such a joy for you!
  5. It's been a while since I posted but I wanted to drop by to say HI to everyone. I am coming up on my 2 year Bandiversary in November and was wondering what I have lost this year. I have lost some since last year but my biggest accomplishment is NOT GAINING! Since my last post which was before the summer I am 2 pounds smaller and have not even been trying. I figure when I feel like trying to start again I will and since I have my band I will not gain all of my weight back in the meantime. I have lost 71 pounds total and still have another 75 to go, but feel so much better and feel like a different person. I will post pics soon, but I just wanted to tell everyone HI!! I have recently had surgery to remove a tumor on my ovary, which also took my ovary. For some reason after that surgery I have been drinking cokes!! It is so bad I had not had them in months when I started back up to 2 or 3 a day for 2 weeks...well, now I am paying for it. I couldn't keep food down over the weekend and now I have heartburn and possibly gurd?? I haven't really had heartburn since my band surgery and now I am waking up in the middle of the night choking on stuff in the back of my throat and burning throat all day. I have now cut out the cokes AGAIN! and I have been eating that Activia yogurt to soothe my digestive tract. I am hoping by staying on soft foods and drinking lots of Water and yogurt for a few days it will all get back in order. If not, I am going to make an appointment to make sure I didn't slip my band from my lack of willpower with the cokes. Anyone else have this choking in the middle of the night problem and heartburn after they have had none with their band for a while?? Had it slipped?? Thanks for any insight and any hellos I can get!!!
  6. I am having a surgery to have an ovary removed and will not be able to do it laporscopically, so it's apparently a long surgery. I was wondering if anyone else has had to have surgery post band and if it affected your band in any way? Should I have it deflated? Any tips for this??
  7. I got my band when I was 26, had already had my gall bladder out. I had heartburn bad prior to the gall bladder being out and again prior to my band surgery. I didn't have a lick of it until about 2 months ago which is a year and a half in. The heartburn feels different now though. Instead of actual burn it is just tightness and pain in my chest, which scared me the first time and it usually happens at night. I need to have my band checked and plan on going in soon but an hoping I haven't slipped in the mean time!
  8. Victoriana, I thought I was the only nerd in the world that loves that Funniest Home Video show!!! I'm glad to know there are others and I did see the talking cat!! I was rollin on the floor. My favorite thing is sitting on the front part of my dad's boat while he flies through the lake on a hot summer day and the water splashes my feet and the radio blares oldies music, then there is sittin on the beach in South Texas, laid back in a chair with an umbrella partly blocking the sun, the smell of the salt water and the sand wet on my toes from just coming out of the waves reading a people magazine. My all time favorite moment was sitting on Waikiki Beach at the bar at the bottom of my hotel and ordering frozen pina coladas over and over and over and watching the turtles in the water below my chair in the hot sun without a care in the world! God I need a vacation!
  9. I am constantly making up words and terms, my husband likes to play along in baby voices and we use slang, ghetto speak and county talk real bad like. HA! For realz! Just depends on our mood, we always blame flatulence on the dog or the "barking spiders" in the house. When we are hungry we are "Hungarian". When I am tired I am "sweepy peepy". When he goes to play video games he is going to blow off steam by "shootin people". When we dance we are "breakin it down". Anytime we both eat too much, "my port hurts" and he isn't banded, but it's what he says. When our throat hurts, like the old commercial, "I gotta porcupine in my froat". We quote a lot of old commercials or shows bad too. We don't have kids either but when our dog is involved I am mom and he is dad...I love it though!
  10. I feel so bad for your mom and SO rry she is going through this as well as you. I know this doesn't exactly compare but when I went on birth control it changed my hormones and mood immensely, hormones are something you don't mess around with and it very well could be the big "M" in her life that is causing these changes, if not it could also be just a change in hormones completely from some new supplement or pill she is taking. Check to see if she has started any new regimens of what she is putting in her body and help her to get a physical asap. After the changes I went through just with birth control, I can't imagine the changes I will have with menopause!! You are a wonderful daughter to noitce these changes and with you by her side she should be on her way to "normal" soon!
  11. I have had my band a year and a half and I got the worst band pain on Saturday. The pain came all at once and it was in the general band area. It felt like when I used to have gall bladder attacks, back when I had a gall bladder. It started in my band area and then a horrible headache came. It lasted for about 30 minutes and then stopped and then I had a small stabbing pain that night when I went to bed in the same area. I have been eating horribly and drinking cokes (please no shoe throwing) and wonder if it was just some horrible heartburn incident. I haven't had heartburn since my surgery, BUT, I can tell it is still down there because when I eat it is like the valve opens while the food slips thru and that burning feeling comes up. I can only feel it when I eat, but this incident happened like 5 hours after breakfast. I know I should go to the doc and have an endo, but I am lazy and cheap. ( I know,I will go!) Has anyone ever experienced something like this??
  12. Congrats on your band, I hope you are feeling better today. It got a little better each day with me, but I had to sleep in the recliner for a week because the pain after waking up in the morning sucked from getting so stiff over night. The third day was the killer for me when I wondered what the heck had I dont to myself and then day 4 was so much better and the throwing up after surgery probably made your pain so much worse! I hope you get to feeling better and don't worry you will be back to your old self in no time!!
  13. I am so sorry about this, but so happy there was no more injury, your husband was very lucky. I would get an atty, especially if the truck that hit you was a company truck. My aunt did this and got over 90K in damages because she started having problems after the fact with vertigo and had to have inner ear surgery. Please at least talk to an atty to see what they think and make sure your husband pays attention to any differences in his health.
  14. OK, I am way over a year out and irritable as hell today, what's my problem!? HA!
  15. Sittin right there with ya! I have the fat in all the same places too and feel huger now than I did almost 70 pounds to go. When I realize I have to lose as much as I have already lost all over again it really makes me want to quit. Then I think well, I only have 75 more pounds to lose and that is much easier than the original 150 I started at. We just need to get refocused because the last half is going to be so much harder than the first half!! We are going to have to work more with our band! I need some motivation also!!! Le me know what you get!
  16. Mamma always said and I quote, "if you spend extra money on nothing else make sure it is your underthings". I have on my Lane Bryant cream colored bra with the little air pads in them to keep the cup bubbling over and my undies are the high cut chonies with the strings on the hips. Nothin fancy but everything is where is it supposed to be gravity wise!! Lisa I missed these!!
  17. I go through phases of the things I can't live without. Currently it is a Justaburger with cheese from Whataburger. It takes me like an hour to eat that thing, but I have to have it. My last phase was Popcorn with actual melted butter poured over, I would eat this every night for dinner. Who knows what my next phase will be, I'm hoping for lettuce or cucumbers plain...I some how doubt that one though!
  18. I read it in 97 on the beach one summer and I can still remember it vividly at how she lost weight imaginig her food was growing nasty things on it....crazy how a book can move you!
  19. Wonderful transformation!!! I love it!!

I love these stories, I even go to Ghost walks in little Texas towns. I have never seen nor felt anything myself personally but had a roommate that "saw people" plain as day and when we would just be standing around talking I could see her head turn in a certain direction and turn back and I knew she had just seen someone. It would scare the crap outta me! Since we moved from that apartment she hasn't really seen much since. Creeps me out and I love that feeling!!!
  21. holy crappers you worried me, CONGRATULATIONS!!
  22. Sometimes It feels like my band is staying in place when I run and feels the same way as what you described, but since we are on the subject, I haven't had regular heartburn since I have had my bandito, but sometimes when I eat is like I open up the hatch and the burn comes up while the food is going down and then gone after the food is done going down...have you or anyone else ever experinced that?? Maybe if you just started running you are pulling on muscles that you have not moved in a while and that is the weird feeling for and with the band, as for the coughing it could just be from running you also worked some stuff out of your lungs with the heavy breathing that had settled. I would say if you're not in pain then I wouldn't worry. Let us know what you hear though!!
  23. mmm, bunny! Ok, I just had to! Buy the next one hollow to lessen the calories! Consider the one you ate your 1 Easter treat and no more!!! Good luck working it off tonight!!! :uwelcome:
